Just got this email:

I haven’t played the game in months, maybe a year.
I went in and changed my password and linked the authenticator app.
Is this a bogus email?
I haven’t even the game installed to go online and check.
I wrote on here about these errors when the game first arrived and they are still happening, this is truly disgraceful.
This was one of the reasons I gave up playing.
imo they will never fix this the only solution is to install win 7 64 on a bootcamp partition.
Good luck.
There will be tons and tons of players using the OSX Client who don’t visit the forums and have zero problems.
Or just move on without saying anything.
All of my tweets in the past have gone unanswered… Other than some smart bummed player who decided to chastise me for something or another.
I was considering making a fb and twitter post after the 1 month mark of this thread, but if any of you want to sooner, have a go at it
Given the title of this thread, I don’t think they would care.
Tried a fresh install, the dstbits crash is a programming error.
I would try:
Repair your hard drive and repair permission with disk utility.
Turn off firewall.
You could try running it from another account. If preference or cache files are corrupted this may help.
If that doesn’t work the only things you can really do is to delete the client and any associated files in the cache and preferences in your library.
Re-install and try again.
Tickets have been submitted months ago, this has been happening since it was released.
They are doing nothing about it. It took me ages to get world completion as every time I went into wvwvw and went near a crowd the client crashed. It also happens in the world whenever there are more than around 15 or 20 players about.
The only fix is to fix the client and only ncsoft or whoever programmed it can do that.
Dstbits is to do with Direct x I believe. Because direct x is only on windows it needs to be translated to OpenGL this is were the crashing happens. If this is the case only an update to the mac client/runtime environment will solve the issue.
It’s striking that Turbine over on LOTRO released a mac client as well and it too crashes frequently and they too have not done a thing about it.
For me mac clients seem to be a money grab with very little thought or resources put into supporting them.
The game whilst not amazing is good whist levelling, after that it’s terrible.
Poster, nothing to do once you cap.
I’m not up for grinding but I am in favour of progression, how you separate them I don’t know.
The problem with the game is that you progress from level 1 to 80 all the time improving your weapons, stats amour etc. This is great and I enjoyed it. You had a reason to take part in events and do quests. When I reached 80 I had nearly enough gold saved up to buy a full set of exotics, weapons and armour, now I can’t really go any further. You can’t make your character better. You can improve you fighting skills but there really is a limit to this.
pvp and wvwvw doesn’t appeal, nor does running the same dungeons and fractals day after day.
So the game has finished, it’s just the credits have not rolled up, a bug?
An anet dev and his mate are in a bar.
Mate "So how’s the Mac client going?’
Dev “There’s a Mac client?”
If the camera spinning is the same camera spinning problem I get then pressing enter to go to the chat window then click on the main screen or enter again to come out of the chat window usually clears that for me.
Yes lets hope something is done, we paid as much as everyone else for this game.
If they made a Mac port they should support it and at least attempt to fix the major crashing problems, a simple “we are working on it” would help a lot.
I have to echo the views here, the game crashes usually 2-3 times each session. It’s the dstbits thing I reported before but it’s still doing the same. There has been zero progress on this serious bug.
It looks like it’s been a case of, put out a cider wrapper and we will sell a few more copies to mac users unwilling to go the bootcamp direction. Once they have done that they seem to have left it and walked away.
It’s a real shame but this is the way it looks.
The game is average at best certainly not good.
Nothing to do and little rewards. 1 shell in 10 kills waste of time.
Did not attend/got one in mail
When you see Cameron and Osbourne laugh on tv and “Shout I am Furious!”
err…. I do that anyway.
Seeing a lot of overrun camps in Malchor etc. Very few people around.
The Mac client works 99% of the time especially when running around the maps.
The main problem for me anyway is when there is a large events, wvwvw, large events such as killing the dragon in Frostgorge etc. The client seems to have big problems with lots of players. If it crashed when out on the map it’s not such a big problem but during events you may relog to find you are too late to get the reward or in the middle of a crowd of mobs etc. In wvwvw it’s a disaster as when you relog you come back to the place you where before you went to wvwvw. The run back times are that bad it’s often not worth trying to get back in.
I hope you don’t have any problems but later in the game you may. Perhaps by that time they will have found the problems.
Most probably Yes, apparently it uses directx so unless there is a complete rewrite it’s always bootcamp or emulated.
I think the only way of avoiding it is bootcamp. I really only seen it in heavy traffic areas such a wvwvw but lately also in cursed shore. It’s pretty much guaranteed to crash while storming a keep in wvwvw, if that’s any help devs.
I came over from Lotro where I had a top level hunter, nearly all the gear v good stats. I seen the ranger on here but the pet put me off but I thought I’d give it a go anyway.
The ranger most definitely is dps lacking. On lotro in pve without a pet and at full range I can down an on level warrior before he reaches me on gw2 I get him down to maybe 1/2 – 3/4 he just runs past the pet on GW2. I think we should be able to kill things before they get to us, you are hitting a creature with 10 or more arrows.
Now people will say you can’t compare the two because the pet makes up for this difference but the fact is it’s not. It gets ignored and in only a few cases it’s useful, one of them is distracting guards whilst I run in and get a poi or whatever. Yea great.
So I have a suggestion for the devs go over to Lotro and see how the hunter performs there, in pve it is a great class to play the ranger on gw2 is just so-so with a stupid annoying pet.
I can’t comment on pvp because I don’t play it.
Not in favour of subs but this is what happens when you don’t sub they don’t give a ****.
Means not having to smell the Risens breath.
Quick Feedback - Great Client, Minor Bugs Remain

