I really miss the hard mode from GW1.
Think about it: a “normal” mode, without the time limit, basically doable with good strategy and coordination and almost every build.
A “hard” mode, like the one we have now or even harder.
Different difficulty, different reward.
I , the non skilled player, can enjoy the game entirely (I’ve payed money forplaying, exactly like the “meta” player), others who seek for challenge are happy as well.
Where is the problem in this solution?
Well, that’s a very interesting build, it seems to allow you to give good support without totally give up your damage. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks a lot.
Druid was not compulsory, I just tried to fit it in a non healing centered build.
Even after all this time, I still have to learn a lot about ranger…. thanks again.
I didn’t come to a good build yet, an idea could be the following one
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vNAQNBhYD5keVoiFsmVgrFssHYwv18afd52FAGdPPvjwTD-TBRPwAfU+BQ9ng6GcpEEA-e
What I’m searching for is a good power (or better condition damage, but I couldn’t find a good setup) while being more resilient to damage, some condition removal and good speed for exploring.
Hello everybody,
after 3 years of Yolo-build-go-zerk-or-fail, I’m having a lot of problems in new maps.
That could be due to my lack of skills in this game, but I have the feeling that something has changed for good.
Actually, I’m happy to be “forced” to change build and playstyle, so the question is:
what is the build you’re currently using in new maps?
“Still zerk, i’m pro” is an option not suitable for me, I’m not good enough.
Any idea you mind to share?
PS: sorry for my English, not native language.
It’s a game, just a game.
If you enjoy this class, keep playing it.
If you can’t stand human stupidity, please reconsider playing a mmorpg.
Sad story, but true.
Sword+torch & Longbow?
I like the idea..
See? It’s just a matter of taste.
First lesson learned: never trust someone’s review on Youtube, like he/she is the holder of the truth. Make your own decisions.
Second lesson learned: never trust the hype of the merchandise.
You feel like you wasted your money, but there’s no other way to understand if a product is good or not for you but trying it.

It was almost 3 months ago, Dave Mark couldn’t stand to wait any longer in order to show us his work.
I hope he’s fine, 3 months holding his breath…. must have been a hard time.
We don’t forget…..
Without any hard feeling, in my opinion answering that you’re “discussing” on the matter after 2 year it’s not enough to keep a customer attached to your product.
For the sake of being naive, I bought the game following the promise of “play the way you want”. As a basic fact, I can’t without being totally “invisible” to the game mechanics.
Being more realistic, Arenanet showed me the lack of ability in problem solving.
This, with some other reasons, made me quit playing. Who cares? No one, but it’s 100% sure I, as a customer, won’t spend any single cent on the game in the future.
And I bet I’m not alone in this.
All of you keep talking about Arenanet as it was the same company that made Guildwars.
They are not.
The new Arenanet shares with the original Arenanet the name only.
Nothing else.
No reason to discuss as if Guildwars2 was the sequel of Guildwars.
It’s not.
So the older ones are right when they say that the new generations are made of totally dumb and incompetent people.
I wonder what a 20yo boy would do playing “Zak_McKracken_and_the_Alien_Mindbenders”?
Would he suicide?
Is he generally even able to READ?
The reason behind this update are…sad, I don’t even know what’s the right term.
“Ok, I’m going to explain you this as you were a 3yo kid ok? Slowly, everything is going to be ok….”
Good evening,
sorry for my english, but it’s not my native language.
I’m experiencing a big problem with the game: anytime I go to a city or find myself in a crowded map (such as in the middle of an event or similar), my game crashes.
It’s not a recent problem, but lately it began to be awful.
I’ll paste the message from the error window, hoping it could help

I’ve updated both directx and video card driver (or at least, I think I’ve done), I have ran the repair client several times, but nothing worked.
The only way i can play without any crashes is selecting the “best performance” option, but honestly I don’t think is a good solution.
I’ll attach my dxdiag report, as you can see my system should be enough to play GW2 at its maximum (I don’t have any problem with other mmorpg or single player games).
Thank you for your attention.

