Game of the Year 2012 award goes to GW2!

Considering how broken and dull the game is I bet Anet paid them off for these rigged awards.

People like you are simply anoying…
Please, continue playing World of Daylies

From the perspective of a germanfag: Your beloved Obama got his laughable Nobel price for the same reason GW2 is getting it’s GOTY: People believe in something called “change”, giving “hope” for betterment, whatever…

On Topic:
GW2 is also GOTY according to a fan vote (and I mean a real vote, no online-crap) from one of Germany’s biggest (print) gaming magazines, “PC Games”.
It got FAR more votes than f.e. AC3, MP3. the fantastic(!) Dishonored, Borderlands, D3, WoW: MoP, your typical Shooter-crap, a.s.o.

Why aren't Dyes account wide?

Well money is of course one side of the medal, maybe (cough) the bigger one.

But let’s be a lil’ optimistic and “fair”
- Dyes are optional and this game B2P (maybe the dyes should be cheaper, okay)
- Buying Dyes in the TP for f.e. three characters means three times more gold “vanished” from the game (TP-“tax”)
- It encourages players to try/use different dye-sets for different characters

Maybe I’m wrong… but doesn’t every kittenin’ class give access to stuff like speedbuffs or even speed-signets?
F.e. Guardians with Staff #3 and “Retreat”, Thiefs with their fancy Signet, etc.

Mounts were discussed ~234973245 times.
And Flying mounts will never be in this game because of the “zoned” world.

germanfag here, so it’s likely not all

I have to admit that after some time using the Hammer got dull
Yes, it has some nice situative skills but usually it’s all #1 and #2…

So I started to think about going 0/0/30/30/10 Greatsword-Staff.
Some points seem positive like easier stacking of Might and simply “more buttons to mash” (esp. with 2H-Mastery).

Do you guys have tips for something like that?

0/0/30/20/20 GS AH+Shouts build.
Gear: Power+Toughness+Precision (Knight) Exotic.

I have been using a GS since before level 10 and never used anything else other than the odd Hammer or Scepter just to try them out.

Today I decided to get a Sword and Focus and go test it out against the Krakas of all kind -normal and vets- what I discovered blew me away, not only does the sword kill just about as fast, I take less damage -if that was even possible lol

As a GS I’ll admit its faceroll, really takes little skill to play this build due to the OP self healing, but add a Sword+Focus and its the same damage, same healing but much more mitigation!

Btw, what are you taking with 20 Virtues? Just curious.

Same here. I could understand it in PvP but not that much in PvE.

My guess: Supreme Justice

Crafting benefits, extra Signet Slot

Oh, there is lil’ misunderstanding here. These are two different suggestions.

So, let’s go into detail:
1. Crafting bonus: Well, I forgot “the numbers”.
Let’s say +1 to all stats (all stats, because no one wants that “Need Pow? Become an Armorsmith!”) per crafting-stage (Novice, etc.), limited to two crafting-professions.
Result: +10 to all stats – doesn’t sound like much, actually it’s not even that big – but it’s something the crafting player can cling to.

2. I understand your concerns olba – but the signets themselves are balanced for there class (never heard an infamous signet-only specced warrior to be OP, f.e. ).
So, if every class would an additional signet-slot (or equivalents), it should be fine anyway. Signets, that are used as healing-skills are treated separately.

As said before: This would add some more diversity to the game, bump something after getting the elite-slot, bolster some underused playstyles, etc.

Tbh: Since there are so many signets for so many classes ingame, it always occurred me, like Anet planed something like a signet-slot anyway, but dropped it later.
(Or they’re lazy and use this idea over and over for many classes to get the skill-list filled )

I know many people hate WoT’s, so I’ll keep it short and crisp.

1. Crafting is dull and not rewarding in this game (except for leveling alts). Fast EXP-gain isn’t really a reward in a game, where one levels so fast (too fast imho).
As so many people claimed so many times: Simply buying the stuff you need from the TP and sell all the stuff you don’t need (MyFo, etc.) is hands down the cheaper way.

