swiftness and perma +speed sigils were a pendoras box. they should just rather remove all sigils and swiftness buffs from the game. Currently it steals away an utility slot for those who have a sigil, or it forces a certain gameplay upon characters (air/centaur/focus for Mesmers) for constantily keeping it up or it just overkill everyone who hasn’t it.

No matter what you do, it’s a pandoras box that keep making people unhappy. For gods sake, just remove that stupid buff completely out of the game and give back the chance to invent builds without the absolute nessessity of having a perma speedbuff.

So we are basicaly back at the Focus Must-Have. I’d ran a 20/20/0/0/30 Build if I remember correctly. But I only managed a 6k DMG attack with an all-hit-shattering & blurred Frenzy (so two mainskills on CD). I cannot like that completely, because in comparison to what my thief does easily outshine this with his autoattacks (1k, 2.5k, 2.5k hits really are not rare – and everybody who has played thief before know how fast they hit their autoattack with daggers) wile the thief is much more survivable than the mesmer in meleecombat. I do not even want to start compare to a GS Warrior…
So basicaly for playing a Mesmer acceptable in PVE you have to go through a lot of hardship (much harder playstyle than thief/Warrior due lower health/defense) while not completing reaching the output of other melees.

And in question with Utilities…. yeah, Mantras are awesome….not. Veil….Blink…Mimic…the phantasm (which die ridiculously fast as every Boss throws around AEs like stupid)… nope, I don’t like them, to be honest. Other classes have more viable Utilities for PVE.

The thing I cannot approve the most are people who run their Mesmer with a Support Build. They really think they are an aid to a party? The content in where a supporter is needed has to be invented first. Right now, one can accomplish every dungeon with 5 berserkers. If you switch only 1 berserker with a supportmesmer, the needed time to finish a dungeon goes up. So right now supporters are nothing more than a hindrance for their party. – that’s why currently a PvE Support Mesmer is no smart choice either.

Gues I’m just fed up with Mesmer. He had a great introduction, but ingame he never reached the potention the developpers promised. And they just keeped on nerfing the class because he is unbalanceable in PVP – but with all the nerfing his PVE potential got more and more downstairs.

well it was until about three months ago when I stopped playing and since then lurking at every patchnotes in hope (among other things as it is not as I just quited because I’m QQ with current PVE Mesmer status-quo) they would boost Mesmer in PVE – so feel free to fill me up with actual ingame scenery.

You seem to play a different Mesmer than me.

PvP Mesmer is hardly balanceable, we all know. But in PvE he lacks power like a sinkin’ rat. This starts from the missing swiftness – a buff that has become pretty much like pandora’s box and thus never should have found a way into this Game – up to simple conclusions that my mesmer crits with Staff-Autoattack of 600 dmg while my Thief hits for 2.5k DPS in twice or three times as fast as the autoattack of the mesmer. Staff overall is quite bullkitten as it’s suposedly a condition weapon while it’s only dmg skill, the warlock, is a berserker power/crit dependent. What’s more is, confusion as Mesmers main Debuff sucks as hell in PVE – no counter-arguments here. Last disadvange is (as a direct result of the first two) the bondage of using specific weapons. Focus for Speed is a Must-Have aswell as GS as it’s the only acceptable weapon for damage.

As a PVE only Gamer I am really unhappy with my Mesmer as he is no match compared to my Thief.

I really have a hard time too see existence rights for Staff Mesmers. Personaly I prefer Staff over GS and I go for Bitfrost as a legendary. But Staff currently is imo too weak. And what’s more it does not correspond to any of the other weapons wich makes switching weapons equal to lose power. This is very against Mesmer-playstile because until now no matter what build you play as a Mesmer switching weapons is what makes you strong. But not for the condition Staff Mesmer.

I’m only prefering to PVE though, as I don’t play PVP.

a long delay… 5 secs are not a long delay IMO. As I calculated abouth (ok, more a rough draft) after setting up you have 15k DMG + bleedings all 5 seconds. and this is only phantasms dmg, you still can relax and hit with GS or Staff or if you’re crazy with Sword.

Assuming you have time to set this up (wich is basicaly only in bossfights I give you that, but as said before I think too that shatter are better for mobhordes) this is unbeatable by any shattering IMO. Shatter just needs a lot of activity from the mesmer and even then it with my full berserk 4.5k Hits with all 4 shatters is maximum I can achieve. And then I have to wait 15 more seconds for cooldown. but after a perfect phantasm set up as a phantasm Mesmer you basicaly have free time which is imo awesome. I can run around buff/rezz Allies. I can drop cauldrons on the dredge fractal boss, or just spam lazy GS autohit on the boss for additional dmg.

Ill stay with it. on bossfights Phantasm > Shattering. Almost Always.