Hate to burst your bubble but the client is not great. There are many crashing errors now, a lot more work needs to be done.
I would agree with Flammingfoxx, the machine is probably getting too hot and freezing as a result. Try logging periodically to let it cool down.
Same setup as you Harmsworth, I was only playing wvwvw to get the last of the poi’s etc. I don’t play pvp.
Between this and tbh being bored I have erased the game of the hard drive.
Just had another one this time in wvwvw, relogged to find myself back in Cursed shore, not going to even bother to try to get in.
Getting a consistent crash in heavily populated events. error is dstbits or similar.
Pay someone to travel around the known bot areas and bounce these people.
Last night we were doing Arah and there was 5 standing there in the middle of the area.
Do these extra numbers mean the event is scaled up therefore making it harder for the real players? If that is so it’s very annoying,
Disappointed especially when we see the other classes being worked on.
Or like Lotro’s hunter not have a pet, up the dps, traps etc. Or give us a choice dps and traps or pet, I know what I would choose
Annoying when climbing, if you fall a few feet the pet wakes up and you have to stow.
You are running past mobs the pet wakes up and you have to swap or ask it to follow.
It is handy for aggrroing everything, I’ve got plenty of commune skill points while the pet fights champs etc. This also allows you to run past lots of mobs.
So 6 of one…..
A perm stow would be nice.
Seeing loads of other classes wipe out mobs very quickly while I’m pew pewing and walking backwards. Rangers are underpowered imo.
It’s not laziness, I have a number of areas at 99% completed because of bugged skill points. I thought it would be useful to have a list in game that showed the percentage of each area you have completed so that you didn’t have to keep a list or spreadsheet.
I don’t want a list of quests, poi’s, vistas that I need to do.
As has been said the information is obviously on the system, it would be nice to see it.
Would it be possible to have a list of areas visited with their % completed.
At the minute, unless I’ve missed something, you have to be in the area to see it’s completion percentage. It costs in game money to visit the area by waypoint.
With a list I can see where I need to go.
How many rangers does it take to change a light bulb?
Infinite, the second ranger gets killed reviving the first, the third ranger gets killed reviving the second……
What best describes us Rangers?
We are a load of flankers.
Question: Will there ever be a native OS X version?

I think the best to hope for is a native gw3, if enough Mac users ask for it it may be a possibility. If Arenanet started with the two platforms in mind it would be much easier.
Character continues to run after I stop controlling her.

On a similar problem I get the spinnies from time to time were the camera spins around the character. Jumping and pulling up the map sometimes stopes this behaviour.
I don’t think so but you may have trouble getting to the pet in a much higher level area.
Try repairing permissions it may help.
Getting the spinning problem with the camera just spinning around the character and also the dragging camera problem as Haligator describes. The dragging problem seems to happen when you enter the water.
The funny thing is i used to get the spinnies as I call them when playing lotro on xp, although they seem to have solved it as I didn’t get it for a long time.
Mac Pro 2009 6gb, hd 4870 2,66ghz quad core
Game plays fine on Windows getting 50fps most settings on high
Game plays fine on Mac getting around 25-30 fps most settings on high too.
When i first loaded the beta the graphics actually looked better than on windows, better colour.
Only tried for about an hour but what I’ve seen game is certainly playable on this machine.
I hope the coders can improve, every thing helps, but it’s a great first effort.
