I downloaded the original patch this afternoon no problems at all. The patch that came about an hour after that broke everything and i’ve been waiting for like 5 hours for the thing to download anything at all.
Your issue is with Comcast;
2 121ms 12/ 25 = 48% 3/ 25 = 12% 96.120.41.201 0/ 25 = 0% |
3 98ms 9/ 25 = 36% 0/ 25 = 0% te-8-4-ur02.(city removed).mi.michigan.comcast.net [69.139.241.173]Your latency starts at the 96.120.41.201 at address with 121ms and proceeds into Comcast’s network with a nice 98ms.
So, yea totally on Anet’s end here….
Call your isp, and if necessary, provide your pathping with a tracert.
I just spent a good hour on the phone with them earlier in the day and was told it’s not on their end and i need to talk to whichever game is having issues.
EDIT: I would also like to point out this is the exact reason everyone is frustrated and pointing the finger at Anet. I’ve been playing the game since beta weekends and never in my life had any issues other than the occasional quick lag spike once in a blue moon. Feature pack goes live and all of a sudden huge chunks of the player base are having horrible issues.
When calling comcast they directed me to anet saying it was nothing they could do.
I have no issues with any other games or services that connect to the internet. I actually just finished downloading quite a few games from steam earlier last week and have had zero isssues when any of those, zero issues on league, sc2, or any other game I own.
Excuse me for listening to my ISP and coming to the logical conclusion that ISP says it isn’t them and every single other game I own connects perfectly fine equals something wrong with the single game I’m having problems with.
If there is something that I am able to do without a snarky, sarcastic attitude I would be thrilled to log in and run through 5 minutes of wvw without being disconnected 3 times.

Half of the people posting about this are not from outside the united states, go take a look at the latency thread and you’ll see plenty of people from all corners of the united states who are having issues. As for the request of the tracert, here’s the one I just did.

These are the numbers I got from the tracert and I’m currently unable to play the game due to all the lag and rubberbanding.
Fix your internet connection.
It’s not internet connections or hardware. My internet connection is more than awesome and my hardware is way more than sufficient for this game and I have had almost constant lag spikes since the new patch.
Your location: Michigan
Time and date of incident (plus time zone) : Literally all day long, est time zone
Game World: NA Crystal Desert
Brief description of what you’re seeing: Skill latency and rubber banding where my game stops doing anything and then I watch a fast forwarded version of what happened the entire time my game stopped.
Been playing since betas and up until the past week or so I haven’t had any issues with anything.
EDIT:
1. Does the lag only happen while you’re in a PvP map? Does it also occur in the PvP lobby? Other maps?
Happens everywhere in the game.
2. How long does the lag spike last? Does it ever clear up?
Normally only lasts ~5 seconds, but occasionally get long enough lag that ends in a disconnect.
3. Of your last 5 GW2 play sessions, in how many of them did you experience lag?
All of them
4. Are there specific times of day when do or you don’t experience lag?
Happens most often in the evening time, but does happen all day long.
5. When do you remember first experiencing lag of this severity in GW2?
About a week or so ago
6. Do you also experience lag playing other games? NCsoft games like Wildstar?
I don’t play any other NCsoft games, but none of my other games or things like netflix have issues
7. Do you live in NA or EU?
NA
8. Are you playing on NA or EU servers?
NA servers
9. Was your account ORIGINALLY created on NA or EU?
Created in NA

It’s an alienware and everything is set to performance, the power supply is fine, laptop says it’s plugged in and charged, and I’m now getting x16 in gpuz after restarting and pulling the battery out for a minute. That brought me up to 11fps.
If by reseating you mean remove the card I don’t think that is going to happen since I’d have to disassemble my laptop to do that.
I’ll try restarting again and then try bios settings if that doesn’t work.
And how would I go about doing that?
So yesterday 12/24/13 I was logged in fine doing my regular daily runs. Everything was running fine and I was getting ~40fps while in places like Queensdale.
Look ahead 5 hours after coming home from a Christmas Eve party and I can’t get anything higher than 8 FPS.
Absolutely nothing has changed in the 5 hours I was gone, my laptop didn’t even change locations.
I have a decent system:
2.53ghz i5
8gigs of ram
ATI Radeon 5850
I went through and checked everything that all other threads are suggesting like re-installing drivers, re-installing the client, changing the graphics settings to minimum, etc but nothing has helped.
While playing my cpu is only at 29% and ram 42%.
Someone mentioned using gpuz to check that and I have no idea what any of this information means but it all looks like information for my card. The bus interface is PCI-E 1.1 1×16 @ 1x 1.1
Does anyone have a solution to this? I’ve played almost every single day for the past year and never had any issues with anything..
