ArenaNet already has issues implementing new armors, balancing the already existing classes and writing a coherent story. Can you imagine creating a completely new story arch, tie it with the existing content…. add new body sliders and adapt armors and create brand-new animations and emotes? Also, new actors. There’s already a ton of issues with the current ones due to the strike that’s been going on for a while now. Are you out of your mind? Most of the original developers have left the company or are focusing on different aspects of the game.
It’s really obvious that a new race isn’t going to be a thing.
Regardless of being “obvious”, players keep asking for new playable races, Arenanet can capitalize on this, as for the hurdles on the way, the problems are solvable, how can you possibly know if it’s worth or not introducing a new race? there are plenty of people that will try a new thing (that being a race).
All these issues you list makes it sound like the arenanet dev team area bunch of incompetent people that need special care while doing their work, sure there have been some questionable decisions in the past to say the least, but you make it sound like the introduction of a new race is an insurmountable task, I’ve played my share of mmos, and I don’t know 1 that didn’t introduce a new race, so why shouldn’t Gw2 have a new playable race?
Have another wants that are actually possible:
- People have been asking for the return of the old human females idles since their removal in 2014.
- People have been asking for the return of Season 1 since its debut in 2013.
- People have been asking for the datamined content, weapons and bundles that are yet to be implemented.
- People have been asking for the return of old flashes/effects that went through a nerf. Only a miniotiry of said effects have returned.
- People have been asking for a way to visit the old Lion’s Arch since its destruction. You can do so via the Personal Story, but it’s heavily limited.
- Unique HoT skins that were available during the BETA were “lost” and cannot be retrieved.
- Halloween and Wintersday events have been cut shorter for unknown reasons, making them less replayable.
- SAB returned years after being unreachable for uknown reasons.
- …Some other issues:
- Each new patch creates a series of new issues that are unrelated to the changes at hand.
- As previously mentioned, people who worked with the game before are no longer in the company, which makes things harder since the engine being used is a ehavily modified version of Guild Wars 1’s engine.
- Ree Soesbee is no longer part of the team.
- GW2 has suffered its worst income in years.ignoring its initial concept of “variety”.
- …
Everything you say is valid, although the the season 1 content I belive is understandable why it cannot be back, I’ve been there, and I have to say, there should be more content like that, in any event, everything you say doesn’t justify why there shouldn’t be a new race, so because people are asking about the datamined stuff there shouldn’t be a new race in gw2? I can see how it can be a problem the fact that many devs that worked on the game left, but that shouldn’t stop the game’s evolution, everything can be achieved through careful planning in the end

I think a new race would incentivize new and old players to play the game, as for the obstacles, many people say that, because of the personal story, new races are almost impossible to implement, because it has to fit the zhaitan story-line, I say, why? I don’t see why all the playable races have to be the hero of tyria, I would be more interested in playing a new personal story, it doesn’t have to follow the actual one, for example, a tengu story line could show what was going on with the world from their perspective during the war with zhaitan, or after…there’s a ton ideas that could make for a very interesting story line, and wouldn’t be hard to do.
I’m hoping it will appear on the store as well, but it’s not always the case, it seems not every seasonal outfit appears every year.
Nobody cares because as long as the event is completed there is always still time for the next World Boss. The tasks are boring anyways, so nobody wants to bother with those, and if the rewards are still garbage while the fights become "harder"good luck finding a group to do it, like Triple Trouble already is.
Are you kidding me? Well, good for you my friend, good that you have all the time in the world, it’s not like there are other people around that have other things to tend to, yeah its better this way, let’s have the fight as slow as possible because other people don’t feel like doing their job in the fight.
I had to abandon many events (which otherwise would have been over if everybody worked together), because I’m working on a schedule.
Just like the title suggests, I was thinking it would be a nice feature to have an option in game controls to bind a button/button combination to turn on/off the music in the game instantly, so you don’t have to go to the sound menu and edit the slider.
I find myself frequently turning the sound in the game on/off, depending on what I’m doing, i.e listening to my playlists, I’ll have to turn off the music from the game.
Cheers!
There is already a post about it here : https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Sylvari-Awakening-Story-Issue-merged/page/2#post5964954 , and the devs are currenty working on fixing it, as well as the other personal story bugs .
Check forum first before posting…
I hope I did not waste my item to hit to level 20 instantly for nothing on a Sylvari, I cannot get that back so easily. Been wanting to create a Sylvari along with my other races.
