One of the primary things which is disappointing about the existing system is the matchups have been very uneven for SF and we tend to get rolled over. I don’t think that is necessarily fun for anyone. We all basically enter the WvW realm because we want a more interesting competition with actual humans rather than AIs that can be fooled by standing on a rock in the landscape and watching them ram it incessantly. I won’t pretend to know how to balance the human element. Trying to think that someone is going to be motivated more by fair play than loot bags would seem to be unlikely. However, there may be some elements form PvE that can be used to offset the mismatches.
1) What if the NPC defenders scaled comparative to the blobs that were attacking? The outmanned buff should apply to the NPCs as well. A Keep boss scaling to Legendary might help offset serious imbalances such as a 60 man zerg vs. 5 defenders. There might also be additional siege elements freely available for the lower players.
2) Give rewards for defending a location as well. One frustration I have always found in manning siege equipment is there isn’t many bags, XP or glory involved even though a well placed Cow can stop a siege dead in its tracks. That would also incentivize to keep manning the defenses even when it’s night and there are only 2 of you on your map.
3) My biggest complaint is the Mist Wars seems to have lacked a theme from the very beginning except “everyone is fighting everyone from different worlds.” This game is called GUILD WARS. In no other area is there a potential for that to actually happen except in WvW. There should be a way of guilds challenging one another to matches. I don’t see why a map instance could not be dedicated to this. Overflow guildies could be set to engage static defenses in some areas to offset the damage. Or alternatively we have a region set on one of the lower tier maps and just honor battle it out in some open arena. It would be more like a WWE match that way with another guild possibly betraying the neutrality charging in an helping the other guild out.
4) If income has been an issue with WvW then put something in the game we can buy for WvW. An Uber siege engine or some ridiculous thing that can only be deployed when you are outmanned. Might make it interesting for the low ball guys. I personally would enjoy running a mega siege Golem.
Just brainstorming.
The only problem I have with the power supply option is I’m not experiencing this problem with other games or graphics. I ran Furmark for an hour got up to 76 degrees and it didn’t crash out. I ran a long term scan of the memory on the PC and got no errors. I’ll keep trying things and let you know if I can lock this down to one issue. I intend to get a few other graphics intensive games and see what happens. If it is hardware it should be able to reproduced the crash.

When I’m playing the game for a varying amount of time, the screen will suddenly change to multi-colored checkerboard patterns. The sound is still playing, but the keyboard and mouse become unresponsive. Eventually, the screen goes out, then the sound dies, and if I wait long enough the system powers itself down. If I didn’t know any better I’d think I was running with a memory hole that just sucks up resources until the system crashes. Unfortunately, no errors are generated to reference. Windows only notes in its log that an unexpected shutdown occurred. I have updated video drivers, I have verified other drivers are updated, I verified bios is the most current, I rolled back drivers on the video, I’m running the new Omega beta drivers now, I tried shutting down all background items, turned off the anti-virus software, ran the program in Windows 7 compatability, ran it regular, ran with minimum specs, ran with maximum specs. I unplugged the headphones and ran without sound. I ran with wireless modem, I ran plugged into the router. No matter what I try I end up with the same thing. I would suspect the new system was the problem, but my laptop did almost the exact same thing before it died. The GPU on the laptop failed in much the same manner, but with straight vertical lines. I’ve been a loyal customer for years now, but frankly I’m getting exhausted.
Seems to me they could make a more accurate measure of server participation if they simply added the WvW ranks for all participants together and weighted that. If you are active, you are going to get ranks. If you aren’t you didn’t….
