We have found an issue with how these achievements are being awarded to players. We are working on the fix and should have it available soon. The way mentioned above has a chance of working, but clearly this is not how its intended to be and fix will be made.

An issue was recently discovered with Burning Oil Mastery that needs immediate attention. While we work on the issue the Burning Oil Mastery line has been temporarily disabled. Players that have spent points in this line will see they have the abilities purchased, but the abilities will not be enabled. Players who have not purchased Burning Oil Mastery will not be able to spend points in this line at this time.“
The Black Lion Trader looks like he is having some issues spawning, rest assured they have not been removed. We will have the ones that are not spawning back to selling goods shortly.
Not a single built oil over a gate can be used. You cannot interact with any of them at all.
I have two accounts and witnessed this on both servers since the patch.

El Capitán had a very large part in fixing culling. He often enters the room with Flash Gordon’s theme song playing.
I need 1 more rank to have enough points for increased balista range and i was wondering if anyone has it or knows how much extra range it actually gives. Im trying to decide between range increase or a second supply increase and how much the balista range increase is will decide it for me
It will increase your range from 3,000 to 3,500.
Do Experience Boosters work with WXP?
And if not, will WXP Boosters be introduced at some point?
No and yes.
Experience Boosts will not increase your World XP rewards and we do have intentions to add a World Experience Boost in the future.
If I hit a guy with an upgraded cannon, does it remove his boon before applying the damage?
The cannon will apply the damage, then strip a boon.
Q: Sometimes I kill players and do not receive any World XP. Are players worth experience every time I kill them?
A: No. Players recently killed are worth nothing and will take time to build up to the maximum amount of World XP.
Q: Do multiple levels of 1 ability stack together?
A: The only 2 lines that persist are the Cannon Mastery and Ballista Mastery lines. This means that if you purchase 3 levels of Cannon Mastery you will strip a boon from players, increase your damage, and apply more bleed stacks.
The other 6 lines replace their previous versions. If you purchase 3 levels of Siege Might you will have a total of 3% increased siege damage, not 6%. We are looking into the messaging of these two types and will improve it in future builds.
Q: Do Objective Leaders or lords count towards the Guard Killer or Defense Against Guards abilities?
A: No.
Q: Will there be more WvW abilities in the future?
A: Yes! Not only do we want to release new types of abilities, but we want to grow some of the current ability lines as well. This is the beginning of a very expandable
system.
Q: Does Siege Might stack with the damage boosts in the cannon and ballista mastery lines?
A: Yes.
Q: Does Supply Capacity stack with my additional supply buff for claiming a camp for my guild?
A: Yes. Players that have maxed Supply Capacity ability can potentially hold up to 20 supply.
Q: Does Siegerazer give me more than 10 supply if I have Supply Capacity unlocked?
A: Siegerazer gives players 100% of your maximum supply.
Q: Does the cannon upgrade “Basic Fire Removes Boons” apply damage before it removes an enemies boon?
A: Yes. The cannon will apply the damage, then strip a boon.

The tool tip for the second tier of the Cannon Mastery and Ballista Mastery abilities shows the wrong percent increase. The tool tip for both of these should say that it increases damage by 25%

In order to solve a crash issue with WvW we have disabled it temporarily. We are working on the fix and hope to have you back on the field in no time!
We will have much more info on World Ranks very soon! In the mean time:
1. Everyone that helped with the kill will get full credit for the kill.
2. NPC’s are not worth World Experience

A lot of bundle items have been turned off while within WvW since launch. If you think you’ve found a bundle item that should be added to that list feel free to post it in this thread, send me a PM, or send in a bug and someone from the team will look into it.
Gears, Skale Venom and Spikeroot Fruit have been removed, but you wont see the changes until the next build.
There are a few different knobs we can turn in regards to AoE some of the bigger ones being:
Radius of the AoE
Frequency of the AoE Damage
Damage of the AoE
Max Targets of the AoE
Currently, some players causing the AoE are able to do more damage to one person while also controlling a portion of the field, compared to a player with single target damage.
In our balance discussions we always look at what these changes could do to PvE as well as PvP. Any changes we make will undergo a lot of testing, both internal and by our trusted alpha team. It is important to understand that we are not doing a blanket nerf to all AE’s or a dramatic adjustment of the damage AoE’s can do. There may be some cases where players can build for AoE damage, but are just not viable or other cases where AoE is clearly the dominate way to build, and as such the other builds get left on the side lines. Its these classes/builds that we are concerned about.
Waypoints are currently the most powerful upgrade in the game but there are a few issues.
They are only inactive when the defense quest is active, are you guys planning on disabling them slightly longer than the defense quest to allow attackers to keep the defenders from spawning there just as the defense quest lapses?
For example under the current system I can count down on voip the defense quest and spawn in everyone right as it hits zero and before attackers can reflag the keep.
This is definitely a bug. I’ll see about leaving the rally points disabled for a few extra seconds after the event has completed. That way it just stays disabled if the event starts back up.

