Graphics crash entirely in Tangled Depths

For anyone else who may be having the same issue, I believe I solved it by switching supersampling back to native.

I figured this out because the wintersday jumping puzzle apparently has the same effect as the ley-line confluence and crashes me. It was working fine after the settings got reset due to the settings reset bug. When I maxed them all out again, it started crashing. I played with the options one by one until it wasn’t able to be reproduced. Everything else on max no crashes.

I like to manage the games through their own settings, so no. I am running a single card so no SLI settings would be put in place. I have three monitors but do not use them in surround.

The drivers are completely up to date and fresh installs (it has carried across two driver versions thus far).

I still would like answers as it is currently impossible for me to do the meta event here.

I discovered that while playing in Tangled Depths, specifically around the Ley-Line Confluence area, I encounter repeated crashing of my graphics. When the crash happens, it is the entire system and it takes a reboot to bring them back.

My system specs are as followed:

Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth 990fx r2.0
Processor: AMD FX 6300 overclocked to 4ghz
RAM: 16GB
GPU: GTX 970
OS: Windows 10 64-bit

My case has enough fans to take flight. They are configured in a way to create negative pressure inside the case to keep out dust. Everything is air-cooled except the CPU. I know for a fact that the GPU is not overheating because it barely goes over 70c and TJ Max for these style of cards is in the high 90’s.

I have tried both the 32bit and 64 bit clients without any change in success.

I can easily make it through the meta event in Dragon’s Stand without any issues and many other crowded events.

Any tips/hints/suggestions that may help I am willing to try.

Thanks!

While we appreciate someone standing up for us, the choice is ultimately up to Anet. I trust that no matter the outcome they will do right by us. They have in the past!

You should really consider that you may be wrong when other players in the same boat as you (myself included, even if I’d like to throw you overboard) are telling you that your posts hold no merit. You’re not even fighting the company on this – you are currently arguing with your peers.

Trust me, we would all like to see them give us the codes! Nothing would make us happier. It is their legal right to refund us instead of providing codes, though.

No by law they don’t have to give it to ever one. Only ones that got it at the time. But anyone that got it for 3.75 got lied to if they don’t let have the game which is false advertisement even if they messed up. They are sapost to check there price after they set it up to make sure it was right. Which they could of turned off the web site or the link instead of letting more and more get it. I know it was up there for at least a good 2 -3 hours before they did any thing. You are acting like they lost millions of dollars like the game came out yester day! When it was on sail about a month ago for 10 they can take the lose for there mess up. To new people to the game it lied to them! They didn’t know it was 40$ the day be for! I have the game for 60 full price but my point is they can try to do this when ever they want if u buy some thing u should get it. Not a email saying well we changed are minds and u have to pay more that’s bad bis and not legal. Or hears your money back if u want it pay us more is also bad bis and not legal. But any one that didn’t get it for that hour needs to pay the normal price. When they took down the link and fixed it after that those people have to pay that price that’s the ways advertisement works! I still cant believe they have just bit the bolt on this befor bad stuff dos get out about it the longer they wait the more mad people will be and more will troll about it. As consumer we have rights.

Well obviously they should listen to you as you’re brimming with intelligence. /sarcasm

I only highlighted the major errors – there are plenty more. Perhaps you should think about using spell check that is built into every browser these days!

Again, trying to legally strong-arm a large corporation because you don’t feel like paying full price for a second account for a game you already play for free will not end well for you! You play under their terms of service, not yours.

Nebulous, they can most definitely refund us our money and let that be the end of it. I am one of the people who managed to make a purchase and while I hope to get a serial out of this, I would not be disappointed if they simply refund me.

In any case, trying to legally strong-arm a large corporation will not end well for you.

I’m sorry for insulting you prior. There are a lot more than you who are upset about this change on a dps level and I was getting a little overzealous in trying to make people understand what the core idea behind celestial is.

I said the set was designed to evenly give stats across the board as a general use set. It isn’t supposed to be better than any other set at a specific area. It is supposed to offer people the chance to run a jack of all trades build. I still think that this change has been coming for a long time. They tuned it down in PvP so much that typically only d/d eles use it. It is underwhelming and this is part of that fix. You will deal damage still. It won’t be spectacular, but for everything else it offers it will be amazing!

