You have your model settings on low quality, because of this the normal models are replaced by those black males you see in that picture.
The difference between norn and human in this low graphics model is just the size.
(you can test this by putting the setting on something like medium/high)

This 2 part trait isn’t working..

The increased stun duration does still work, although this might even be 100% instead of 50% (can’t really time .5 sec that reliable)
The ‘important’ part does not work at.. which has quite the dramatic effect on powerbuild rangers.

BUG:
After stunning someone it should apply Attack of Opportunity(adding 50% damage on next hit) to the ranger & pet. This however is not being applied to the ranger itself.

Because of this the ranger can’t use the Bash+Maul combo to burst anymore(which translates in ~1000-3000damage loss)
So basically.. playing a power ranger is pretty much killed because you’re missing the big burst damage you would normally have

Going to disagree. My target is my pets target, if I hit f2 it should look for that target and move in range, period.

I think you’re really wrong at that specific part and I think it is what most people underestimate. This mechanic excels in multi targeting/tasking, which no other profession can do it with the level of control we can. Sadly most people only look at the damage output the ranger is losing “when you ignore the pet”. (Look at all the crying on the ranger forum..)

On issue:
My pet and I are separate units of which I both have control (I present you: the ranger mechanic!). This means both our units, and this is why we differ to necro’s and mesmers with their ‘so called’ pets, can be and are set on completely different tasks. while this might take some practice we can do literally anything with them, from pulling different mobs together, tanking Ettins without getting hit or nibbling on a Mesmer while you stab his friend.. You make it.

What you were saying about my target is my pets target is not true at all.. I assume you are thinking about the fact that, when I’m attacking this grawl my pet automatically attacks it like I do.. While in fact it’s the same as pressing f1 once, which GW2 does for you if you don’t set your pet on yield(or whatever it’s called.. Maybe passive or something, I’d call it Mellow perhaps).

The problem of the targeted F2 skills isn’t that hard to overcome either..
Just swap pet(where the issue starts)
Press F1 then F2 instead of just spamming F2 (or just wait .5 second if it isn’t less till the pet goes on auto attack and the press the pets ability of choice)

The problem with the F2 ability is the fact that other actions, like the running or other actions of the pet, override the skill causing it to go on cooldown. I would say, just make the f2 override everything the pet does and only stop the ability when canceled by the player or interrupted by someone else.. Can’t be that hard I would say.

Your point with the drakes shooting the wrong direction is perfectly normal..
When you swap to your drake, it doesn’t have a target yet.. So why would it target something, I think it’s rather comical seeing lightning bolts flying a random direction

Hehe it’s really your pick for which armor you choose to wear.

The only thing I think you should change (like others) issue the dye’s.
I noticed you were getting a quiver which I used myself a while ago to, so what I recommend is trying to match the dye of your armor to the unchangeable quiver.. Also a small tip(in case you did not know) don’t go to the ‘sort by hue’ while picking colors but ‘sort by material’(or whatever). In my experience those dye’s found under leather, do really look better than the metallic stuff in this case

No! Don’t take it the wrong way!
I just didn’t get the fact you were adjusting the settings. From my point of view you were, like, looking right and zoom in for no reason and than start fighting(which didn’t make any sense)
Apart from the other methods we have to interrupt stuff it’s a good one!

Dont let this change that and keep sharing stuff x)

What are you implying with the ‘power scaling reduction’? As far as I know rangers are capable of delivering more than enough damage if needed, if that’s what your on about.

Pve areas with a lot of AOE are a pain for every zerker not just pets, either swap at the right moment, let it retreat (when pets low) or get a pet with more toughness(even vitality) and keep swapping if needed

Pathing issues are a constant aspect if pets being tweaked over and over just give some clear issues instead of just saying “I demand changes because it sucks!”
And you have the most extreme example, the harpy fractal. Yes pets can’t jump from in platform to another without following you, so what? Just go melee range(which is the best thing to do at harpies) or which most rangers seem the forget.. Use a RANGED pet for that jumping bit.

