I don’t really think that engineers have any problems with survival. You can’t take too many hits, but you’r not really supposed to take them either. You just need to kite, kite, kite, and then kite some more, just to be sure. I guess it’s a matter of preffered palystyle and some people might not like running all the time. I also didn’t noticed turrets being as useless as people claim. They tend to go down quite fast if focused by mobs, but overall they often stay up for the entire fight for me. Main problem with them is not how long they stay, but thae fact that they like to fire on random targets and invite more friends into the fight. Still, using 2 turrets, granade kit and either rifle or pistol + shield I dont have any problems dealing with 3-4 mobs at once and even 6-7 are doable, though that can be pretty close.
Other than that, looking at OPs builds i’d drop med kit and bomb kit. For med kit, when soloing you’ll get more benefit from other healing skills and in groups most of the time you’ll be better off with elixir gun anyway. Bombs are also sittuational, if you’r running around with granades (witch are good on thier own and broken good with final trait from explosives) you shouldn’t need them. Replace bombs with some extra utility, like rocket boots for more kiting.
Also as mentioned earlyer, give flamethrower a try. Personaly I don’t like it, but a lot of people do, and I admitt it can be really efective. Especially if you need to deal with groups of mobs at once.
I agree with that. Decent LFG tool should be one of top priorities for ANet. Also properly fixing cross server play should help, for now it’s still buggy and makes searching for groups in overflows pointless.
Problem here is that dungens are pretty hard. Lots of people get discouraged and just give up on them. I’m personaly fine with them so far (though I haven’t done that many yet), but it’s making getting group for anything other than AC story mode take a looooong time.
I’ve runed only 4 story modes but so far I haven’t noticed anything in boss battles that I would realy classify as “cheap tricks”. Some bosses do require you to use specyfic tactics or take a while to figure out their attack patterns and how attacks get telegraphed, but I’d still call it a fair difficulty.
You can mess up pretty horribly (like I did yesterday running Sorrows Embrace, figuring out final bosses blid spots should be pretty obvious but It was a bit late so I still managed to die a few times too much) but there’s not really anything that’s uncouterable.
Still when you go with a pickup group it might be quite troublesome. Lots of encounters rely a lot on whole party actually paying attention and not dying in stupid ways. With random team and no teamspeak for coordination, setting for right tactics can be a bit of a pain. Still, everything so far seems doable, even though you might wipe two or three (or seven) times on the way there.
I think that a lot of complaints about dungeons come form the fact that their desine is verry different from what people are used to from different MMOs. You just can’t simply stay in place and beat on the boss hoping your support will keep you alive.
