Many people have discussed giving players the option to change how they allocate their WvW rank/skill points. I am completely in support of being UNABLE to swap them out “at-will” or even “at-purchase,” since this can make it a bit unfair — “Oh, we’re about to start trebbing? BRB 1 min, maxing out the treb and siege mastery line.”
However, if we were allowed to completely reallocate our points ONCE per WvW reset (once every two weeks), this could potential change the meta and in-field/siege strategies employed by groups. Players could decide to become siege experts focused on a certain line for that reset, giving them new roles to play and master. For the player, this introduces newness. For the server and enemy, this can transform how things are done completely.
Supplementary to this is that new WvW skills are constantly being introduced, but — and this is PURELY speculation and guesswork on my side — some players may not spec into them since they are already “on-track” towards a previous skill line (eg. applied fortitude). Given how long it is (not too painfully long, I personally like the current rate of WXP acquisition) to accumulate WvW rank points, some players may not want to invest hundreds of hours to max out a line, only to realize that it doesn’t fit how they want to play as much. Similarly, players who max out treb mastery won’t get bottlenecked into playing that role forever — “Hey, <Playername> you had maxed out treb mastery right? Get on this treb and hammer away!” I understand why points were reset when arrow cart mastery was changed, but I think it would be nice to also have a point reset when new skills are introduced — some players MAY have specced into them from the start if it was there.
If points can be reset once per reset, even at the cost of 1,000 badges of honor, I’d be a happy WvWer.