So, for a small compensation and kind of sweetener: Just add crafting-benefits, like in other MMOs. This sounds dull, I know. But this would be the easiest way (contrary towards stuff like loot-table adjustments, unrepairable equipment, dailies, etc. to add some spice.

2. Almost every class has these funny little things (all but Mesmer and Engineer).
Imagine for a moment: Next to the Elite-button, there is a small button (sized like the weapon-swap-button on the left).
This slot is only for signets and Mesmer- and Engineer-equivalents (f.e. “pets” [Illusion/Robot] or simply also signets)

Why this idea? Most classes have ~4 signets (and sometimes healing-signets on top), which are diverse, fun… but most of the time not used because other Utilities are more important and there are only three slots. Also they remain passive most of the time, so it’s nothing that would confuse somebody or need a button as big as the Utility-ones.

It would add a little bit more diversity, buff some traits, give people something more “to do or consider to do” in combat.

FotM killed Gw2

Yes, cosmetic only gear will pull in the masses for years to come. Hardly. They can only get away with that in games that have other kinds of depth and REAL competitive game modes. This game doesn’t have it yet.

He was right: You really don’t get it.
And please: Don’t forget, that GW1 did that and quiet well to be honest
GW2 is about to become a (bad) WoW-clone with some extras (although the combat-system can’t compare to games like AoCm f.e.)

GW2 was MEANT to be a game, where players are like “Well, I COULD play GW2 today but I’d like to play Skyrim, Dishonored, whatever – well no, I’ll go hang arround with some friends – but that’s not bad, it’s GW”

GW2 was never meant to be a game for these people we Germans call “Kellerkinder” (“basement-dwellers”), who prefer playing this game 6h+/365 instead of going to a party, the cinema, etc.
And ANsoft’s thought that these people will be the most profitable is simply laughable.
Because these Kellerkinder are the first one to leave for the “next big thing” and won’t spend any money in the gemstore.

This whole concept of F-Levels is just a load of crap… “LFG/M FotM Level XYZ” – this is even more disgusting than waiting XY minutes for a tank or healer (never happend to me anyway, because a always played one of those in other games)

I can forgive many things in this game, no matter how crackbrained they were.
F.e.: MY final mission in MY (Trahearne’s…) personal story: Some random PUG-dude’s character speaks all the time – I feel like simple grunt…
Or: Lost Shore’s Event (I invited two people for this (trial) – both left…) was bugged and the servers couldn’t handle it. I had to choose on Sunday “play phase 3 or go to bed early” (I have to travel 300 km/250 miles every monday/friday due my current bureau is in Hannover city).
I said: “You won’t miss a thing, no need for a skin or some greens, go to bed” and so I did… just to be told after the next log-in people were rewared with exotics equal to 3~6 gold or even Precursors – for a kittenin’ simple event!?
But even that’s fine… Maybe my fault or my jobs and I know, that I can’t expect to be on par with hardcore gamers due the time-invest – it’s fine.

What isn’t fine is, that due this kittened up Fractal mechanic people are simply left behind
I can’t stand being stuck at level 1 after three attempts, because either players believe this crap is over after one fractal and then leave or die and rage-quit during fractal 3 or – and I quote (translate) this – tell you: “Oh sorry, didn’t know this would take so long” and leave/dc.

Finally ANsoft brought up that feeling, seemingly many players were missing.
The infamous “must play or I’ll be left behind” – Gratz and GG ANsoft.
Don’t get me wrong, this Ascended-stuff maybe fine (after there are other ways to get it). But this Dungeon-level-crap is simply “kitten”.

FLW: This game isn’t even close to what the “manifesto” once told me.

I’m “fixed” at 0/0/30/30/5 right now (EM and 2HM).
But I can’t decide where to put the last 5 points
Radiance for more crit% and a blind or Virtues for longer lasting boons and a even longer lasting retaliation?