I play ranger in fractals, with my guild only (if you want numbers, up to level 38, which is not that low in my opinion)
.
One of the two:
1 – they are extremely kind and carry an useless player playing an useless class without complaining too much.
2- Once all players in group knows how to play, it makes a little difference which class you play (no, I’m not saying 5 rangers is a good and balanced group composition).
Is really that hard to think a bit out of the box in this game?
First of all, sorry for my english.
As a customer, I’m really disappointed by this last patch or maybe I was so stupid hoping too much.
I started thinking the developers are aware that this class has problems in its design but have no idea how to solve them.
My question is simple:
Scenario – WvWvW
Class: ranger
Type of build: Power-toughness-vitality (no condition, I want good sustained damage and defense)
Are ranger developer able to create a viable build? Could you plase show us what would an Anet ranger expert create?
I bought this game not to be “forced” to play certain class (bad old trinity) and because I believed you when you said every class will have same opportunities.
Show me I’m wrong thinking you didn’t manage to do it.
Personal opinion, the lack of holy trinity is not the problem.
i played standard MMO and, again personally, I hated it.
The main problem is that the PvE contents are not challenging, the dynamics of bosses/dungeons/boss events are flat.
All you have to do is going berserker, dodge when there’s no other alternative and… well, nothing else.
I have berserker guardian, berserker war, berserker ranger… why should I go for something different and do the same thing I would do as berserker but slowly?
i’d love to play a condition damage build in PvE or a pure ranged one, just for example… but why should I (ok, no one is forcing me, I could do what i want… but seriously…. why should I?)
First of all thanks for sharing this idea.
I’m use a full cleric guardian in PvE, even if I know it’s not the most efficient thing to do, I don’t care too much because I like to play this way.
I have a simple question: maybe i misunderstood something, but how does your build counter conditions (I see you don’t use Pure of Voice and/or soldier runes)?.
Honestly, I can’t think of any support build without a strong conditions removal, so Pure of voice is a must for me.

Hello Christos, thanks for this post, very usefull.
I lately switched from a full berserker build to a full cleric one, just for the taste of being an old “D&D cleric” like, and I like it.
I have a question: I would like to use mace/shield as main weapon, and I’d like to take Honorable shield trait, lowering the honor line by 10.
Do you think that the loss of Healing Power (and Pure of voice trait) is too much?
I didn’t test it yet, but I’d like to have your impressions.
Thanks
Question: today we tried HoTW and while fighting Aldus Stormbringer adds kept spawning and disappearing after some time, making the fight a complete nightmare. Is it working as intended?
Is it a bug no one care of or it is commonly seen as a fun fight?
Thanks
First of all thanks for this great guide, very helpfull.
I have a simple question: talking about dungeons, I usually play with the same group of friends in which I am the only melee.
My impression, but it might be just lack of my skills, is that AH isn’t that helpfull because of the fact my teammates are usually as far as possible from mob, so they don’t take all the boons I spread out.
Am I wrong? Should I go for another setup in order to gain some healing (meditations?)? Thanks.
Hello everyone,
I would like to read your opinion about a doubt I have.
I know warrior is designed as a very aggressive class, but I’m stupid enough to want playing it in a defensive way.
And no, I don’t want to play Guardian, I’m old enough to prefer my ludic ideas to the most efficient choice in the game.
I like the idea of a hard soldier in the middle of the fray, call it stupidity, RP or whatever you want.
I know my DPS will drop drastically, but maybe not that much, I know there’s no tank in this game and I don’t want to play one, but more than being the uberpowa dpser I’d like to be the “wall” which tries to slow down the enemies aiming for the backline.
I have very limited experience in dungeons, so I’m asking if someone has experienced something like this and if you think it’s viable: I mean, what’s the use of a defensive warrior with heavy CC abilities if the mobs are immune later on in game?
Thanks and sorry for my english, not native speaker.
P.S.: while I was writing I realized how much vague is this post, sorry for that, but I really can’t express myself better….
