Returning player, now a Rev main, looking for a guild that focuses on sPvP. English speaking only.

I am interested in some PvE and WvW, but mainly spend my time in sPvP although I wouldn’t mind doing Fractal runs.

Condi Rev sPvP

So I saw last week sometime a post that said condi was best build for DPS, so I came up with my own build and wanted input. I’ve been having a lot of fun with this and its gone well so far, but with ranked kicking off tomorrow…

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vlAQNApXmn3geNSuQvJRboHlsP0kS4I6SJ4EtrkFUlR9iOGxO92nPNgCSA-TphAQBd4IAAyDBwS2fgMlBAwJAgkPAAA

So, I feel like going with toughness over vitality is giving me better survivability without needing to constantly heal, and Mallyx has enough condi clear that I don’t have to worry about other condition builds. I also have the staff as my second weapon set in case I need more.

Most of the time I stay with glint, and with the undead rune, the extra toughness from upkeep plus the stacking might makes up for the lack of power in my build (at least in my opinion). Usually I top the match damage, and with toughness I can live outnumbered while trying to solo a point. And if I need extra DPS in a group fight I can swap Mallyx and pop my elite skill.

Thanks guys. I’ve got the cycling/clearing conditions down but it is the immobilize I’ve been having issues with. Especially facing rangers who seem to have an endless array of CC. I thought invoking a legend was the elite skill, didn’t realize I could legend swap (just returned to the game from a 2 year break).

I’ve been playing Condi Herald for sPvP and the only problem I run into is I have no break CC. In fact Shiro has the only break CC I know of. How does everyone else handle this?

The build I’m using:

P/P Scrapper, thoughts?

my thoughts on p/p scrapper are that you lock yourself into firearms by going condi and it messes up your survivability. but it’s still fun sometimes.

I’ve actually been doing ok. If I get cc’d I rocket boost out of danger. If I get outnumbered I stealth and get out of dodge. I’ve won almost all 1v1 fights (unless I’m against a condition clear build) and can usually hold a point against 2 or 3 long enough for help to get there. But looking for ways to improve.

Eh there’s just all kinds of flaws in that build IMO, the damage is totally kitten and seeing the rifle turret make me cringe.

I’ve generally use this in pvp: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vdAQJAqancTBtbhFpCGYBEqiF2iSsjqinA8DLxAgO4H+lH-TJhAQBSsMAAOBAc8BAQo9HAA

It’s not a full condi dps build but I find it a decent compromise. Skills will vary of course depending on what one face, this in particular is heavy on condi cleanse (without using the heal turret cause I hate it).

I’m sure someone else will post meta builds though. I cant be bothered with being that good on engie.

I’m with you, I’m not a fan of the meta builds and I usually do well. I’ve played since launch and avoided engi because I’m not a fan of the kits or turrets. I tried the scrapper builds but wasn’t a fan of the hammer, which is how I came up with the P/P. I’m still usually sitting towards the top but I keep modifying the build trying to get more dmg out of it.

I think I may settle with this. I liked the rifle turret due to the extra damage while I’m kiting, but it probably wasn’t the most effective choice.

I’ve been jumping between these two scrapper builds for sPvP and was wondering what everyone thought about them. Just recently picked up engi and wasn’t feeling the hammer, really enjoying the P/P with stacked condi. The vit build feels tougher but the toughness build kills quicker. I swapped out inventions for firearms at one point but it didn’t improve damage only lowered my survivability. Was wondering what some of you more experienced individuals thought.

"Abandoned PvP" without abandoning PvP

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

So this just happened for the 3rd time in the past week. I was queued for sPvP and I received an “Abandoned PvP” message without ever receiving a queue pop. This last time I did receive the pop, and selected confirm, but I still got hit with the abandon.

It hasn’t been too bad because my dishonor time hasn’t been increasing (so I’m assuming I’m getting the ban without it actually registering as an Abandon), but I remember in the past there being some long term bans after so many abandons and I’m hoping this gets fixed before that happens to me.

