Guild Wars 2

I was one of the many unhappy with the new wardrobe system when it was released a few months ago, but I really would love to know if there are any plans to change it, mostly because as trivial as it may sound: I had spent a lot of time trying to make my Mad King costume match the actual colors of the Mad King himself, I was happy running around with a properly colored outfit as the Mad King is my favorite character in all the GW lore. Now that the dyes are set into only 4 slots per costume piece I can no longer match my old color scheme I had, but I am also more upset by the fact that none of the color slots correspond to the same areas of the costume, in example, when I color the pumpkin head orange it turns half the outfit orange as well, and the corresponding colors for the leather and cloth I choose don’t apply to the same areas of all the leather and cloth on the costume, leaving it looking very mismatched. I was just curious if there were ever any plans to change this set up? Will we ever be able to dye each part of our costume (hat, gloves, legs, chest, boots, shoulders) differently like before?

I can’t even dye my armor properly now, it seems that the dyeable parts have been split into at most 4 sets, which on my Mad King clothing, the clothing in question, just completely wrecks it (IE the pumpkin head that I would like to have orange turns half the outfit orange as well). I used to have it colored exactly like the Mad King’s own outfit but now I can’t do that much even. Really disappointed because those town clothes were my absolute favorite, and now I can’t even color them like I used to. I liked it better when I could individually dye each part of the outfit the way I wanted it instead of only getting 4 color slots to dye. I liked the old town clothes system so much better than this new one, just really disappointed that I can’t color clothes like I used to be able to now that all my dyes are account bound to boot.

I really couldn’t believe how many people complained about it honestly, I was able to finish everything, Clock Tower, Pumpkin Carver, even got my title (which is my favorite title). I’m a huge fan of the lore of the Mad King and really enjoyed learning more about him. I enjoyed everything, it was probably the most excited I had ever been with GW2 and it really made me look forward to this Halloween, but I have already stated my own rant:

It makes me sad to see how little knowledge, content, and lack of the Mad King himself was in this update.

I figured that the events based off holidays would’ve been given more attention than the regular Living Story updates, it really makes me worry what the Christmas update will be like too, it’s not as much of my favorite as Halloween of course but I did enjoy that one as well.

As it has been said before in several posts, and I entirely agree as of this far, this Halloween is lacking so much from last years. Halloween last year was one of my favorite updates, and it was one of the things that kept me playing this long, I looked forward to it this year for the entirety of the same. Don’t get me wrong, as I am a huge fan of the Mad King, and I really was into his history even from Guild Wars 1, and ecstatic that he had more history revealed in Guild Wars 2 as I loved collecting the notes from the ghosts to put together into the book (which I really wish there was some way to review the notes the ghosts gave you, as if the backpiece could function like a real book). I especially loved the Ascent to Madness as well as the cutscene of Oswald breaking out of the Lion’s Arch fountain. Mad King Says was also another favorite of mine, being able to walk side by side with one of Tyria’s most dangerous yet exciting historical figures as well as play Mad King Says in a similar manner as GW1 (aside from not actually dying when you fail to do what he says). I love the story for this years Halloween, love the hate/hate relationship between father and son, I thought the Bloody Prince was an equally awesome character.

I thought that this year it would’ve been similar to last year in that maybe you would’ve been able to make a book backpiece that had some relation to Edrick, or maybe it would’ve been Edrick destroying the LA fountain, or even a big epic battle where you had the help of the Mad King even to put Edrick back in the box, only once accomplished the Mad King would then double cross you somehow. I kept thinking we’d be fighting alongside the Mad King to seal away his son (similar in a way to fighting Palawa Joko during Scarred Psyche in GW1), or something just as equally awesome (plus I think it would’ve been hilarious to revive the Mad King if somehow he had ended up fainting in battle). I know that most people seem to think two things, one is that the event is over with, the second being that there may be some updated content similar to the different phases from last year, but I think I have to agree with the former. As stated in several posts, if there was going to be any more to do with this they surely would’ve hinted at it somehow or at least have stated there would be different phases. I keep my hopes up though that maybe Arena Net will throw us a curve ball and something surprising may happen, I enjoy the Mad King and Halloween too much to believe otherwise.

Other than that at least tell us the Ascent to Madness will return, the final fight with Edrick is awesome, and I love the story behind it, but in my own opinion I think the event was short lived, and way too easy to be the ending of the Halloween story line for this year. Compared to last year when we experienced and learnt so much more, and at the end of it had a great final battle, as the event spanned weeks, this year the event could be completed within not even an entire weeks time and we didn’t learn much at all about Bloody Prince Edrick: who his mother was, how he grew up, why he is what he is (there has to be a little more to it other than just having Oswald Thorn as a father), etcetera. I’ve completed everything possible, I’ve fought Edrick a few times, and still there’s a whole week left with nothing to do until the Mad King stops by for his games of Mad King Says. I myself really enjoyed Halloween in GW2, and I really do hope maybe Anet will throw us a surprise or two, but this Halloween just feels too short lived, with no real knowledge gleaned from it, and a baddie that is just too easy to defeat. I certainly didn’t feel as awesome as I did last year fighting Mad King Thorn himself (and laughing hysterically as he’d fear me as well as squad mates over the edge of the floating arena into the abyss below). I really hope that if this is the end of this Halloween, that something just as awesome as the first years Halloween happens next year.

