Late reply, but one small problem with this statement – Amazon doesn’t hold money for preorders, they don’t charge (or even authorize) until they ship.

Because the Mesmer doesn’t use the greatsword as a weapon, they use it as a FOCUS. The Ele doesn’t use their daggers as weapons, they’re used as foci. The Necro doesn’t use the axe as a weapon, they use it as a focus.

Mesmers are also portrayed in the game as blade duelists, so the GS and 1hS both fit that concept.

Thieves use weapons as weapons, not as magical foci, because they’re not a scholar profession. Big difference here.

Also, at level 23 there’s no reason at all for you to be running around in level 15 gear. You should easily be able to buy a full set of level 20 greens from the TP for dirt cheap; even the gear you get from personal story or event karma should keep you more updated than that if you for some reason have zero money to spend.