Don’t worry, they’re working on it, meanwhile, you can go about your business leveling up, and doing something else, other than personal story.
I’ve really enjoyed coming back to this game and had a lots of pleasant experiences to this point. I do find the last response from the GW team to be kind of rude. I think the phrase “freak out” is misused. I’ve been patiently checking this forum every day for almost a week now, as have quite a few people. Even the posts here are pretty calm considering how aggravating this problem is. What a great problem too – people are enjoying the story lines so much that not being able to move on through them is really annoying to them. Rather than belittle those who are playing your game, gracious appreciation and sincere apologies for the hold up would be a better move.
Snide comments like the above make me consider taking my time and my business elsewhere.
AMG he used the word “FREAKED OUT” ?! how could he?!…Christ, people these days, are getting offended by everything, its amazing really!
I too am having similar problems with the “Awekening” story part on sylvary, but I can wait, there’s no problem, I can play through the game, and come back to the story later, and it’s funny really because, a lot of people are “freaking out” over this issue, it’s funny to say the least.
You should try instead to learn programming languages, and try maintaining servers, and fixing bugs, see how easy that is, then go about commenting high and mighty.
Yeah, it’s the worst thing to see in a game, many people I know (as well as myself) were introduced very well into the game, and found no problem, but this is a problem that stop people from progressing early on, and it’s huge problem for Anet, new players, could very easily lose interest in the game.
Issue still persist, I’m finding some people have similar bugs with other stories as well..so I’m guessing Anet is working on more than a couple bugs in this category, and will probabily launch a patch including fixes on other bugs as well, aside the one at hand here.
Pro tip: get some princess doll tonics and jump as a princess doll. They’re cheap and they’ll make your life a lot easier. In fact, there are a number of cheap humanoid tonics you could use.
I’ll follow this advice, though it’s not really fair, every puzzle should be made and/or enjoyed (not in this case) with every race…everyone should be treated equally….
This is how an average try looks:

So today I tried to complete the “Not so secret” jumping puzzle, and the best way to sum up my experience is, it was not fun in at all.
I’m not sure if it’s because my character is a Charr, but none of the other jumping puzzles I completed are like this one, and I had fun with the other puzzles, most of them have a beautiful view as well, and it gives a rewarding feel after being completed.
But then comes this jumping mess, inside a dark cave, where I’m expected to jump on beams smaller than my character’s feet, as well as have to land on the empty space betwen the character’s feet, its ridiculous!
I’ve almost made it to the top once, but made a stupid mistake and fell…all the way down.
It’s amazing because, this puzzle managed to kitten me off, and I got to the point where I was just trying and trying to make it up, while being angry, stopped having fun, but eventually quit it, because it is insane.
It wouldn’t be so hard, if not for the early jumps the character has to make, that part being, having to hop across some very small platforms below the ship, the annoying part here are 2 npc’s that spawn down on the ground, and they will hit you, which will make you enter combat, then you can very easily screw your next jumps if you are not very careful, best solution is to kill those npcs via ranged means, even so they regenerate health, so you have to burst them down, and it’s ridiculous, why the hell would they even bother you, if they can’t stay in combat, but YOU DO STAY STUCK in combat it makes NO sense! you can choose to ignore them, but at the end of the hoping platform, you must make a LONG jump which is extremly hard to do if you are in combat, after you make that jump, the next jump is the most ridiculous jumps of all, you need to get from this small beam, on an even smaller beam, which is at AN ANGLE, and that jump, is very easy to screw up, and if you fail it, there’s also a good chance you’re going to end up on the bottom of the pit, conveniently placed , and before you can start jumping again, you will have to get out of the pit first, its a FREKING MESS, I can’t understand what the devs were thinking when they designed this, it’s just torture, and the player pushes himself to finish it, it’s no fun at all.
I’m only writing this in hopes that, someone would see this and think “You know, maybe it’s a good idea to bring down a couple notches the ridiculous factor in this puzzle”.
Aside than that, the camera angles won’t help you much, it’s not that hard, but it’s something you will have to get used to, you have to be really careful with how you position your camera so as not to fail, the early jump as well (the one where you have to walk on a huge pipe, get up on a rock, and then jump on a series of little beams), yeah that one is annoying too, but you will get used to it after a couple of tries, the hardest parts are farther, and are also the most annoying, because you don’t get a 2nd chance to immidately have another try at them, nooo, first you have to re-do all the kitten jumps, and it is just not fun.
