question on dat file for invite a friend weekend
in Account & Technical Support

If your geographic location in relation to the person you want to invite allows it, you can transfer your game folder to him on an external harddisk or usb thingy before the trial weekend. That way he will be more or less ready and would only need to:
1. download and run the installer when it’s available to your friend on the official site (or just download it yourself and send it to him).
2. when the game launcher is installed and starts to download the big chunk of data, he can close the launcher and replace what he has in his freshly created game folder with the content of your usb device.
3. start the game launcher again and let it patch up the difference between the time you copied your dat file and the current version.
The steps are probably not 100% necessary (he could just copy your game folder to his computer and run the exe), but doing the 3 steps simulate the actual installation, including any values written to the Windows registry etc.
But otherwise, of course it would be a good idea if the client download was accessible in good time before the trial weekend. 17 GB is a lot, even on connections with bigger bandwith.

That is no pig
Its a space station…..
Impossible, it’s way too small to be a space station. It’s a moon!
moirweyn, read some posts about this.
There are people who are frustrated, and annoyed by it, but there are some people who are afraid of it.
From reading Orr related posts, it is my clear impression that most complaints about Orr is about the zones being annoying and not enjoyable.
I don’t know where you have the “afraid” part from or why you make a topic out of it.
Personally, I’m not going back there for all the whiskey in Ireland, and since it’s more or less the only level 80 pve part of the game, it will in the end shorten my time with Guild Wars 2 considerably which is a shame as I’ve been enjoying it greatly since I got it. It’s just too frustrating, and one of the reason why I personally like this game is for its casual easy going.
Were you emotionally attached to those 8 files?
What difference does it make if it’s 1 file or 100 – all you have to do is wait for some seconds for the download to complete.
I see on your screenshot that you are using “interface size” = “small”.
Try reverting it to the default setting, restart the game and see if it helped.
If not, you can always change it back to “small” again.
I give only lame names to my pets:
My brown bear is called Unbearable
My pig’s name is Panzerspeck
And you really don’t want to know what I call my shark.
if you get scammed in trade it’s because you were stupid. just saying…
Ending your brilliant contribution with “just saying” does not make you look very cool either.
I agree completely that turning character while you rotate camera with right mouse button would be nice.
However, I can imagine it’s not “easy” to implement if they would want to do it right, as it would involve change of character animation. The character would have to move the feet while turning (stepping in place), or else it would look rather lame.
As for faster strafing – personally, no thanks. The image of teen thieves (thiefs?) circling around me even faster and “lolling” even louder is not a nice thought.

Small suggestion, easy to implement:
When browsing a thread, you have these navigation links at the top of the browser page:
“Guild Wars 2” > “Forums” > “Forum and Website Bugs” > “Topic”
Using this structured links, you can click on one of the levels between the “>”, and jump directly to that level.
I would very much like to see that navigation structure at the bottom of the page as well, so we have it both at top and and the bottom.
I’m mostly reading the forums on my ipad, and this change would make tablet browsing much more efficient.
Thanks for reading!

I agree with the thing about the medium armor sets. They are not ugly, and I know there some even more nicely looking end-game templates, but when levelling a medium armor wearer, you are doomed to 80 levels of trenchcoats.
Some variation of levelling medium armor would be great.
Yay for the search function!
I was about to post about exactly the same issue, but then searched for “icon” and found your post.
I definetely agree.
Clicking on the red ArenaNet icon/bubble next to a thread should move you directly to the Anet response in that thread.
Personally, I don’t miss the flapping sound of a thousand dragon wings all over Stormwind, nor do I miss having my toon being eclipsed by someone’s ridiculous Cadillac Deville while trying to browse the galaxy trade network on the Republic Fleet.
I don’t miss those things at all.
In stead of mounts, I would rather see cost reduction in using the waypoints. Or no cost at all.
And if they do implement mounts at some point, I hope the mount frame will be the same or less then the player frame, so we won’t see the vendors completely covered in mounts.
How about an epic pogo stick!
Now go ahead and call me a grumpy old man, actually I’ll take it as a compliment.
