I’d like it if you didn’t auto attack when you switch attunements.

I’d rather have it changed so instead of a “select target” spell, it should be like a normal aoe skill, where you place where you want it to land.

I dont have any problems on my Ele. Whether it be doing damage or staying alive or running away, can do all those pretty well and I win most 1v1 fights. Ele is certainly not weak just has a higher learning curve than other classes.

My Ele was my first character I’ve made/played for any of the GW series and compared to other classes, this class seems more of a “skill-oriented” class.

You have to be active and switch in between all the different attunements given the situation…

If you need some burst damage you’ll need to go Fire, if you or your allies are falling low on health.. switch to water, if you need some speed to catch up/disable enemies.. switch to Air, if your right in the middle of everything and need some defense to survive.. go Earth…

And I disagree with the people complaining about how attunement swapping should not have cd’s. That would be OP. And I have absolutely no problem with the cd’s for them and I hardly have any points into the Arcana trait line.

And (IMO) don’t think ele’s need weapon swapping unless it’s out of combat.
You already have a total of 20 weapon skills and more (if you have the right attunement swapping traits.

If an Ele with a Precision/Power build could weapon swap in combat… that would be over 50 skills he has access to right at his fingertips compared to the 10 skills other classes would have with their weapon swapping…. the burst he already has would pretty much be doubled, which in some cases could be an instant kill.

Don’t read me wrong, I’m not saying that Ele’s are perfectly balanced.. Just giving my two cents.

PvE Focus

Weapons:
Scepter/Dagger

I focus on DoTs (Damage over Time/ Condition (Burns/Bleeds/etc)) and defense for my Ele.

1) Weapon Damage/Toughness (Good weapon damage is almost as equal as a good defense)
2) Vitality (No such thing as too much health)
3) Condition Damage (DoTs damage)
4) Power

Switching between all the attunements is extremely important for an elementalist (imo).

Fire gives you the nice burst and burns..
Water gives you the healing and slows..
Air gives you the movement speed and blinds..
Earth gives you the defense and bleeds..

Pretty much one way you can do it is unload all your skills for one element switch to another and keep going and you should be back at your first element.
EX: Earth (start the bleeds), Fire (get some burst and burns down), Air (give yourself some movement to get some distance between you and the enemies, then Water for the slows and heal yourself (that should be enough to let you survive more hits until the enemy dies).

Yeah my ele is only around lvl 45 so far.. and I’ve been having fun with it all the way. I can sort of see how they are called underpowered and such, but it doesn’t really affect me too much.. yet, I’ve been pure PvE so far and probably won’t PvP/WvW until I get to level 80 and finish all the story quests.

I don’t really see a need for this, If anything adding the 20c is just a hassle. I just report it as spam and block.

Way to view another player's equipment?

Just started playing recently and I can’t seem to find out if there’s a way to view the names/stats of another player’s equipment. I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s ran around and seen another person with a nice/cool looking armor piece and wants to know the name of it to see if your able to get and equip it.
Most of the time when you ask them for the name of the equipment piece you like, you get completely ignored =/

Good Survival/Burst set-up/build?

Anyone know if there’s a good way to get a nice set-up that has good survivability, escapes and damage? For escape I love using Mist Form..
I’ll mainly need a trait build and what stats to stack on my armor/weapons.

I mainly PvE with my friend and we will most likely PvP/WvW later on but mainly PvE.

I’m currently around level 25 using a scepter/dagger and going for a crit/healer build stacking crit/precision and vitality/healing. But the heals aren’t really too noticeable in group events.

How does the healing stat work?

Skill base heal + your total heal = hp healed?