Currently Shatter builds are the most powerful Mesmer builds in terms of sheer damage. The beauty of it is that you don’t necessarily sacrifice survivability even if you go full glass cannon.

Phantasm builds are a thing of the past: Phantasms themselves are still good but are generally supplementary to Shattering.

I don’t think so.It depends on the situation.

In my opinion shattering is better for PvE versus standart mobs. you can easily spam clones and easily shatter and hit multiple enemies with it. Here is shattering > phantasm. Phantasm have lacked with this since the first day and probably will ever be lacking at this.

On a PvE Boss though phantasm are better than shattering. I’ll simply spam the duelist on a bossbattle. If you are smart and place them well, you can more or less have up 3 duelists at all time through the boss battle. And this does crazy damage. 4.5-5.5k DMG with each Duelist + heavy bleedings. Basicaly all 5 seconds 15k dmg + “a lot” bleedings That is superior than any shatterbuild, kittentering does 3-4k at maximum and has even skilled a long CD.

In PvP I cannot talk because I don’t play it.

Conclusion:
PVE Mobhordes: shattering
PVE Bossfights: Phantasm

So basicaly both builds are still viable IMO.

Honestly gold isn’t difficult to make and the cost of crafting a legendary averages to a relatively low amount..

500g+ is “a relatively low amount?”

Good to see I wasn’t the only one who laughed about this.

Even 100 Gold isn’t reachable for someone who doesn’t want to sit in front of the Trading Post playing Wallstreet.

Currently I feel like… No, I’m certain I get disadvantaged for playing this game like ArenaNet told us on their multiple videos. By doing jumping Puzzles, trying Achievements, twinking a lot and just having fun playing around. And I’m currently stuck at a 40 Gold wealth.

I really like the idea posted above to put a merchant into the game who sells PreCursors for Achievement Points. That would be the first day I would feel fairly treated.

And I just had to laugh as I remembered the Pre-Release belief that went through the Fanforums when Guild Wars 2 was still in development:

“Dont worry about the Gold – Gold won’t be worth anything anyway. All the cool stuff will be handled out with other things like Karma or PVPPoints or Achievements.”

And now we have an artificial economy where Gold rules everything. Great Job so far, ArenaNet.

Its something you have to get used to but i see it like this: Other professions waste a utility slot for swiftness alone. I waste nothin

You waste nothing? Dude, even with the most cheap solution (6x Ruby Orb) you waste a

120 Power
12% crit damage
84 Precision

With Centaur-Runes you get a +Power-Return of +165, but no Crit, no Precision. Let alone all the possible synergies you could reach with a decent rune-set.

What me irritates the most with the new patch even Ranger are gettin into the “speed squad party” with the Thief, the Elementalist and the ingineur. Now we have 4 Classes that can get spped passively or uphold swiftness buff with no effort but with the Mesmer ArenaNet seems to refuse to give him anything that would help to downsize that movement cripple handicap.

Currently I’m running with Centaur Runes because I cant stand my Mesmer without. But for this I’m wasting dozens of Attributes, crit chances, etc.

95% of Mesmers will play with Sword/Pistol

<5% play with Scepter

Thank you ArenaNet, this “fix” is a great step forward to balancing all weapon choices of the Mesmer. Now please kill either Staff oder GS, so we have finaly an answer which of this weapons you want us to use.

It’s not only the 5:11 error, but I can even hardly log in my account at the very begining when I start GW2.exe. In 9 of 10 tries I get an error with the failing connection with the login server. If I’m very lucky and get past this wall of hindrance I’m sure getting kicked on the character selection screen in an attempt to login with the 5:11 error.

GS is the best WvW Weapon, because it’s the only weapon you can do anything up on the wall of a keep or in siege fighting against many luring up the wall.

Sword, Focus, Torch = Useless Melee
Pistol = Short range
Scepter = only single target dmg, usless low dmg. Clones spawn on the wall and thus cannot be shattered.
Staff = Winds of Chaos does no DMG to fight this hordes. Chaosstorm has a too long cooldown and it the only AoE of this weapon.

There is only GS left. The Berserker Phantasm needs NO LoS and can hit multiple enemies for some thousand dmg. Mirror Blade and Mind Stab are both AEs and can do somewhat damage.

So my conclusion: GS = WvW Weapon

I’m from Switzerland too and it feels like ANet banned our country from the login-process.

Since 2 days I experience this error code almost every time I try to log in. First I thought it was a server problem but then my guild told me that they can play fine.

It takes me about 9 to 10 log in tries to get actually ingame. It start’s with problems when I try to log-in

“game-client couldn’t connect with the Log-In-Server”

and if I get past this error once, I get the 5:11 Errorcode when I try to log in with on of my characters. If I get into the game once, I will be kicked the next time I try to change the map.

Game is simply unplayable for me right now.
