Please do not nerf the tornado/meteor shower combo for eles. This is the one combo that makes ele’s hugely viable in WvW, and it is not overpowered. It is easy to dodge, considering the fact that meteors don’t always hit when enemy are inside the radius, and the tornado combo is actually very balanced. Although all skills cast prior to using tornado are made much more powerful, the equalizing factor is that you can’t cast anymore spells while in tornado form. This means based on the duration of previously cast spells, you are only getting at a maximum under 7 seconds of greater damage for all spells cast. After those 7 seconds (the duration of meteor, the longest possible cast), tornado is not very useful besides the extra stability. Please listen to the community on this one, as I know no one wants this change. It will hurt ele’s a lot more than it will balance the classes which I understand is the intended reasoning behind this nerf. If anyone else agrees, please comment to show Anet that you agree that tornado/meteor combo should not be nerfed.

I have been commanding since October 2012 and have moved throughout the tiers since 2013, until settling on Borlis Pass. I rarely come on these forums these days since the death of the match-up threads (Rest in peace.. ), but I figured I would share with you all what it is that made Borlis Pass the right server for me, and why I think it is a good fit for many others:

Community.

Wait… Mich… No… It can’t be that simple. You’re telling me one of the main reasons you are still playing this game is because of… COMMUNITY?!?! But I just like killing kitten, so that doesn’t apply to me you dumb care bear.

Well.. ok. That works for some people. You are all smart, that’s why you are playing an MMO in the first place. Search deep down in your brain and ask yourself “What is it that makes me play MMO’s?” Besides the obvious answer that you purely enjoy the game or certain aspects of the game, the answer is probably because you enjoy playing with a community of other fun players who all have similar interests. That’s always been the answer for me. If you think about it, playing an MMO is like having a community inside your bedroom that’s always ready to hang out with you and do things that YOU like whenever you like! (Woah, don’t take that bedroom part in a weird way..)

So, what makes Borlis Pass’ community so special?

In a nutshell, it is active and entertaining. After being on many a server, I found that the communities on many of them were generally lackluster, unfriendly places. If that wasn’t the case, they were nearly too dead to even get a good impression. A dead community does not mean that there is no players – it means that the player interactions are limited and monotonous, almost as if it weren’t players communicating but rather coded AI. On BP, everyone fits in in one way or another, and the varied personalities are all unified by a common sense of humor, which of course is lots of irony and sarcasm (All in good humor, though!) What can Borlis Pass offer concerning WvW?

Borlis Pass is at the bottom of tier 5, but has been stable for months. The main issue that prevents us from progressing through the tiers is that we lack numbers and as I call “PPT focused” guilds. Most of the commanders and group leaders here are mainly interested in getting fun fights. Here’s a percentage to define the population in WvW:
10% Roamers
20% Small man groups
30% 10-25 man guild groups
40% Larger guild groups or commanders driving zergs

The one thing you can count on for BP is that we will remain stable where we are in tier and that the community is a lot of fun. Because of our location in the tiers, players can find a little bit of any WvW aspect they prefer, be it roaming or running zerg groups. This provides a high chance of encountering fun and challenging opposition in all aspects of play.

I will be on Borlis Pass for the rest of my days. Although BP is self sufficient, I know many other servers are struggling to remain dynamic and enjoyable, which is why I came here to tell you all about BP It is an enjoyable, friendly, and welcoming community that is always happy to accept new players into it. Commander Monkey Shine on Borlis Pass. He has insane map awareness, communicates his ideas in a very interesting and understandable way, and he has an air of confidence about him that rivals all Tier 1 commanders. As soon as you enter a map, you know he is there within the first ten seconds of play. If you are looking for a leader to look up to, Commander Monkey Shine is the best way to learn. Heck, just about everything I know I have learned from him, and he keeps me on my toes to this very day, quizzing me while I lead (Although he doesn’t make it appear that way, I know his intentions )

If you ever consider transferring to Borlis Pass, it would be worth it just to meet this marvel of a man who we call Monkey.

Fun fights this week CD and HoD! Definitely providing some challenges which is exactly what we are looking for. Hopefully the match-ups become more balanced soon, but until then, keep on keepin’ on. Lol all I can say is that SoS wakitten by KN on the west and Ebay on the east, and theres no way that we matched your numbers tonight, and certainly not 3-1 lol. I’m not sure that we were seeing the same things out on the battlefield…

Don’t be mad at SoS, remember we didn’t choose this match-up just as much as neither YB or DH did. Last night consisted of much drunken naked zerging :P Just try to focus on having fun this week, because who knows if we will ever even face each other again

This match-up has turned out much more fun than I had expected!! Its been great catching up with some BP… Even managed to sneak into BP’s hills behind some Ebay who bashed the gate open, but I wasn’t really welcomed inside LOL!

Awesome fights TC and FA!! Went into this match-up not knowing what to expect, but when we can match the numbers, the fights are epic! Glad to be here, and thanks for having us!

Idea for commander changes: As a commander, it would be extremely useful for me to be able to draw on the map and have everyone in my squad would be able to see what I draw (Squad joining would help to prevent confusion if another commander drew on the map and would add one more thing for spies to have to do). I am sufficient at explaining plans, but being able to draw out exact paths, and ping locations for all to see would really help people to understand plans and show them an exact route in which I plan to take. Just a thought, but I think it would help a lot.

I don’t wish to argue. it just seemed very suspicious how all of the attacks at Eternal early on in the reset seemed too good to be coincidental. It really seemed like they were coordinated. All else aside, I don’t think BP had an alliance last week (I ignore alliances and just fight everyone), but i’m not sure. As suspenseful as the first 2 hours of reset was commanding in EB, we had a hell of a time defending that keep for as long as we held out. good luck to you both this week!

lol. you can’t convince anyone that there isn’t an alliance between DR and MG. It has been made very obvious at this point.

OK: to clear up why we went to DR BL early on in reset: Our borderland was queued, and in EB, MG and DR were making it way too obvious that they were double teaming us, so it was time to take the fight to a new map. If you are going to double team a server, at least don’t make it so obvious >.>

Well, I’d like to thank the 12 DH trying to get through the second trap room in the EB jumping puzzle. I had one of the best times in there yet. I was that ranger up on the traps holding your whole group and your commander off for like 30 mins… So thank you lol. I had an amazing time xD
