Who else isn't going to reaper?

The only reason I’m holding off fully investing into Reaper just yet is my fear that it won’t be needed or desired in raids. Judging from the game design presented in dungeons and fractals at the moment, I’m just a certain kind of paranoid we’ll be, once more, the definition of bottom tier for PvE.

Druid will probably join the Reaper club of ‘not really bad, but only worth it to fill the last 2-3 spaces of the raid group’ classes. Please, draw a number!

So whats everyones Reaper gonna look like?

Haven’t found a greatsword skin I really like, but the overall style of my necro will stay even as Reaper.

Reaper GS Animation

Where are people getting the .25 from is it from the individual chain skills ? AFAIK Necro GS chain is 1 secs slower than Guard/Warrior and 0.75 slower than a Ranger

I think it’s 0.25 sec per hit, that would fit with your information; the entire chain is 0.75 to 1 sec slower than all other chains atm. Sorry, might have been more clear about that.

Judging from the live stream, the auto attack chain of the GS will be slower than every other auto attack chain currently available (it’s only 0.25 sec difference, but still). That should give the attacks more weight, which is exactly what they want to achieve: slow but heavy hits.
Animation-wise, it’s likely that some of the shown animations are not yet final in appereance, so we can’t be too sure whether Necro gets it’s own GS animations, but personally, I think they’ll modify existing animations rather than coming up with entirely new ones, but that’s just my personal speculation.
I hope this helps.

Same here, getting the same exact error. I have no idea what’s wrong. About 8 hours ago it worked just fine.

Flame Blast with the Flamethrower

(One thing upfront: the last sentence makes you look like a kitten, either rephrase it into something nicer or just remove it, thanks.)

After trying out the flamethrower for some time, I found it pretty easy to hit the burst finisher on 2. What I do: lay the fire field, stand just in front of it and pressing 2 twice – vĂ³ila!

Granted, sometimes it just misses, but that’s mostly because of bad positioning in relation to the fire field. And I’m all up for ground targetting, would make the whole thing a lot smoother.

Lets see your engineers!

Mine is pretty … basic right now, just started to play him more recently and tried to go for a more gentleman-y look with suit and all.

On a side note: I haven’t looked through the whole thread, but has anyone succeeded with incorporating the gas mask skin into an outfit? My goal would be to go more steampunk-y, but I can’t seem to find skins that go along with it well. Any ideas?

you can run Strength runes because there is a rotation with engi to keep up 12 stacks of might for he party

Thanks for the quick answer!

I’m curious, since I’m new to the class: how to I keep 12 stacks might for the entire party? The strength runes are quite self-explanatory, but what skills/rotations would be needed to achieve that?

Title says it all, pretty much.

Before I invest deeply into either, I’d like to know which one works better. I’m fairly new to the class itself and can’t really say if the additional power of Zerker really is worth losing pure crit chance.

I mainly run dungeons, roam the open world and will, sooner or later, make my way into Fractals; just so you know what I’m up to. PvP and WvW can be ignored.

So, Zerker or Assassins? Maybe a mix?

Thanks in advance

New Feature: Jail and Trial

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

This might work in more sandbox-y games like Age of Wushu and ArcheAge, but in those games there are actual ‘crimes’ you can commit like PK, robbing caravans or stuff like that. It makes sense to use a Jail/Trial system there, because you can actually PROVE from the game logs that this or that really happened.

You propose that ‘being kicked without reason’ and ‘trolling’ could result in being sent to trial, but who exactly decides, for example, where the line between minor annoyance of another player and full-on trolling lies? Who decides that? You? Should ArenaNet hire people as ‘judges’? And when someone gets kicked from a group, there is ALWAYS a reason, maybe a stupid one or something you’d think wouldn’t require a kick, but still. Who decides when kicking is reasonable and not? You, again?

TL;DR: Deciding on very strict rules to follow migth work in sandbox games, where limiting the otherwise endless possibilities makes actual sense, but not in GW2, where interacting with each other is only possible in the most basic of ways.

Dungeoning 2.0

Gotta say, I quite like a lot of your ideas, especially the ‘explorable dungeon’ part. The way you described it is how I actually imagine the Underworld or Fissure of Woe could be implemented in GW2 (and we all know that this is needed).

The story dungeon part is … a neat idea, but, to be honest, not entirely in line with the way the current game is set up. There are several boss mechanics in dungeons, Fractals etc. that are not entirely self-explanatory the first time you encounter them and even with such mechanics, ArenaNet never bothers to explain and lets us find out how to deal with it. You could argue they are simply too lazy to add said explanations, but maybe, just maybe, they want us to THINK and not provide a clear-cut path for us to follow.

The boss instance part, on the other hand, could be very interesting, especially in line with the Living Story, which could use this kind of ‘boss-focused mini-dungeon’ as a storytelling device similar to the way the whole instancing made the story interesting in GW1.

Just my 2 cents.

Edit: while I was writing, you were, too, obviously xD

Journals: I really, really like this! Bestiary would be amazing and it could be used to make the whole world a whole lot deeper. The bard/storyteller twist is neat and can certainly used for more than to catch up on Living Story (hidden caves/treasures in the open world, maybe).

Elite missions: this sounds like the type of endgame a lot of people are wishing for and what Fractals wish it were capable of delivering. Sounds good. To be honest, if I designed that, I wouldn’t hand out tokens at the end. I’d make sure there were certain skins that only and exclusively DROPPED in that particular mission. Of course, ‘drop chance can be unfair, qq’, but honestly: if it is intended as the hardest and most complex part of PvE gameplay, players should be proud to get that certain piece of skin to show off.

- I have 3 Lv 80 characters: a Necromancer, an Engineer and a Ranger. All of which I consider now bad classes ONLY because I read it on the forums.
- Although I technically play since early access, I never owned more than 118g. Ever.
- Whenever I see people with skins that I know are 1k gold or more on the TP, I wish I could punch them in the stomach since the item worth the most money I’ve ever found was a vial of Abyss dye 8 months ago (23g or so at the time) and I don’t feel happy for their wealth
- I bought a second account because I despised the account name of my first account and the support wouldn’t help me change it
- Even though I play PvE exclusively, I neither have a single character with more than 75% map completion nor have I seen every dungeon from the inside
- When I finally decide to play a class as ‘main’, I go to the forums to read in the class forum just so long to not consider that class to be what I’m looking for
- Because I have neither the wits to play the TP nor the persistence to farm events/dungeons/whatever, most of my time spent is standing in Lion’s Arch thinking about how to earn gold without actually doing anything to earn it; after some time, I get frustrated and log off.

A little brainstorm, but it sums up my GW2 experience pretty good.
