First off, your title is awful, have some respect for the people that dedicate their working lives to providing exceptional entertainment for you. And I KNOW you are entertained by GW2 because you made the effort to come here and post.

The two biggest frustrations I have with the original post:
a) it’s a complaint with no meaningful suggestion for improvement
b) completely isolated; you don’t consider anyone else’s perspective but your own.

I’d like to share my own experience. When I decided to start making my first legendary I was purely a PvE player, and I was frustrated about the prospect of having to dip my toes into WvW for the gift of exploration. However, I did understand it. The point of a legendary was to show you were a player who partook in many aspects of the game.

You know what I found? I found that one of the most exciting parts of the game was rushing into a zerg trying to get that WvW POI before the enemy team captured it. I started having a lot of fun! I’ll freely admit that I still mostly PvE, as it is my preference, but the inclusion of WvW as a mandatory experience for obtaining a legendary encouraged me to try something I wasn’t overly keen on and I discovered that I liked it. When I heard that requirement was gone from 100% map completion, I’m not going to lie, I was pretty disappointed.

Therefore, my suggestion for improvement is add WvW maps back into map completion! Force people to take that “No Thank You” bite (something we use with our kids to make sure they try different foods if offered). It took me a couple months given my smaller server and limited play time to finish my gift of exploration due to the WvW requirement, but it made my play time more enjoyable as it mixed things up. If you don’t like it, that’s fine, it’s not a huge commitment for you to get your skin, but you never know what you might enjoy. Or just don’t do it. There are a ton of skins that are awesome, maybe a legendary just isn’t for you.

I’m working on my 4th legendary at the moment, and I’m just crafting the Legend because RNG hates me and I’m still enjoying it. I’m not trying to rush it, I’m not concerned. Just take your time, and it will work out. Make it a long term goal; these things aren’t meant to be completed in two weeks. I’ve been at The Bifrost for about a month and I’m not even halfway there, but you know what? I’m enjoying the process as a side activity for my day.

In the end, I guess what I’m saying, is there there really isn’t a problem with the legendary acquisition system, if anything is wrong, it’s with your expectations. The PvPers and WvWers have the worst luck of it, as a PvE player, your path to a legendary is the most streamlined in what you want to do; therefore your biggest complaint seems to be the “Time to Shiny” and in that case, it’s a legendary, it’s meant to take time. Don’t worry so much about what you “hate” to do, give it a try, WITH AN OPEN MIND, and see if you do actually like it, that worked for me! Relax and enjoy the ride, keep having fun in Tyria and the Mists.

Make Dungeons Great Again

Pranker, you’re absolutely right with your correction. It’s coming from a perspective I had not considered hopping into dungeon running late and that is the burn out factor.

I’ve been trying to think of a way to spice up the dungeons to make them more appealing (I’ll spare the details of my thoughts because they are pretty awful), but short of adding paths all my solutions would essentially be forcing people to run something they have done to exhaustion which isn’t ideal. Considering the resources required to make new paths between level design, fight mechanics, story, it doesn’t seem beneficial to dedicate the limited assets in that manner with everything else that’s going on in the game.

I wish I could come up with something because the dungeons are amazing and the effort that must have gone into making them sustainable content for an extended period of time is evident. I guess the best bet is to open an LFG as a Shepard and see if anyone is interested while on.

Thanks for the reply though, it definitely got me thinking in a manner I wasn’t previously.

I would 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc this if I could. I LOVED running dungeons. I still love running them but its nearly impossible to find a PUG. My understanding is that they wanted to push people towards fractals. This is fine, I do the daily T4s and enjoy them quite a bit. However, its a variety thing from my side. They nerfed rewards so hard that people would rather run fractal 40 for three hours than do a dungeon tour throughout Tyria. I’d love to see it become a point where people can do their content of choice because the gold efficiency is similar.

Sadly, I doubt it will happen but wanted to share my opinion in the event this is read and considered by the devs.

Footfall to Wardrobe

I was looking through the forums and didn’t see this answered, I apologize if it’s a duplicate.

I was wondering if there’s any chance the footfall from unlock legendary weapons will become part of the wardrobe, or if this has been discussed? I’d gladly spend a transmute charge to have my confetti following me regardless of which weapon, legendary or otherwise, I’m wielding

Thanks!

Good morning,

I wanted to try this after numerous failed attempts to find a guild fit in game. My goal is to find a guild that is friendly and uses the chat feature. While I have a headset/mic and can easily use that, it can be disrupting to my family and I infrequently use TS, etc. I have tried several guilds however most of them have been relatively disorganized and with little sense of community, which seems counter productive to the point of being in a guild.

My typical play hours are 7-10:30 PM EST on weekdays, with some daytime hours randomly thrown in, and a good portion on and off during weekends. I do travel a decent amount for work, so there are weeks where I’ll be completely dark.

I am familiar with all dungeon paths, outside of Arah, which I’d really like to learn. I have completed Arah a number of times (primarily 2) and understand Lupi, etc. but as for the ins and outs of the paths, I’m a trainable novice.

I enjoy fractals quite a bit, but the PUGs I join tend to be hit or miss, and while I have no problem teaching how to go through these (everyone has to learn at some point), it frustrates me when other players refuse to listen.

I enjoy PvP and WvW as well, so I’m happy to join in these endeavors but just haven’t had a solid group to make them enjoyable.

Currently I split time about 50/50 between a Guardian and a Thief. Once I complete my ascended gear on my thief I will be moving on to a light character as well. My Guardian is full ascended, unfortunately it’s split between Zerk and Knight (before researching and realizing the error of using knights for primarily PvE) so I’ll have to update some of those pieces. My thief is zerk, 2/6 ascended. All my trinkets are Ascended Zerk. Weapons are zerk exotics, and I have incinerator on my thief – just haven’t upped the crafting to make the ascended weapons. I’m a bit obsessive compulsive about trying to maximize my characters traits but I know this takes time for gearing up.

I know I won’t be a fit for every guild (clearly) but if you think I may work within what your group likes to do please feel free to reply here, message me on the forums, or PM me in game. If you have questions please feel free to ask, I’ll always answer honestly to ensure I try to find a good fit. I’m looking for a single guild with which to maximize representation, not a number of guilds to split time between. However in the end, I want to find a group of people I can have fun with!

Thanks for your time, have a great day!

It seems to me the easiest temporary fix to the precursor RNG problem is guaranteeing a pre if you throw 4 ascended in the forge.

Say you’re going after Incinerator. I believe throwing 4 ascended daggers of different stat combinations (to account for the legendary flexibility) into the forge should yield spark.

This would be pretty kitten time consuming considering you’d need 4 weapon recipes and 4 stat recipes. Not to mention a level 500 crafting requirement, and all the mats required to make this happen.

The only tricky thing would be dawn/dusk but they could just allow for a selection option like after completing a personal story – or pop it based on the inputted stat combination (e.g. if it has a berzerker GS it’s dusk, if it has Cleric’s, it’s dawn or something).

Am I missing something? I mean, I’d prefer a better long term solution but to me this seems like an easy interim patch to get rid of the RNG frustration.

Unfortunately I’m having the same issue – Missing three achievements (2 ranger things, obtain and swap pet, both done, and the inbox thing) and I’ve done all three, but won’t get credit, it’s a bummer

Celestial Recipes

I apologize for my ignorance but I’m curious about the Celestial Recipes. Basically, there are a ton of them. To unlock the jeweler line per se do I only need the Exquisite Quartz Jewel recipe which would allow me to discover the earring, ring, and amulet? Or do I need all 4 recipes in order to craft the set?

Thanks much!
