No raid chest.

Thanks for all the responses everyone. Paul, I definitely dropped multiple meteor showers on his face. I did get the little side chests on the side screen that jiggled but I didnt get the big boss chest. I dont see it at all. Which is weird because when I go back to Spirit Vale I can see the huge chest where I killed VG. Honestly Im not so upset about the loot as I am the legendary insight. I took a long haitus from the game so I’m trying to catch up on collecting legendary insights in order to prove to groups I am capable. I can usually only get into VG/Seige until I find a training guild so every insight becomes precious. Thanks again for responding everyone. Like I said I took a long haitus so I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing some critical piece of information.

Hey so I just completed encounter 1 wing 3 (Mcleod/Escort) and got no chest. Is there any reason for this occuring or is it a known bug? Anyone know of a way to get this remedied? This was my very first time doing it. Yes I have tried leaving and re-entering the instance. I thought i might be hidden somewhere but I looked up videos and it should be right there where I kill the boss.

please dont lock raids behind masteries

Before you complain please consider how much better raid will/could be because of masteries. Eg. Updrafts escape from trailer, speed mushrooms to help with vale Guardian. I also predict adrenal mushrooms or nuhoch alchemy for one of the bosses. I actually suspect there will be alot of adrenal mushrooms. Masteries can effectively double raid mechanic. It is also a supplement for people without ascended gear. I would much rather take someone into my group who has adrenal mastery than ascended armour.

Even so, this should be fixed. Finding out AFTER using the recipe that you need weaponsmithing 500 is not pleasant. For some of us it adds alot more money to the process. I’m not demanding that all crafts be able to forge legendary swords; however, it should not let you consume the recipe on a craft that cannot make the components and can’t buy the components. No one likes this experience: good job on unlocking recipe use it for any craft, use, oh you need weaponsmithing for parts haha, oh you can’t buy them haha, you have to dump 50-100g levelling another craft haha, then you have to re-buy the recipe you wasted. It’s an easy fix, whether they decide to let all crafts make it, make the components tradeable, or make the recipe consumble by only the appropriate crafts. I don’t care which solution.

Wow this sucks. Anet please respond. Maybe you can buy the parts on tp? What kind of haft is it? Ancient wood or spiritwood?

Adventures too hard?

Honestly. I think most people should be able to get bronze on the first three tries. Silver within 15 attempts. As for gold. I think gold should be hard. I think only people how commit to at least an hour on the same adventure deserve gold. I would be upset if gold was easy. I want gold to be unattainable for some people. Then top leaderboards can be the gold of the golden. Just my opinion.

Expansion too reliant on strangers

You’re seeing this the wrong way. My experience: show up to a hero point. Advertise in map chat or wait for someone. Chat with whoever shows up. Do a few more challenges. Add each other to friends list. HoT pushes you to turn strangers into friends or even just fun social encounters.

HoT is not soloable

Solo’d all the story with a zerker ele. Super easy to find groups for champ hero points. They already nerfed half the hero points to communes and veterans. It sucks to see very interesting fights get completly abolished because someone can’t read the text under the enemies health bar.

Precursor Crafting Overpriced?

Just for the record can someone officially list the material requirements for all 3 tiers of precursor crafting with the corresponding current gold values. Just so we all have the pertinent information accessible for this discussion. Thanks.

Has HoT lost the scale of the elder dragons?

SPOILERS

I have mixed feelings. I thought it was high quality but not long/expansive enough. Like you said, Mordi doesn’t have the same threatening scope as Zhaitan unless you combine hot with season 2. That being said I think the final fight was good. If you want epicness do the Mouth of Mordremoth fight meta. I like the idea of the Pact remnants fighting the shadow of the dragon while the hero character confronts him in the dream. I do sympathise of Arenanet. People expect to solo a elder dragon which is practically the size of divinities reach. This isn’t Bayonetta.
I will say that the the story felt stripped. The whole thing is us pursuing destinies edge. And oh what a coincidence mordy is here. The realisation of his weakness was really shoe-horned in and didn’t feel like a revelation. Whereas the core game story was perhaps too drawn out. HOT was too narrow. Where are the itzel and nuhoch allies? What are the reavers doing? What is going on back in the core cities? Oh hey exalted im just going to drop this egg off, bye, see you never again. The only time we ever communicate with these people is to ask them where destinies edge is. Whereas the Zhaitan story seemed to take place over like a year of organization. The HoT story actually seemed as if it all took place over 2 days. It felt like we were alone in the jungle finding some buds. I understand that the Pact is broken but who is fighting the front while we search. Rytlock never actually explains his powers, just keeps putting it off. Canach is awesome. Braham got some solid screen time. Taimi was well done. Everyone else barely gets any say. They barely felt present. I really feel like we were more told to accept sylvari corruption sylvari than showed. We get one scene showing transformation and even that was based on a chooseable story path. I mean what the hell is going in the Grove during this?! It felt more like i was a hero looking for his lost friends than a commander salvaging the remains of an army. Honestly, after the fleet crash finding destinies edge should not be the priority. Overall i still liked it. It just felt short and sweet rather than elaborate and juicy. Oh and the fights were awesome IMO. and despite what people say totally soloable. I did it with a zerker ele.

