Yup. Best thing to do is have your mother request a refund so you can use the cash to buy a brand new Heart of Thorns key for yourself without wasting anymore money.
Yep just as everyone else is saying, I have the “Connection error(s) detected. Retrying…” message on my launcher. Hope it’s fixed soon.

Once a gift card is active it cannot be refunded even with receipt. But they do carry gem cards so you can buy the gift card amount in gem cards then buy it through the Gem Store. I also made a thread asking Anet if they know what retailers will be selling the xpac. I hope they respond soon.
That won’t work because as originally stated, “I saw that you can buy the pre-order from the Black Lion in game store, but it does not take gems only cash.” So why suggest buying a gem card to the original poster?
Sorry OP, but I think you’ll just have to buy it using the gift card and wait until release, or spend your own money to purchase it in time for beta and use the Best Buy gift card on something else. =/

Hi,
I am having somewhat of the same issue. While trying to complete the dragon boss fight in “Dragon’s Reach: Part 2 – The World Summit” during Living World – Season 2, the game boots me out and gives me the same error message of (code=1022:5:1:874:101). I wouldn’t say the reasons stated in the original post are the causes for the disconnect, but this is definitely an issue that needs to be fixed soon possible. I am unable to continue onward with season 2 without seeing this error message.
I’ll submit a ticket, but I just wanted to let others know that this issue is happening to others.
