magic find affects gear
gather bonus affects resource nodes.

100% MF = x2 normal chance ( as noted above ) but I wanted to also note that a 100% increase or going from a .1% to a .2% chance might seem small.. it in effect doubles your chances, or also halves your time spent looking for said items.

In other games have seen many people dismiss a increase of 100% going from a .01% to a .02%. than curse that they never or only rarely find something. in the above case of .01% u would have to kill 10000 monsters, vs 5000 with the .02%. Now which would you prefer? thats 1 item of HIGH qualty in 10k vs 2 items of HIGH quialty in 10k kills.

( the .01 and .02% are pure made up numbers to show a point, I do not fill that they repersent the current drop rate of yellows.)

Is game down, or just me?

not to de-rail thread but I love the english Dc.‘s who love to find fault with everyone’s typeing skills.. I mean really? if thats all they can do, maybe they need a new hobby.

PS My spelling sucks, my grammer is below par, but guess what?
My IQ is 163 so does my lack of writing ability make me dumb? only to those who can’t read between the lines.

Your having bad rng.

150% mf and most mobs having a 1% chance, is only giving u a 2.5% chance of a yellow. so with that in mind, that 2.5 out of 100 kills that will drop a yellow. averg person will hit about 100 – 120 per hour kills ( due to spawn rate, movement between kills etc.) thus netting us about 2 yellows per hour, on avg. But bad rng is bad rng..

Why are mesmers just weird damage dealers?

I wana make a simple point here to all the people who keep talking about gw1 mesm vs gw2 mesm. To me its simple… there is no longer a tri-fecta set up. IE tank / heal / dps. with a support roll or two open. Here everyone is expected to dps / support / and at least self heal. You can’t expect mesm to be a focused class not in this game. We have toons of options, and the best mesm tend to run a good mix of support and dps. anyone who says our clones dont draw fire… doesnt do pvp / wvw much. You can litterly pump out clones faster than they die.. well most of the time aoe storms can be a problem. and most of the good ones look enough like the player to draw fire for a second or two ( which is about all it takes to kill one ). But thats the point. I run in small groups, normaly 2 – 4 people. and have seen zergs turn and go around us while we were beating the day lights out of some other small group. Why? cause from range, our clones red names look just like players. People dont bother to target them, they just see a sea of red ( 4 names from me, + 3+ from rest of group depending on pets etc ) makeing it look like more people than it is. I have seen this happen with necro also, who brings the 5 names to the field. Its all about confusion.

Least assume for a min, that they do bother to tab target through it all ( which most people use ) than each pet is another possible target they will tab to. just cause they die fast, doesnt mean they are not doing their jobs.

wanted to add my two cents here.

For pve I roll with about same set up as I do for wvw, IE gs + sword and pistol *( phantom build ). I run power > prec > vit. I trait in the same way. Most fights are over in 10 – 15 seconds tops. Open with gs, ranged #2 to pop a clone, follow with berserker, than #3 the gtaoe, swap to sword / pistol, drop duelist. Start running to mob/s while hitting ur magic bullet. finsh with #2 sword and F1 shatter if need be. this set up works pretty good on up to 3 mobs, with each only adding a second or 5 to total time.

I tried alot of the other builds, and I gota say imo the so called glass cannon mesm is not really made of glass. I use the stealth + clone and tele. if I even think I might take to much dmg I hit the stealth, than teleport. wvw and pve this does great for geating u out of combat and at range. Note that in wvw I do the above, after I do my opener ( ie gs set, s/p set ending with the flurry, hit stealth, double tap dodge, tele, swap weapons and repeat on next target.)

Only thing I will add is that it is a good idea to carry a focus with you, for the spd buff for u and your followers.