(I’ve noticed that most of the devs haven’t responded to posts about how short/disappointing this Halloween event is, and I take it as a shimmer of hope that maybe something surprising will happen, call me crazy.)

Also one final note: Where is the mini Mad King Thorn, been waiting since last Halloween for one! It’d be one of those must have minis for me and would definitely be my favorite!

I can log into a character but get as far as the loading screen of where I left them logged off and the load times out saying there’s a Network Error.

I was at the Splintered Coast checking out the new update stuff when my game suddenly crashes. I try to log back in and on character selection my game continues to keep crashing, any pointers on how to fix this? Or do I have to wait for the next patch?

Is there any way that there could possibly be, in the future, a way to change the color of the glowing bits on the Asuran Tier 3 Light Armor (goggles, right gauntlet, and button on the chest) so that it does not go off the primary color, but can be dyed it’s own color? I noticed that something similar to the idea I mention was done with the Magitech armor in the Gem Store.

Got another work in progress, will be finished soon.

I’ll probably post more work as I draw more of Thorn!

Being a huge fan of our “most amiable and shrewd ruler in Tyria’s history”, I simply had to do some fan related arts.

~So to start things off, I wrote a poem of sorts:~

There once was a king quite mad,
the most feared Kryta ever had,
though his courtiers adored him,
his people abhorred him,
and worse was to come too soon.

He became something to fear,
as his madness became quite clear,
through torture and game,
there were pleanty to maim,
when you rule a city or two.

And when he could not be appeased,
people would fall upon broken knees,
as he became more daft,
so grew his insidious wrath,
though he thoroughly enjoyed the screams.

Though his rule did not last long,
his people would right his wrong,
through terrifying strife,
they took his life,
after storming the castle through.

He swore on his dying breath he’d return,
as his courtiers and castle burned,
as his people set it alight,
they took this with fright,
and decided upon an act most daring.

To keep their dead king at bay,
they parted his corpse and hid it away,
each limb taken and sealed,
so that he could not be healed,
though his spirit, banished, plotted revenge.

But this is not the end of his tale,
and with given time he may prevail,
for one day and night,
to his grinning delight,
he appears before the smiling moon.

Just hope with all your heart,
that those seals do not break apart,
for the day that they do,
it is something you’ll rue,
unless you enjoy playing Mad King Says.

I also drew a lovely picture and sculpted a tribute, long live our Mad King!

The chest has arrived, though it took a while.

Really not happy about this as I only have a little bit to myself that I can spend freely, I chose to put it into this and I hope the chest I bought comes soon.

Title says it all, just purchased a consortium chest from the Trade and I have not received it. It’s been about 15 minutes now.

I seem to be able to log in now and everything seems fine, probably cause the event is over and everything cooled down now.

Sent a ticket too

It keeps giving me that whole “check your firewall, security” stuff but I know it’s none of that, I was able to log in and out fine when the event started to lag out on me even.

So I was there to finish the event, got the chest luckily, noticed I couldn’t type anything in any of the different chat types and decided to log out to see if that would fix it and now I can’t log back in. When will I be able to log back in?

So I tried sending the outfit back to my Charr to see if it would still crash on me. It would seem that my Charr can change the color on it just fine, equip and unequip it as well. This problem only seems to lie in sending the outfit to my Human and then trying to change the colors there, which still results in the crash.

Uh so yeah, I was trying to change the color on my Mad King outfit I bought during the Halloween Event, and it wasn’t working, so I decided to try taking off the pieces to see if that would do anything and it seems to cause a major crash.

I had bought the gear on my Engineer Charr and after the event I sent the costume to my Mesmer Human.

It would seem that the crash only occurs when I dye a part of the costume and then try to remove it. The game quits and the following pop up occurs:

I have sent the report, and hopefully this is fixed soon, I really want to change the colors on my Mad King costume.

Would definitly love being a Tengu, also, Quaggans could possibly be a fun race to play as too! ^^ Now thinking about it, the Naga would be epic as well.

Being called a Lunatic Courtier feels like more a compliment than anything, but I surely must be for being mad for the Mad King!

I really enjoy the Halloween events that have spanned from Guild Wars to Guild Wars 2, and I have to say I am a great admirer of Mad King Thorn. I was just wondering if there is any chance there could possibly be a Mini Mad King Thorn, that way we wouldn’t have to wait til Halloween to get a look at that ghoulish pimpkin smile. I know he’d be my favorite mini by far if it were posssible to make it happen! Hail to thee, Mad King!

I’m gonna miss our Mad King.

Was just wondering when our lovely King Thorn will be departing, I want to be there to see him off, til next year. Hope maybe sometime he might break free from his Mad Realm, and maybe even become some part of an add on to seal him away again. xD
