Thanks for more insight, more than anything I am overwhelmed with choices.
I was hopeing for a bit more direct advice such as:

Try a fighter with x and y weapons, pick up a and b skills so you can achieve c and z sigils will pair Nicely. I have little to no problem with groups if I do x, and for champions it is better to try z. To get from a to b swiftly I use xyz, Also w is a good utility that is a lot of fun.

Pve Not into pvp so much

Also I’m not a huge fan of pets.

I just purchased heart of thorns, and am a bit lost on what profession will best suite me. I have tried each one out for about an hour each in the pvp Lobby to get a feel but I think that only made my choices harder. So many weapon combos an so many out of date forums. I have made several spreadsheets only to drown myself in more confusion. Now I would like to be sold your fav. Profession.

About me:
- I mostly play a bard in old D&D rp games.
- if I were to pick one weapon from gw2 to adventure with in real life it would be a torch for practical reasons.
- fight style I prefer fast hits to one slow large one
- I would like to be able to engadge the enemy from a distance but be able to survive toe to toe.
- rather not carry arround 2,3,4 sets of extra gear and weapons
-don’t need to the the best damage, healer, or shield, but I don’t want to hit like a wet noodle and have to run every time I engadge a group of enemies.
- my character would be neutral good ( more on the lawful that unlawful)
- I enjoy helping others, but seeing as I don’t have a core group yet self reliability is more important.
- I like getting from point a to b fast
- I have noticed in events group come rather fast in waves, I would like damage all of them not just 1-2 or 1/2 every other wave.

-hopefully with one set of equipped weapons and skills be able to hit 900-1200 range enemy, be able to damage a group effectively, have some single target burn/burst and be able to move quickly.
-does not have to the be the best @ each just effective

Please only suggest a profession you mainly play not a theory, and some tips on how you excell at those areas.

Having the same problem with the mac client crashing every 5-8 mins.
