Surbrus- PvP in GW2 is objective based. Lone assassins killing lone vulnerable targets do very little work towards hitting those objectives. They are pretty much a tangent to the actual game type.
You are wrong on this in WvWvW. As the supply lines route play a big part of it. You can have a group of people guarding a yak 24/7 and one thief can still kill it no matter what you do. Sure you can kill them, but not before that yak dies. The only other class I have seen close to doing this is an elementalist, but they can be SEEN.

Thieves are broken. Having played stealth classes in pretty much every MMO since UO ( We got nerfed there and people still got got so kitten they made a whole realm so they didn’t have to deal with us or any type of ganking.) DaoC had it just about right on the way a stealth class should work and they still torked people off.

I am a Thief, stealth and the various ways we can get into it while in combat, abuse the poorly coded engine, and heal and remove conditions, stake people, etc are bad game design and should have never went live in the first place. The whole initiative system is just bad design on a stealth class. They told them so in beta. It will be changed or they will lose players, probably a lot of them. It has happened in every game since UO and it will happen with this one.

I would learn from IoJ, just as we have learned from TC moving up to Tier 2 . We have learned and adapted to their supply camp tactics and yak hunting, overall making us stronger in the long run.

I enjoy reading this post compared to ours though as you folks seem to be having fun. Don’t become like us in Tier 2, and get all hateful. I hope it doesn’t rub off on TC as well. But SoR and BG really, really, don’t like each other all that much and it shows in the forums.

An easy new set of maps to add, would be to do what the original Planetside did. Just make a series of new maps, one for each borderland and one for EB that are underground . The underground maps would limit areas where you actually need to code for siege, invulnerability areas, etc. and be pretty quick to implement.

You could then later add another set of maps that take place in the clouds above each BL and EB.

@terrahero you are wrong on the way you think. You need both organized guilds and pugs to actually have the game survive. You can have a dedicated guild of 50 players, but if those 600 pugs running around don’t feel supported, they leave and your guild is left with 50 players fighting 50 other players, on a server they will shut down because it doesn’t make business sense.

When all the fish are gone, the sharks just eat each other and the game dies.

Some people at Anet need to lose their job. Someone one high up.

You have a goldmine sitting at your fingertips and you are ignoring it and letting it rot away. There are hundreds of games out there that do PVE, and your PVE really isn’t that spectacular. There are maybe three that do WvWvW type Pvp. You have a built in audience that would play your game for years if you would just direct your focus to the part of the business.

Go subscription fee, tailor items in the BLT to WvWvW, but this interview basically say’s yeah we know your out there but we don’t really have time for you. We want to focus on our pve and our non-exsistant e-sport sPvp/tpvp which is sub-par to most games.

Came to this game with ten others, hoping WvWvW would be more than it is. There’s only two left. The others won’t be coming back, unless WvWvW is your focus. You got a box fee out of them, but all the money you could be making from the store or a sub fee is gone now.

Enjoy your money grab, you’ll soon earn a rep like Funcom and no one will buy your future games.

If SoR had the Oceanic/Asian coverage that BG had, they wouldn’t be sitting in Tier 2 that’s for sure. It’s like you guys purposely lose points so you never have to leave Tier 2, so you can pump your chest and be the “winner” when you know full well you’d get your kitten kicked in Tier 1

I’m guessing they are not done with the adjustments, so they are adding the mobility to make up for the adjustments to stealth that will be coming down the pipeline.

Four weeks of this though is getting kinda boring and predictable. So will this Friday be like the last three.

Where BG, possibly due to coverage isn’t really around at all and wins off the lead they build up over the week, but not so much that they get moved up, Where IoJ gathers up everyone and their brothers uncle’s cousin and swarms the map to get enough points to stay in the tier? probably yes.

I’m not sure how BG would fair in tier 1. They seem to be a pretty sound decent server, that’s comfortable winning tier 2 every week.

IoJ however if they moved to Tier 3 would be the BG of that tier and could do the exact same thing and win every week yet keep the score close so they don’t move up.

We just need to shake things up, thats probably why post are getting snippy, that or Anet needs to start basing the fights not only off points, but also off of coverage data as well. I know they have it.

I don’t how some of the commanders on SoR do it. I swear they must have caffeine drip IV’s. The only problem I see now is there are a bunch on newb commanders I have never seen before running around. Logging into the battleground and seeing 5 or so commander icons on could be confusing to people who don’t normally W3. Probably should cull some of them down.

I’m not against it, it has it’s place. I just see changes being made to it because it is the most used tactic in w3, on the higher tier servers. Just like they made changes to abilities (damage) in tpvp and added the code to pve to prevent farming. If it’s not in the spirit of how Anet thinks their game should be played, they will change it, simple as that.

Please drop a nuke on Orr.

Having played Online games since Ultima Online. Orr is one of the worst designed set of zones ever. The whole mess is not even in the ballpark of fun, Hell it’s not even in the parking lot, of the ballpark of fun, Just go to Frostgorge.

This right here is why it needs to be change-

“To remove portals or water them down so they can’t function in the way they currently are you are changing how 90% of how WvW currently rolls for the majority of servers.”

No ONE ability should make up 90% of the tactics in W3. I’m pretty sure Anet didn’t design all the other features in W3 just so they can be avoided by portals. There will be an adjustment to it, and those who don’t think so are just deluding themselves.

Alpaca is the bestest! I don’t get to get out there as much as I would like do to real life. but Saturday and Sunday mornings/afternoons are some awesome WvWvW times.

Try an Engineer and instead of thinking in a “Healing mode” think in a “Prevent/Remove damage and heal mode”. There are some really good build for this. I think it would give you what your looking for.

I have not had any technical problems with the game since launch until now. Ever since you introduced the Act 3 event I can not log on to any character in Lion’s Arch, the game crashes and gives me an error report that I have sent in numerous times now. It wants me to repair a file, I do that and it still crashes and give me the same error. This is the third time I have had to scan though 250K+ files and it’s still broke. There are four characters I can not access and I should not get stuck having to play a level 2 alt, for an error you introduced into the game.

Free Transfers have to stop now...

or severely limited so that a person/guild transferring can not participate in WvWvW until the next reset. We have had a great match ruined be guilds from higher tier servers bored of queue’s and lopsided victory transfer to our set of servers just for the specific sake of they were bored, they have thrown the match all out of whack, increased the queue times to 3+ hours, and hacked the orbs. This has to end before it completely kills WvWvW and ruin the communities we have tried so hard to build up.

Callipygous: oR here. I enjoyed trying to hold Pangloss against the waves and waves of YB until we couldn’t hold out any more. Honestly some of the most fun I’ve had in WvW period. I look forward to more, and I know we aren’t even close to out of the woods yet!

That was an awesome time, it was a murderhole there for awhile. But Yaks, kept coming in and in and in.

Then there’s the lovely new trend, where the server roflstomping the other two has some key guilds from their alliance pick one of the servers they are up against, has them transfer to it so they can take team up on the other server and insure that server of second place. 1) They get into the matches instead of sitting in queque. 2) They earn karma and influnce they can save up. ) They artifically inflate that servers score, so on the next round when they swap, that server gets stuck in a higher bracket but the people who put it their are long gone. This server then get stuck in a bracket it has no way it can be competative in and get roflstomped all over again.

They need to put a restriction on the server transfers that they can’t particpate in wvwvw for a 24 hour period, they also need to make the battles last 48-72 hours and not one week.
