6. gem store
The prices – aren’t we a bit too expensive NcSoft? I mean it’s simple economy (which i have master’s degree of) that teaches that if something is cheaper more people will buy it (given it’s attractive to them) and the number of purchases will often outweigh the loss in price. Looking at other mmos i recently played i can certainly say your prices are way above the optimal pricing line.
Skins – it’s epic we’re starting to get good skins, but doesn’t that mean that those go into gemstore instead of ingame? And now people who could get new and cool looking customization options are stuck behind a pay-gate?
I agree with your opinion on prices, very much so.
It has happened to me many times that I refused to buy an item in the gem shop simply because, in my opinion, what I paid was not worth what I got.
For example, the special dye packs. I refuse to pay real money for RNG anymore. 125 gems for one single Black Lion Key? No thanks.
Last year, I bought and opened 45 (!) of the Wintersday Gift Boxes, in the hopes of getting one or more of the minis. 45 boxes later, not a single mini, I was out 50 dollars, and all I had were a bunch of useless turret cannon things.
That made me realize that there was NO way I would spend money on RNG stuff in the gem shop anymore. A year later, I still haven’t.
I bought all the mini packs (with fixed drops), armors, Marjory’s Dagger, I have spent hundreds of dollars in the gem store (I want to support Anet and vote with my money on items I like). But I would buy even more if the prices were lower and in accordance with what I feel like I’m getting.
The ONLY items in the gem shop that are, I feel, at their correct price is the Hair Styling Kit and the Makeover Kit.
As for more armor skins in-game as rewards or at vendors or as drops, YES PLEASE!
I am kind of tired of buying full sets of skins in the gem shop. No feeling of achievement or reward.
Want a new looking armor? Get the gems! Nevermind that I will then see everyone and their mother run around in the same set for the next 2 weeks.
There is not enough skill-based rewards/armors/weapons in the game. Difficult to obtain ones, not dungeon speed-clear token ones.
I remember when you guys said Legendary weapons will be testimony to a player’s skill and journey.
Then I remember when I first saw them on the Trading Post. When I first realized the RNG of the precursors (my friend has been playing since betas, has ~2000 hours clocked, and hasn’t seen a single precursor).
I can only hope that more content like Liadri (getting the mini as reward for beating her was the best GW2 moment for me) will be added, where your journey and character progression is based on skillful play, not grind, farming, or RNG.
A Hall of Monuments – like area like someone said further up would be very welcome. I really miss displaying my achievements.
Level-up books/tomes purchaseable with skill points would be VERY good for helping to level alts.
I would love to see a salvage kit that works like the Perfect Salvage Kit did in GW1.
This would go a LONG way in allowing people to play around and experiment with different builds and play styles.
Currently, no matter what salvage kit I use, my armor will be destroyed. I am one of the poor GW2 players, since I only have maybe an hour to play a day. Buying exotic gear is a big deal for me.
I cannot afford to put a sigil or rune into an armor piece, then having to salvage the sigil/rune back out and destroy the exotic piece simply because I rather have a different upgrade in it, as my build changes.
(EDIT: I know I can overwrite an upgrade, but again, affordability issue… imagine you have a set of exotic armor with Traveler runes that doesn’t work for your Necromancer. I want to salvage out those runes [worth ~ 10 gold right now], keep the armor, and put a new set of runes in there!)
In fact, I am extremely surprised that a perfect salvage kit is not a thing yet.
This would also help SO much with alts.

One dancing salad, coming right up.
Which and what type armor is that?
Light armor class doesn’t look any better…
This is the starter armor for my poor Ele guy, transformed into the HoM set.
It looks SO bad that I can’t play with him, until I have gathered enough money to buy the tier 2 cultural armor.
IMHO, Sylvari don’t have nearly enough plant looking armors (they have the grand total of FOUR, 3 cultural and 1 dungeon). At least make their starter armor fit their race, for god’s sake :/
Here’s a pic of him, see for yourself: http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/530427_257707117683891_1976015739_n.jpg
I’m a level 71 Necro on my other account. I don’t even know why I lasted so long. Maybe the fact that I’ve been playing mostly everything solo (only had a couple of guildies help out during a personal story mission), and haven’t had much of a chance comparing my damage output to other players.
I don’t play sPvP, and barely any WvW (just enough to get the 50 kills for the monthly achievement), so I’m talking about PvE here.
I paired up with my long time friend yesterday to do a couple of her story missions. She’s an Ele. When I saw the damage she can do, I almost ragequit.
My minions are good-for-nothing meatballs, who only attack my targets when they please ( 3 out of 5 times they just stand there, letting me wand the enemy to death during 10 minutes of agonizing bore).
I use DS, I use a scepter with a warhorn, plus a staff for alternate weapon. I know how to use my Necro, thankyouverymuch.
Damage output is pathetic, even with nice gear and the power trait line maxed out.
Summoned jagged horror is plain ridiculous.
I really don’t like the fact that I can’t “un-summon” my minions. They don’t look good either. Like someone mentioned, the bone horrors look like skinned bunnies with a skullface. It’s just not cool.
Anyway… I really hope the team will take a good look at the Necros. I love the class to pieces, and I want to play it, but I’m afraid I have to gravitate towards my Elementalist or Engineer alts for now, especially after hearing the fact that Necros are worthless in Orr.
I know undead/risen enemies are packed way too tight in Orr, and that they respawn WAY too fast (I hate both of these facts, and I hope it will get fixed soon), and this is exaggerated by the problems the Necros are already having.
Try and get through Malchor’s with minions in tow, I challenge you.
