i hope this kind of greedy updates will eventually backfire
It’s backfiring already. Player inactivity is rising even with this event.
Funny cause I think the plan was to slide this through along with the Halloween event (which is rehashed btw) so that the wave of players that come back use this new system.
Reminder to everyone to spread the word in-game and boycott gw2. It’s the only thing that will work.
So far there’s an overwhelming voice that says this update is bull. The only dev “input” we’ve heard with in these 30 pages is that they are open to suggestions, which is basically a passive-aggressive way of saying “yea, nah. We’re not going to change it back but, look! We’re open to suggestions : ))))))))))”
So as they say: “The only winning move is not to play.”
No, literally, let’s just boycott gw2 till they realize they need to clean up their act.Already called my guild and told them that I wouldn’t be on and why. They agree with me so we will move on to something else until Anet decides to knock off the foolishness.
Yup, i think a good long boycotting is called for here. They know how to fix it. But seriously, that “suggestions” line was PRICELESS! Someone needs to call EA and tell them they been trumped. ROFL
We should spread the word to the people online. Let them know we can actively do something to force Anet’s hand. Anyone?

In the span of these 3 years since release they haven’t done anything of substance for long term appeal and veterans.
The game will die out soon enough, just wait for it. No successful MMO pulls these practices and lasts. It’s as simple as that.
Maybe once they see how bad it’s doing, they’ll wise up. That’s all we can hope for.
Hey folks. It’s been quite a while since I last opened up my GW2 client, but I’m really thinking about getting back in. Just want to know some stuff about the state of the game first.
Wan’t to know?
-The devs have been pushing their “living world” agenda for a long time now and real updates have stopped.
-They can’t seem to add anything worth while to the game with out removing something that isn’t broken.
-This: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Lets-talk-about-the-new-Gem-conversion/first
-No expansions
-Crafting system got shafted
-Dedicated players get punished for trying to farm for the grindy crafting system
the list goes on.
If you ask me, you’re better off literally anywhere else. Sorry for being a spoilsport.
Uninstalling 1 & 2. Tired of the never ending wall of B.S. Don’t even care anymore, not even a little. No, you can’t have my stuff.
That’s it son. Rip it off, like a band-aid.
Add an option buy gems in 100 gem increments instead of making 400 gems the smallest denomination possible. Problem solved.
THERE! Thank you, Errant Venture — that’s a solid suggestion with a reasonable tone. Thank you.
This does not suddenly make things all good. This doesn’t even begin to fix the fundamental issue here. It’s like raising taxes 200% and then saying “Alright, alright 150%. THERE!”.
Saying that THAT was a ‘solid’ suggestion is the same as saying that the overwhelming voice that says “the old system was fine and there’s 0 reason to have this system” is not solid.

HERE’S THE FUNDAMENTAL PROBLEM WITH Arena Net’s MINDSET WITH RESPECT TO NEW PLAYERS:
The devs feel the need to change the system to fit the new players rather leaving them to actually think or give them instructions.
Meanwhile: When was the last time the game was given content or changes that are beneficial to the veteran? Or something that AT LEAST keeps the new players playing?
No successful MMO pays this much attention to the newbies and punishes dedication (farming). See: Warframe.

The main issue is that we have to purchase gems in bulk of 400 gems. That’s too much.
1) 400 gems doesn’t match Gem Store prices. Of the 12 feature items on the gem store, only one could be purchased for gold without any gems left over.
2) 400 gems is expensive in gold. If I have enough gold for 200 gems but not enough for 400 gems, I can’t get 200 gems. But there are items on the Gem Store for 200 gems.
3) 400 gems is more expensive than “new players” could afford. It took me a year to have 75g. I wouldn’t still consider myself a “new player” after a year. If this is geared towards new players, 400 gems is a hefty price.
4) Conversion History let us know when to buy. Transparency helps the customer. We’ve lost the transparency. We have no idea when is a good time to buy or sell, now. We liked knowing.
This.
Also, Anet, please drop the “for the new players” bs. New player =/= incapable of understanding a simple gem-to-gold interface. You’ve been pandering to “the new players” for a while now and I can understand some of it, but this is reaching a new low. A microsoft low.