How would you rate the HoT Fun Factor?

9/10
The story is amazing. And soloable! I was mad when Zhaitan required a party. The final HoT fight is challenging but doable. I did it in a glass canon zerker ele.
Masteries and Elite specs feel rewarding because you have to work for them. I enjoy the progression.
Events and maps are outstanding. You actually have to learn the map through experience rather than press m.
As for the hero point contention, I would have been upset if everyone had their specs as soon as logged in. Would have made it cheaper than a blind hooker. I enjoy working with others to figure out fight mechanics.
Above all, the game makes me communicate with other people with new and challenging content. I love it. I have had so many positive experiences and made so many friends. People are being forced not to faceroll and how to dodge. It’s so great.
****EVENT SPOILERS****
A good example of all this is the Mouth of Mordremoth fight. First off, it takes communication between three lanes to succeed. The triple tower bosses require split pod groups. Then you go up. Let’s put aside the breath-taking epicness. Again this fight requires split platform organization. The updrafts make you feel like a kitten and put your hard work to work. Come back with ley line gliding and be even more awesome and efficient!

And yes this event can be PUGGED. Shoutout to my map group. Platform 6 ftw.

I do not mean to invalidate others opinions. I hope the lovers keep playing. The genuine feedback gets remedied. And the haters stop complaining in map chat.

Thanks! See you all in the jungle.

For a bunch of people that hate interacting with people in game you sure spend alot of time complaining with people on the forums.

Anet,

It has been a bumpy ride since the HoT reveal. From outrages to exultation you’ve pushed through to the moment of truth. Before that moment, I just want to say thank you. Thank you for all your hard work and care. Whether the price of the expansion or the number of hero points, these forums have been filled to the brim with alot of not-so-constructive ‘feedback’. To those who provide genuine feedback, thank you for contributing to the quality of GW2. I just thought I would post this so I could thank Anet. It’s never easy putting out a product before the ruthless internet.
I invite all members of community and forum-readers to post their appreciation and gratitude here as well. Maybe even tell us what feature you are most impressed with or excited for. I’m sure you know that the forums represent the critical and vocal minority of players, but here is a thread for you to see all the positive and supportive forum-posters. In the immortal words of Taylor Swift—-whether you consider the song a scar or a blessing—-: “…players gonna play…haters gonna hate”. For every 1 venomous thread, there are 10 people too absorbed in the game to be on the forums. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Just another player,

Simpler Form for Testing

Thank you for making this thread. My feedback for Anet
Specializations
-Daredevil. Does not feel very unique; however, because of that will mesh well with other thief set-ups. Only specialization that did not change the wayI play profession.
-Revenant. I think it would be better without weapon swap. Being able to swap both sides of the bar is a bit much IMO. Otherwise its great.
-Druid. Unique but exclusive. Cele form is cool; however, I would rather see some of the healing skills replaced for some interesting utility based skills. The wall that coverts dmg to healing should be 1:1.
Scrapper. Couldn’t figure out the gyro that rezs and stomps. hammer felt weak. Felt a little redundant to have a reflect and block on hammer. Gyros felt week and only efficient in very unique situations. Too little health for gyros means little to no use vs bosses with AoE.
Dragon Hunter: fine.
Beserker: really great. Maybe increase the range of some of the rage skills.
Reaper: great. GS #5 often does not work. Not too different from original warrior gameplay but the subtle changes are very enjoyable. Feels much stronger than regular warrior.
Tempest: should be able to use all shouts (and other instants) during overload.
Chronomancer: no complaints.

Creatures:
Fantastic. Nailed it. Great animations, abilities, and aesthetic. I really enjoy the concept of the break bar but make it neccessary. More often than not you could dps without concern for the break bar. When there was a break bar, more foten than not you only had to break it once. The best fights wyvern/axemaster consistently used the breakbar mechanic. My recomendation: give mobs more hp, make the break bars easier to break but neccessary to break. Tetrad fight felt a little small and congested when you have a bunch of people on the platform. But was awesome. Can’t comments on raids but from the streams ive watched you nailed it. I’m not a huge fan of the enrage mechanic because I worry about people in exotics not being able to avoid the enraged timer. Please give incentives for these awesome champs.

Mastery System
…….gliders and mushrooms were cool but……that was it. All the communine points were bugged. Very upseting. So i cant comment on progression. Please do not make this too easy and make the later abilities/masteries feel as rewarding as mushrooms and gliding do. really do enjoy the concept and could chase masteries for a long time.
Stronghold PvP
—still enjoy it. Make archers more potent.
Feedback on the new UI
lol

I know you said not to worry about the map rewards…but
Scale the difficulty proportionate to the reward. Ex. defending an Orr temple is worth more than one t6 mat. Give us a chest rather than sneaking it into our inventory. More UI so we can search easily for materials throughout tyria map.

Thank you all.
