Feedback is not “negativity”. Yes, there are some out there who are just saying “Anet sucks I’m leaving 4EVAR”, but there are others who legitimately want to give our thoughts — good and bad — on events as a whole.

and I’m not speaking of honest respectful feedback… but rather your first example..

I have to give ANet Kudos for the weekend events…

were they perfect no…

personally I didn’t have the lag or disconnect at the end.. I hope this was a small percentage of folks.. and it would be great if they could figure out how to identify the people that did not get to their chest because of a disconnect and send them a little something..

all that aside… I’ve been playing MMO’s for longer than I care to admit and something I’ve heard in all these years was a desire for LIVE events that left a mark on the world.. that’s what this weekend was about.. and I hope the Devs aren’t discouraged by all the negativity and continue to build on these events… it was very kewl to actually be a part of the world of Tyria changing… FOREVER! not just for 20mins until the chain ends and repeats..

I’m not sure just how much folks thought they should get for an event like this.. but it seems for some the expectations were unrealistically high..

I will give one critique… today’s battle was a bit on the looonnnggg side and got a bit boring about the second wave… could have been a tad shorter.. perhaps only one wave…

now as to what’s left behind… mainly the gear gating… well I’ll leave that alone as this post is strictly about the weekend LIVE event…

ToA… remember how well that worked…

for me its the idea of gear gating content…. every time I’ve seen it, it has only led to narrowing the best of the game to only a few…

I have no answers, but I suspect a day will come when the technology will catch up to the idea of a more emotionally complex game..

Radiance all but killed LotRO at the time… I watched people leave in droves… before radiance pretty much anyone could enjoy the end game dungeon… after radiance only a selected few ever got to see the end game content… this sounds very similar to me… ANet…. look to what has happened to other MMOs and learn…

oh… after Radiance decimated the LotRO community it was pulled from the game…

Many new high end enemies will inflict Agony. With your standard gear, they’ll be still doable with a bit extra effort, but each new piece of Ascended gear you acquire will cause them to progressively lose a bit of their aura of dread and enigma. It’s a nice replication of the Infusion mechanic against the Mursaat in GW1.

Ask Turbine how this same sort of system worked for LotRO… dungeon gating.. locking off content/items except for a select group and type of player (raiders)… it turned LotRO into a ghost town… if fact it did so much damage to the community that they eventually pulled the system out of the game..

why is it you always have to be a raider to get to the best content and gear… really disappointed.. again…

I’m a level 69 Sylvari Ranger on my level 55 personal story quest “A Light in the Darkness”..

This is where you follow the Pale Tree through Orr.. I’ve just past the step of talking to each of Divinity’s Edge and have followed the Pale Tree to a crypt of some sort..

I’ve tried speaking to her over and over and can not get her to respond and move the quest forward.. yes, I have her selected..

also how do you get out of stuck instances? there should be an escape option in these things..

I can’t even get this new control to work…

clicking the arrows do not work.. the little hand with the arrows doesn’t seem to do anything… I can’t enter anything manually…. trying to get this thing to work is just pissin me off…

my mistake.. I was indeed missing a page…

I have all the pages but when I try turn them in to Tassi she doesn’t acknowledge them and complete the quest… am I missing something?

I decided to go with the RP server so joined another guild… otherwise would be right out there with these guys… great folks!

Just to add to the voices of frustration…

I was so excited when my CE arrived exactly on release day…. grabbed my code and ran to the computer…

What I want to know.. is why not simply have an option to enter your code at the login in screen? bamm.. done!

No… It took forever to even find where to place it… and when doing so they clearly asked for “Guild Wars” login.. not Guild Wars 2…

Even than I didn’t put my Guild Wars login in the first time because I had heard of all the problems, I didn’t want to link my accounts until I had mine registered and knew everything was set..

Hit enter… wth.. it said something along the lines of I had a Guild Wars account and sent me right back.. so this time I reluctantly used my “Guild Wars” account just like it said… and guess what… I ended up creating a new account rather than linking with my headstart/pre-order account..

I now see exactly what happened and I feel the responsibility lands squarely at ANet for not being clear at all during the registration process..

After three form letters were it was obvious nobody was even reading my email I said to heck with it and bought another copy of the game so I could register my headstart account before it expired..

My next step was two days of carefully planning when to delete Characters on my headstart account so I could recreate them on my new CE account..

Alright good enough, I only lost a few days and $60… in the grand scheme of an MMO that’s not much..

Well now to make the situation worse.. I had bought gems during headstart, so I figure rather than just let them go to waste I’d transfer them to gold and mail them off to my new Character.. NO can’t even do that! two lousy gold and I can’t mail it to myself because of limits on sending coin.. so another $35 down the drain..

I’ve spent nearly $300 at this point and still really don’t have what I paid for… I’ve started over I’m happy with my new account but I’d really like to at the very least get the darn two gold from my headstart account instead of watching it go to waste..

anyway… it really took what should have been a fun experience on release day and turned it into frustration…
