As a scepter/dagger necro, I pop into it almost every battle for DS4 and as an Enfeebling Shroud refresh. It helps tear up groups. Also use it for condition removal in some areas.
Yes, as soon as I could.
As described in the Wintersday summary post, he’ll be at Lion’s Arch on the 20th. At that point in time, you can “stop by, play through all the previous toy events inside the workshop, or try out the new Toypocalypse event!”

Having the same problem on Jade Quarry. Quite annoying—in my case, there are two kraits floating in mid-air. Can’t attack them.
Attended, was disconnected after about 90 minutes (before event was complete). Subsequently logged into an overflow server. About 2-2.5 hours later, overflow event completed. Looted chest. Did not receive mail.
Well Scribe, welcome to Guild Wars. Changing traits, skills, and having a few extra pieces of gear on the side for certain occasions is part of the game (we have special “gear” bags specifically for this). It’s always been part of the game. In the original it was such a prevalent part of the game that you had four pre-sets for weapons and a template system to save specific builds and swap them on the fly.
This was something I always enjoyed in GW—the extreme versatility of skills and builds (metagame notwithstanding). Having loadable/swappable templates in GW2 is definitely a top 5 want list item for me.
I’ve never had it happen without being hit. Dodging to evade attacks works, as does having an Aegis effect. One of the best benefits when I play my guardian is having Aegis available as I run past mobs.
Definitely will add my support to this. I’ve been wanting to zoom out further since the game started. Please, ANet, hear our cry and let us better experience the beautiful world you created.
1 of each profession, but didn’t enjoy the Ranger or Elementalist or Engineer, so they’re pretty much unplayed. The other five get a lot of playtime, with Thief/Necro/Guardian being my favorites.
Back in the day, I was heavily into Everquest; an every-night end game raider with not much else going on. Unfortunately, to stay at the top of the heap, logging an insane amount of hours was a necessity, not an option.
Now that I’m older, married, and with a new child, I’m only too happy that Guild Wars gives me that option. I still put in some long sessions, but being able to dip in for 30-60 minutes, have some fun, and then put it away without worrying about falling behind…well, it’s a wonderful, liberating feeling. GW2 is just what I’ve been looking for. Always fun to play, tons of content to explore, but doesn’t put a choke hold on my leisure time.
I love the waypoints. I also love exploring, and enjoy unlocking waypoints and traveling through this very well-developed world. You can’t zap around the world without having gotten there first. That’s a very fair system that encourages exploration.
As others have mentioned, however, I can’t comprehend how the presence of teleportation breaks immersion in a world where every other person possesses awesome magical talents that turn pieces of wood and iron into laser-beaming, creature-summoning, magic-launching, teleport-enabling weapons.
Also not a fan of this. I’m all for optional grouping. I have no problem needing a group for the various story dungeons. I certainly don’t mind other people grouping—the choice is the important thing.
The personal story, however, should be just that—personal.
Really, the omission of spear as a land-based weapon surprised me. It seems astonishing that we can whip it out underwater, but have no concept of how to use it when we’re dry.
Agree on all counts. In particular, the lack of greater zoom flexibility bothers me, particularly in a game that demands attention to your surroundings.
I bounce around between multiple characters, but have accrued 7 or 8 keys. Something I’ve noticed is that opening a chest with a key frequently results in the key being returned to me. The keys seem to top out around 4 or 5 uses before finally disappearing. If nothing else, at least you get a lot of mileage out of them.
I agree that the tonics are annoying, though. The only use I’ve found for them is for running through zones and avoiding combat/aggro.
Human female doesn’t say it, either. However, once or twice I swear I’ve heard it as if it were at very low volume. It could simply have been my imagination.
Had the same problem with that quest. Mobs constantly were disappearing into the world, making it quite frustrating.
