As an officer from INVI, let me put an end to this drama:
Warriorjrd does not speak for the guild. It is his opinion and only his. Elpro, you should know due to incidents of the past that he has his reasons but outsiders will not understand and therefore:
Warrior has been warned for this conversation holding on open forums and we take care of him from here on.
BUT also for the folks of DVG: I kindly ask you to take care of your members and not provoke him on personal level again, I won’t stop him if he needs to defend himself.
So, end to this drama and from this point:
Good luck to DVG and hope to fight you someday on the battlefield.

How can you “evade” their backstab when they are stealthed?
I’m giving you some really good advice, its very very easy.
First:
go make a thief and learn about his stealth skills, their animation and the duration. Than you will know how long your bells should ring when a thief is “gone”. This is not a troll, i could also tell you how long durations are, yet you wouldn’t be able to see the difference between cloak and dagger, blinding powder, Black Poweder & heartseeker combo, Hide in Shadows vica verca.
Once you know how to read the animation and the duration of the skills, you are one step closer to outplay the thief.
Second:
When you “see” a thief disappearing, it does not matter where he goes. He might runs away, he might makes a circle around you to hit you from the backside.
Simple trick: Never ever stand still to try to figure out where he went.
Just keep running in circles, never a straight line. This is what backstab thiefs like me makes mad like hell.
He will not land his backstab in 95% of the cases on you, when you keep moving and if he does, the odds that he hits you from the front & side are higher and therefor, lower Backstab damage. Also, the range of backstab (autoattack) ist merely 130 range, so might even miss the whole duration of his stealth.
The best encounter, is to “kite” a mele thief around. There are a dozen of situations how a thief will close the cap between you and him to hit you. Steal, Infilitator Signet, name it…
it does not matter if you keep moving because he will not be able to land his Backstab on you properly.
And if he does, he was really good timed/positioned and therefor you should give him the credit for killing you because both of you did fight to counter each other untill one of you goes down.
and just as a sidenote:
I hate fighting engis. I had yesterday a 5 min fight with a ping pong engi 1 on 1… but i died when the guardian joined the fight with a beloved spirit hammer… doh!
sorry, i meant hidden thief (VIII trait of SA), lol ^^"
edited it in the other post ^^
I play a very similar build in tPvP
DD/SB
10 DA with Mug (III)
30 CS with Furious Retaliation (I) & Critical Haste (X) & Hidden Killer (XII)
30 SA with Shadow’s Embrace (IV) & Hidden Thief (VIII) & Shadow’s Rejuvenation (XI)
Utilities:
Hide in Shadows
Shadow Refuge
Blinding Powder
Signet of Shadows
Thief’s Guild
If you change DA to Trickery, i’d leave hidden thief as a shadow step with stealth option and replace the master of deception. With C&D you have more than enough stealth but ofc you also can replace hidden thief. (though, i personally love the combination of Hidden thief & Mug and saves me from the “c&d – steal” combi as a “cheaper” start off)
Trickery or Mug or Acrobatics, it all depends on your personal preferences. While Trickery buffs you and gives you 3 initative with steal, Deadly arts will DPS & poisoning your target and with Acrobatics you could boost yourself with more mobility (swiftness on evade) with as example buffing you to get more might when evade.
But really. Instead of Master of Deception, choose either Infusion of Shadows to regain Initative like ZLE suggested or Shadow’s Embrace for Condition Removal. It saved my life a lot of times.

Well,
So i’ve always running a stealth thief. Now i have a stealth&heal&backstab build, so any stealth is my escape and rescue.
I’m using Shadow’s Embrace and Shadow’s Rejuvenation. I thought, there might be an issue with the traits not working propperly with healing and removing conditions and may kicks me out of stealth because of it?
But lately, i’ve noticed that i get far more often"immune" when using stealth skills. I noticed it because those were critical situations i needed my stealth to survive and just didn’t stealthed at all. Question is: why.
No, I do not have the revealed buff nore it run out just a second before.
I’m very much aware that you get the immune, when you have the revealed buff and it may has a little delay for 1 seconds because of latency when trying to stealth again.
I tested also the possibility of waterfields kicking me out of stealth. They do not and i don’t get immune to stealth, in fact. I noticed it might has something to do with conditions on me. While i have the "remove condition in stealth trait’ something seems to kick me out of stealth before removing more conditions and shows “immune” as well.
Am I’m not aware of a condition or skill/situation kicking you out of stealth, when hit by it? (excluding knowdowns out of shadowrefuge here). I repeat. Its not the revealed buff, also i tested if waterfields of the enemy/ally could cause it. Also negative.

if the dinstance between you and the target is the range of your weapon 1 skill, all your signets and steal will trigger autoattack, this has always been like that.
“Buff-signets” and steal&stealth do not work with range weapons such as pistol/Shortbow because of the range of the weapon 1 skill. Try it. You can not steal with shortbow without autoattack, and using a signet to “buff” only works when your rangemeter under your weapon 1 skill is red.
This is the reason why you can not use steal&stealth or Assassin Signet in close combat without using weapon skill 1 right after and it seems bugged.
Believe me, it is not.
If you know about it and pay attention to it, you will learn to work around. You will be glad to be able to not need to spam weapon skill 1 just because it could break stealth and you will have to be more aware of your target and improve your play as thief.
You have 2 options here. You either deactivate auto attack or you learn to pay attention to the range/distance beween you and your target.
Here, my example for steal & stealth: While in close combat and your steal gets up, start to run away of your target, he/she will follow. Watch the red bar under your weapon 1, as soon its red “out of range” use steal.
You will teleport back to the target behind you and stealth. Now, because he followed you and kept running, he will be in front of you now → if you hit 1 right after steal you get an instant backstab.