How about a small bonus for crafting?

Old issue is old…
+ Crafting is very good for leveling, although one levels (too) fast enough in this game (and you have to visit everything for your 100% anyway)
- Crafting is very expansive, because one doesn’t find enough mats during leveling, so mats must be bought in the TP (especially if you want to keep in “level-range” crafting-wise
- Crafting – even with guides and wise purchasing of intermediate steps – is a gold destroyer (due TP-prices)
- Not crafting at all, selling all mats and simply buy what you need from the TP is by far the better way right now
- The “real” gear is from Karma or dungeons (or is, with few exceptions, easier obtainable this way)

So, this list isn’t complete and some may argue. But the whole point is: Crafting is almost useless in this game (even more with ascended gear in a few day ).

So why not giving the people a small compensation for the efforts?
F.e. +1 for each crafting-stage (limited to two professions).
This would be +10 to all stats at 400/400.
It’s nothing huge but at least a small “reward” for all the effort.

Don’t get me wrong: The crafting in GW2 is kinda nice (although a bit wearisome after the big “Oh, that’s how it works” moment). But it’s simply not rewarding.
Don’t tell me the Exp are a reward, because I prefer leveling due content.

(Don’t tell me about leveling with crafting – one levels too fast in this game even without it)

Two-Handed Mastery VS Empowering Might

The Honor-line has so many great traits … it’s hard to choose
Even things like Protective Reviver are sometimes simply awesome.

This is especially hard, if you go for 30 in honor.
Even then there is no “Simply take Battle Presence”.
There are still many options like Two-handed Mastery and Empowering Might or go for a Writ of XXX trait.

The only “fixed” trait I simply don’t like is Elusive Power – but even this is sometimes great like Dodge > gap-closer or dodge > ranged > attack.

Can we stop having people telling us it’s a problem from us? Because all you guys are really doing here is accusing us for doing something wrong and bashing us.

This bothers me also…
I appreciate all those helpful tips (more or less) from (self-proclaimed) HW/Performance freaks.
But this issue has nothing to do with any kind of User-generated problems.
It’s a pitty that these people can’t distinguish between “performance sucks” and "game ran well, now it sucks*

There are many threads like asafy’s, f.e.

Okay, there is a quiet similiar topic (allthough it’s more about crashes since “that one Patch”)

Could we – pretty please – get an answer if there were any changes considering the games engine during Halloween?
And if there are plans to revert these?

(For a TL;DR: Scroll down)

Hi there,

first of all: Germanfag here, english isn’t my native tongue, so please excuse this text on that terms.
I’m posting this issue in the EN-Forums because in the german part there was no response to this.

So the problem is:
Since the last few days (max. one week) some people claim to have massive FPS-issues.
This subject rised up several times since then on the german, english and french forum (I don’t speak spanish at all but maybe it’s also discussed there). These topics also arise in several fan-forums.
But this topic seems to be neglected somehow.

The funny thing is: All of these people (including myself) claim, that the performance of GW2 crumbled only after that one update and before this, it was quiet okay.
In most cases the FPS dropped by 2/3 “out of nowhere”. (Mine f.e. High/Med 1600 Reso from 45~60 to ~15 – simply standing in the center of LA – game is now unplayable w/o using subsampling, which simply sucks and causes headache)

So, let’s skip all that stupid “Seems to be your HW bro” or the standard answer from the support “Please send us a Game Advisor Report”.
Many people (including me) already have done that without any sign betterment.
The problem tends to be whatever came up with that said patch engine-wise.
Well, to be honest, the real problem is even worse: The topic receives no attention from the devs or CM’s. It’s kinda like this topic is hushed up

TL;DR: There are far to many people complaining about said FPS-problems in the same way (“Didn’t touch anything, other games work fine, few days ago GW2 ran perfect until then”, etc.) that there needs something to be done about.
I know this is no place to actually demand something… but it would be great to know, if the devs have this issue on there screens.

Thanks for reading.