I can’t wait to run it in wvw on my d/d ele! I will survive better, heal better, and still be able to help pressure the enemy.

Honestly..if DPS is your goal there are better options! You can mix sets for better stats if you aren’t using everything on celestial.

And no Lunatic, we’re not ignoring you because your points are vaild, we’re ignoring you because of a line in your original comment – “Unless, of course, you were abusing it for the crit damage?…” Critical damage is pretty much celestial’s primary stat, so obviously everyone using Berserker’s is “abusing” power, everyone using Clerics is “abusing” healing power, Sentinel’s “abuses” vitality, and so on…

It’s not because we can’t address your comments that we’re ignoring them, merely that you’ve invalidated them yourself so there’s no point for us to do it as well.

Looking at it in that light, it would be the equivalent to saying this… “As Berserker’s deals too much damage, and it’s power is obviously being abused, what we’ll do is this; remove Berserker’s power primary, and replace it with a power secondary stat. In consolation, as this reduction will be huge, we’ll give a 6% increase to all stats…” If that was done, every power hungry min-maxer would be having a coronary trying to stop ANet from going forward, but since they’re doing EXACTLY the same thing to a considerably weaker stat – celestial, none of those people care.

I’m sorry you have such a powerful reading disability.

As I have said, and Nike has said, the intended use for celestial is in a general build that makes use of all the stats. I highly doubt that anet intended for it to have thisuch crit, but it couldn’t be helped because the general stat spread.

Crit is remaining one of seven main stats on celestial. I use and love celestial gear and I love this change. It will be an amazing move for anyone making full use of the set. The only ones who are concerned are those who are exploiting how much crit is available in the set.

Celestial never was and never will be a set that has crit as aain stat. Anet has already mentioned making a set with crit as the main stat in addition to the sets we have. That would seem to imply the high amount on celestial gear was not intended.

Simply put: you’re using the set wrongly if this change hurts you.

The Current Syzygy is 54 to 6 stats and 7% crit damage. That crit damage as a percentage is equivalent to ~60 stat points under the current system (we can see examples of 68 being equivalent to 7%, so the changeover is right in there between 60-68)

After the patch the Necklace will have 57 in everything. For a loss of 3 points (maximum 10 points lost if it were secretly 67 beforehand) it gained 18 points in stats that aren’t being nerfed. If all you ever cared about was the crit damage you lost 3 points of Ferocity. If you actually used Celestial because it contributes a bit to everything the change is a fabulous deal!

I am right there with you!!! I’m looking forward to the changes!

Apparently I’m either invisible or my points are too valid…

Man… people really like to throw “completely worthless” around where it can undermine their entire argument the most, don’t they?

Exactly. I really dislike the way people use the word ‘viable’ when the word they are looking for is ‘optimal’ or ‘preferred’.

I have used and will continue to use full celestial gear on my ele, even after the feature pack. I think a lot of people miss the point. Yes, celestial gear has a lot of crit. No, that is not what it was designed for. It was designed to be an amazing general-use set for those who can take advantage of every stat. If you were using it for the high crit then I do apologize, but this fix (not Nerf) has been a long time coming. That is why celestial gear was tuned down in PvP. Unsurprisingly it will now be properly balanced and perfectly viable (able to be used to reach success) in all aspects of the game. I don’t care if it isn’t your preference for gear optimization. If you don’t make use of all the stats you should have been mixing other sets to get more of the stats you do use. Unless, of course, you were abusing it for the crit damage?

As others have said, this is the first step towards fixing the ‘zerker only’ mentality. There will be more changes and even your ‘viability’ ‘preferences’ may change. Let us stop complaining and trust the people who have the true numbers? If the people who are using celestial gear for its intended purpose (such as myself) complain, then I believe anet will do what is needed.

On light armor and metal the best match appears to be Violet Breeze. Hope this helps anyone who stumbles across this like I did. I was more hoping to find an entire color scheme to match the rainbows fluidly.
