Dungeons as a ranger?

Ignore the people crying that rangers are useless, they’re usually just bad players that can’t play without being told which corner to stand in and spam 1. Rangers can bring a huge amount to a team, it’s true we have some problems that need to be fixed, but skilful play as a ranger will be incredible. I agree with what the others have said about Brazil’s build that kind of thing is really amazing, it not only does incredible damage itself, but with frost spirits, war horn Jungle stalkers mighty roar, Spotter, vulnerability, it’s really brings incredible amount of extra damage for your whole party, you’ll really notice it. But it also has decent enough healing, bring healing spring and you can blast finish it with your war horn and leap finish it with your #2 on your sword, also; if you want a bit more healing if you’re worried about squishyness, which you shouldn’t be, you can take a Fern hound, the F2 skill is a pretty modest heal and regen, but if you switch to it while your inside your healing spring the Dog’s leap attack will also trigger your healing spring so even more AoE heals. I also find that sometimes while the damage isn’t as great in PvE from a great sword as it is with a 1hand sword, for certain more heavy damage dealing bosses etc, you might want to take it as your second weapon set, because you will evade every third attack which is HUGE, and you also have more dodges on the 1h sword. The real danger you have to watch out for is auto attack with a 1 hand sword can be pretty dangerous if you’re not used to it. it has a habit of getting stuck and making you leap back when you want to dodge, you should always turn off auto attack on the sword, you don’t want any embarrassing…. Leap off the cliff auto attack moments… I can promise you, they take forever to live down….

It’s crazy that they’re nerfing that, compared to what other classes have as similar traits/utilities compared to the ranger and they nerf the ranger’s? warriors can have 2x endure pain, while we have to put 30 into a trait to make signet of stone have the same effect on a longer cool down? I just can’t understand the justification to the constant stream of nerfs to the ranger, the game’s balance is quickly becoming a joke : / The Dev team simply can’t be listening or playing a ranger in wvw/pve

New Pets!

I really, really want a lion, but when it come to Dragons and Griffons etc, even maybe lions, it just begs the question, why would you ever use another pet? kinda of too cool to compete with really imo anyway, which is why i think having them but as a kind of “Legendary pet” would be epic, kind of like the Rainbow Phoenix from guild wars 1. Pets that only become tamable at certain times or after certain things. Like when 3 rangers use call of the wild at the same time, they summon a Mist Wolf, make that a tamable legendary pet, but make it harder. so it is only tamable if players do it at night certain days of the month, at a certain place in Tyria. I really think the Legendary pet idea would be amazing, and add a much need deeper RP element to Gw2, also a type of character progression that would be fun instead of a grind. However i don’t think these pets should have different stats to their base families, maybe slightly unique F2 abilities but nothing that would make them better than any other pet, other than looks wise.

Dear rangers...

I nearly exclusively use #4 to save allies from being stomped, because it doesn’t work when someone’s in my face so i rarely bother, Guardians however seem to love banishing people that are downed and about to be stomped or out of my stunned maul victim, no doubt there are rangers that miss use it, like the amount of great sword mesmers that miss use their knock back or eles that miss use theirs etc etc, blaming the ranger doesn’t much help with the miss guided anti ranger stigma

I think it’s partly that they’re very forgiving classes, but also that sometimes it’s just really fun to smash stuff >.<, seriously it’s hard to have more fun than a hammer on either class :P, they also both support the group while not really losing anything themselves, while other classes might drop their own DPS to increase the parties, my war for example can stack might like crazy on the group and only makes it easy to smash stuff…

Clockheart, hologens and rubber banding.

This is one of the most frustrating things I’ve ever encountered in a boss fight especially when you’re dodging the falling gears and trying to look out for the holograms, even more annoying when it rubberbands you way further away than is justified into a cog, it’s incredibly annoying and needs to be fixed. the generators being destroyed and disappearing would be much better. I love the feel of this dungeon and i love the living story but with this and the camera in the Queen’s Gauntlet and various other things, i’m worried the devs are mistaking annoying content for challenging content.

whats the issues Rangers have with pets?

I love my pets dearly and to be honest there have been a number of times in PvE and WvW where my pets have genuinely saved me and my comrades, most frequent of course being my Wolf ‘Chopstixs’ saving people from being stomped or helping crowd control, but and it’s a HUGE but, frankly they just don’t work… For example, i would love to use a snow leopard, i like the idea of having a cat dps that also offers some cc in the form of a chill but, whenever i hit F2 instead of leaping to my foe and rending them a new kitten hole with their icy claws they just kind of… rear up and well i can only describe it as “wave” at them. the F2s simple don’t activate when you want them to, and what’s worse is that it’s not even a continual amount of error, sometime it might wait a few seconds before it does it, sometimes it might go out for a coffee break first, so you can’t even account for the delay and pre cast accordingly.
My greatest personal strife with pets though is that they can not hit moving targets, this is such a huge issue, this is doubly frustrating because in my opinion it also drives the choice of pet, i would love to use a dog and a bird or a cat, but i feel that the extra dps is wasted because they won’t hit the target i’m attacking, so i just stick to two dogs because i know i can at least call of them for some crowd control if i need it.
to be honest, no matter what changes they make while the pets attacks are so unlikely to hit and F2s so unreliable, it won’t fix anything.
Having said all that i don’t want people reading this thinking it’s not worth making a ranger it’s still a lot of fun to play, and you can, with practice perform well, it’s just it’s kind of massively unfair that our mechanic is crippled as such, hell could you imagine if burst skills or thieves steals couldn’t hit moving targets?

I also find it slightly frustrating that rangers need to use Grand master traits just to get our signet’s active effect to work on us.

Introduce counters to Stealth mechanic in WvW

I agree with completely with the idea that the game needs more counters to stealth, if for no other reason than it’s very lore/logic/immersion breaking, if I’m a ranger, that has explored and survived From the Shiverpeak mountains, to the Ruins of Orr, i even have a trait called ‘eagle eye’ how can I suddenly lose sight of someone while I’m, say rapid firing, at them and my wolf is biting at their legs? Stealth is a great idea, if a player can sneak up behind someone and stab them in the back, then of course the damage should be horrific, but they shouldn’t be able to then just disappear again while they’re being attacked, it doesn’t make sense, and I think it would be much more interesting, and really sort the skilled thieves from the heart seeker spammers, if stealth enabled a player to sneak up on a key target and quickly take them out, instead of just being a near unstoppable escape mechanism. It would make playing a thief more challenging and interesting as well as pretty much just making sense…
