Is this forum dead?

The legend says that OAuth “is basically complete” since 8 months ago and yet we’re still lurking around with API 1.0 or a semi API 2.0 (which is basically API 1.1 based on its “new” features)

The last productive comment from a developer in the official API Development Plans has been over a year ago!

Therefore one simple question arises: Is this forum dead? – If so, why aren’t you just closing the whole API development forum?

Since the last official post from a developer was over a year ago, I’ll quote a post from Stefan Larimore (official developer). He was writing this post on another topic, but it is kinda important for the development plans in general was well:

Regarding a megaserver-compatible live events API: For a few reasons, there are no plans to build this in the short/medium term, unfortunately.

The reply was posted on 17th May 2014, and here’s the link:

Unfortunately I’m pretty sure this decision of not developing a Megaservers Events API means that OAuth authentication is on hold too and therefore many developers are kinda doomed I guess…

It’s a good idea, but it shouldn’t grant any “special access” to any confidential data, as everyone could just enter any user-account which he doesn’t really own.

But as long as the response parameters only include the last_online_date and server_id it should be fine.

It would also enable us to track if a player is currently online via a smartphone-app or website too, which is kinda awesome. – But in concern of privacy and stuff I’m not sure if ArenaNet will allow us to read this data without any confirmation from the concerning user(s).

Looks like some of the API is broken...

By the way: The XML File you provided as attachment seems to contain wrong times, or am I doing something wrong?

The Shadow Behemoth seems to have valid times for Central European Time, whereas other events, like Taidha Covington, has invalid start times?

I’m currently working on a fix for this.

Thank you very much for your answers.

I realized that the Great Jungle Wurm events (Crimson, Cobalt and Amber) do not have an event_id.

Is it possible to retrieve the event_id of those events, in order to be able to load details and localized texts via EventDetails.json?

GuildMessage would be awesome too!

By accessing GuildMessage via API the members of the guild could stay tuned on the future plans and dates of guild events!

If applications could periodically check for GuildMessage updates, mobile applications could even inform users via push notifications if something new happened.

Of course this would need something like OAuth2 authentication so that only guild members can view the messages of their own guilds. Otherwise some confidential information might get compromised.

tl;dr: an API which delivers the IDs of changed items starting from a given build number. build.json could be extended and used for this.

Push – Great idea. We really need this. “Changelog” for Skills would be great too.

Will the Wardrobe System enable us to wear Cultural Armor from race on different races?

For example:
When I’ve unlocked Norn T3 Armor on my Norn Warrior, will I be able to use this Skin on my Human Guardian as well?