This is something that we would like to adjust, but doing so could remove one of the larger advantages of having the waypoint upgrade. With my mentioned adjustment it would also mean that one player would be able to lock down a location indefinitely. Changes to how this system works will need to be thoroughly designed and tested and as such will require time. I would not expect to see changes to how this works soon.

Are projectile destroying skills actually intended to destroy siege projectiles? Or is this a case of creative use of game mechanics you guys didn’t quite expect.
Also what has been the most surprising placement you’ve seen for a treb that actually worked?
This is intended! We actually had issues in early testing because players were able to reflect trebuchet shots. The oddest place i’ve seen siege is probably on top of the ruins by the underground entrance to blue’s keep.
Maybe a dev could answer this… I always wondered if there are plans for WvW ever getting some big events like in PVE. Dragon-sized stuff like one taking over Stonemist… could that ever happen?
There are no plans currently. However, this is something that is not off the table for the future and is often day dreamed about. I’m sure everyone would love to see a large size event start and destroy something. as long as they didn’t own it.
The question we ask when building content is “can this be fun for all three teams involved?” This question is a large part of the design process, and often leads to changes or cancellation of content.
Has there ever been an official reason given for why enemies appear as ‘Server-name Invader’? Does this reflect a deliberate gameplay design decision, or a technical constraint?
Some of the reasons behind enemies appearing as ‘Server-name Invader’ where to avoid harassment issues, let other servers identify what server you are from, and to help establish server rivalry. The way your server name reads is something we would love to adjust, and I am hopeful that we will!
Player placed siege weapons have a 30 minute timer that remove the siege from the game, when the timer expires. Players using the siege causes the timer to restart.
We are currently looking into this issue as one of our higher bug priorities. We want to thank everyone who posted and helped with the investigation of this issue. First off, good luck to everyone on the new matches, and congratulations to Kaineng on their first win!
Some have asked for an update regarding WvW, and what work is being done on it. As previously mentioned, our biggest goal currently is to find resolutions to the culling issues people are having and ensuring that everyone that wants to play WvW can play WvW, without having to wait in queue for a substantial amount of time. We have remained cautiously silent on what work is being done, as we do not want to say we are doing something, and for whatever reason have to cancel those plans.
Without saying too much, I can say we are making progress on culling. As some of you may have seen Habib has been working nonstop to ensure you have a great epic experience in WvW, while also giving you details on how some of the ‘behind the scenes’ systems work.
We are also looking at ways to better support players that are getting shut down on maps. Again this is something very new, so we are not able to say anything on how this will work. However, the goal is to make players able to leave the spawn areas with ease, as well as provide assistance on capturing objectives when you are being completely shut down on a map.
These are just a few things that we are actively pursuing. We are constantly reviewing the state of WvW. If you see a lack of developer presence on the forums, it is simply due to us working on making WvW an even better experience then it is now.
I’d like to know Anet’s stance on this. Been seeing a lot of people logging out to avoid defeat/repair bill lately.
We do have a combat timer that prevents players from logging out or using a rally point. I’ll check into making sure this timer is getting applied to players in a down state as well.

We do have counter measures in place on our end, so player reports are not required in order to catch a cheater, they just make it that much easier. I’ll see what can be done about making it easier to report players that are difficult to target.
I don’t have a list in front of me of who or when, but we have banned many people that have been reported for flyhack/maphack. For security reasons, i’m not able to say how the process works.
If you see players using any sort of hack please report them. You can do this in WvW by targeting the player in question, right clicking and select report.

We’ve received lots of feedback regarding night capping. Many want to know how Arenanet views this. Our answer is that WvW was developed as a never ending continuous battle.
We feel that everyone should have the ability to contribute no matter what time of the day it is. How we’ve came to this conclusion is that no player’s time is more valuable than another. Everyone has different off peak hours for whatever reason. Players should not be punished or unable to experience and view the same content as everyone else because they play at a different time. They too are paying customers.
This is not saying that we are against any adjustment to scoring, or against developing another mechanic to improve the capping system. This is simply saying that we will not be changing WvW based on some players’ idea of off time hours.
Please use this thread as the main discussion for this topic.
Commanders can get their own chat channel (/squad) and are able to use it as an effective way to coordinate groups. No large party UI is used for this system. You can also mark the map with special beacons by holding down the ALT key while clicking anywhere on the map. This will bring a box up that allows for different beacons to be placed.
We’ve seen a lot of feedback regarding the commander system and what to add to it next, so keep the constructive feedback coming!

You should not be able to deploy siege in your start areas. I’ve found a few of these spots on center map and they are in the process of getting fixed. I’ll do a pass on the home worlds as well to see if any spots have been missed. Please feel free to submit a bug if you have found a spot to place siege while in your safety area.

I wanted to let those wondering know; we are racing to reduce the queue times. We are gathering as much data as we can on this situation and looking at multiple ways to get even more people into WvW. We are absolutely amazed at the amount of people wanting to get into WvW, and will do everything in our power to ensure that everyone that wants to play can play. While I’m not able to say exactly what our plans are at this time, many options are on the table and we are working quickly to get the most viable options into development.