Rev DPS vs Survivalbility

I quit playing when HoTs was announced and just recently decided to return. Looking at the class description for Revenant I decided this is the class for me. I can’t figure out the build to use though. I don’t like the meta (mainly because a ranged 2h hammer doesnt appeal to me), so I modified it slightly.

I am using the Shiro/Glint build with sword/axe and sword/shield. Its working great as support, especially if I’m not being focused, but whenever I go 1v1 I can’t hit hard enough to win the fight and the thief can cut through me like butter. The more I go toughness/vitality the less damage I do and if I stack power, I go down like a cloth wearer. Is this really just a support class, or will it get easier the longer I play it?

I’m considering switching to Jalis instead of Shiro and trying to bunker, and I think the new elite spec will give some options adding a strong ranged dps. But as of now I can’t help feeling kitten.

Don’t pick necromancer nor revenant. Those are trash tier in every game mode.

I had seen that, why is Rev so bad? I’ve been enjoying it in PvE and it seems like it has potential, but when I did PvP with it I got owned. Figured it was just because I was new to the class. What makes Revenant so bad? And Necro used to be top tier what happened?

1. HoT and Season 3 mobs hit much harder than central Tyria. MUCH harder.
2. Breaking defiance bars is MUCH more important in HoT and Season 3 (and presumably PoF). Learn your CCs – both hard and soft. I can’t stress that enough, learn your CCs and only pop them with the break bar isn’t broken.
3. HoT maps are built around events leading up to a map meta event. Some of the “side” events are soloable, but the maps are built around groups doing the content. Many of the events, and especially the meta, are not soloable.
4. HoT Masteries: Many will probably disagree with me, but this is the order I would work on masteries. Unlock gliding 1 and 2 – gliding and updrafts, respectively. Then unlock Itzel Lore 1 – bouncing mushrooms. My priority after that would be working on Nuhoch Lore 1 and 2 to unlock Nuhoch Wallows. IMO, those are the priority masteries to work on.

Thanks! I went to the HoT area to get rolling on masteries and I was wondering how everything worked.

Thaddeus.4891 thanks. I prefer PvP, spent a lot of time there after 80. What are the best classes to pick? Im thinking about using my last slot/boost on a mesmer.

I bought the two expansions together, so should have access to all content JustTrogdor.7892 and Inculpatus cedo.9234. Thanks for the info, the world even looks different than it did last I played.

I decided with the PoF expansion to return to the game. I haven’t played in years and I am lost.

I have an 80 Ranger with 100% completion and some ascended gear, and I had enough tomes back in the day from PvP to get an Elementalist and a Guardian to 80. Now with the expansions a boost comes with each, so all 5 of my slots can be filled with 80s. And I did use one on a Revenant, because I think the class is awesome.

Now to the problem, I’ve scoured the forums, to try to figure out how to proceed from here and I am lost. I wanted to main the Revenant, but from what I can tell theyre pretty useless. I could go back to my Ranger, but not exactly sure where to start with him, or I could work on another class. What ever I do I want to start preparing for PoF. I can’t figure out how to unlock the glider, or how to unlock the specializations. There is so much information on the forums and YouTube, that Im left feeling lost, because I don’t know where to begin, especially since a lot of the information is a year old or older.

So as of now, is the Revenant still useless? And if I played a boosted toon, while I intend on 100% completion at some point, where should I start with unlocking the end game content (such as gliders, specializations, and ascended gear).

Ranger Aggro

Im only 43. And Im more concerned about pulling from warriors and guardians who are on top the mob. Ive been using my pet to add to my dps. Only whip out my bear when I keep getting beat on.

Right now my concentration is power and precision. Have 20 power and 14 precision. All my gear adds to those as well. At 1200+ atk and 38% crit chance. Dont know how that holds up at my level.

Wish someone had a definite answer on how the aggro worked.

I dont know how many of you have this problem, but Ill be the furthest person from the fighting, and mobs will go out of their way to take me out. Cant figure out how the aggro works. Read off site that proximity was the trigger, however this is apparently not the case. And even when Im not all out dps’ing I will pull aggro.

Far as the normal question:
Yes I am assisting and not attacking my own target.