As for wvw.. I don’t really care that my awesome catbeardoglizard can’t reach people on walls.. Neither can a person playing melee

I know everyone wants a drastic overhaul.. But I can’t really think of one where I still feel like the ranger which I have been playing since gw1, which for me is the most important thing

The pet mechanic makes the Ranger the worst overall class in the game. The Ranger’s pet excels in only two areas: small scale pvp and overworld pve, so I guess it’s fine if those are the only things you play. However, they keel over in dungeons, wvw zergs, and any difficult content that requires dodging.

(1)They are perfectly fine in dungeons.. Adding damage/boons
(2)WVWzergs.. Right, it’s the same as thief/Mesmer. We are not the only profession that doesn’t add a lot inside a Zerg, don’t blame the pet for that

(3)The part about the crucial dodging part is the only thing we can’t protect our pets from, aside from swapping to a devourer for instance. Still the downtime of the pet is not that high, just don’t swap if you know the second pet is going to die right away. And besides.. Such fights won’t last trough the whole process wether it being an event or dungeon. (Unless your fighting a giant.. Then you are forced to use a foul, spitting spider or something)

So basically.. You want to remove pets just because you have to swap to a ranged pet for one type of mob/mechanic

Pvp or pve.. ? Quite a big difference

Pvp:
Power to the max and full on zerker. Combined with a LB it’s a perfect burst weapon in conjunction with moment of clarity. Hit the enemy a little then rush in, hilt bash(triggering MoC) and hit maul. It’s not uncommon to see that hit(crit) for 4-6k, and that’s not even on the glass cannons. If all goes horribly wrong just hit 4(block) and create some distance and face the right way and the fly away to safety like a bird(swoop)!

I’m more of a sword fan in pve myself since the raw dmg is just higher. But again power over condition damage if you want to build around GS since it doesn’t gain anything from condi.dmg
I’d say axe/warhorn for secondary probably? Just to provide some boons and damage when not being right in the enemies face for different reasons

I don’t think the ranger pet is that bad at all..

In pve it’s incredibly useful:
Solo- it’s basically allowing you to either have 2x decent tanks for mobs which are otherwise not solo-able or a decent critting/dmg machine while leveling or something.
Group- I personally only use two different pet sets when running dungeons. Fury/might if the party is lacking, which pets can provide pretty decent while fighting. Or normally 2x feline for great dmg that can’t be ignored, beside your own damage.

It’s insanely usable in pvp:
Having additional CC (since most of us use dogs) ready to be used on a secondary unit while being stunned or whatever is priceless for me as a ranger, especially since the cc I’m receiving is not hindering my pet at all
Also, the fact you can ‘micro’ your pet to nibble on someone’s ankles while you tackle another task is something we can do best. (Being imitated by a brainless golem)

Generally:
Okay the AI has its fair share of flaws but if you play enough hours as a ranger you know those all too well.. So it’s really not that hard to overcome those flaws.
For instance, when you drop a floor down, swap pets so the poor thing doesn’t have to run around for half an hour to rejoin you. Or stop moving for a fraction of a second if you want to swap+f2 so your pets walking animation won’t cancel it.

Adjusting the pet AI step by step is being done, the majority of the changes are IMO going the right (1)direction and we just have to wait and see if it keeps getting improved.
Removing this mechanic is just stupid talk.. The damage split caused by having a pet is the only viable argument, which in turn is complete nonsense if the right pet is alive and kicking(which isn’t that hard)

What are gimmicky stuff are you up to with step 0 and 1..? It’s pretty much aim & interrupt, nothing special
Also if you know the thief is going to stealth+stomp your ally:
just hit concussion shot the second the thief goes invisible, (if you had him targeted) projectiles will remember the location of your enemy for a brief moment and just hit like any regular auto-attack

Got the same problem right now .. really odd. no parties invites/requests or guild.
Relogging doesn’t seem to work either.
