I would love to see an area similar to the Mists, except with gear available that matches exotics in the real world. Some classes (Elementalists for one) require a careful spec, and the correct armor sets to be competent (just my opinion…but a lot of skill as well), which costs a lot of money to swap around . As it is, you can go to the mists to test for free, but to acquire the same stats in the Mists as you would elsewhere is just too much of a pain, and in some cases impossible.
In the attempt to eliminate or reduce the farming of Orr, the area was in turn crushed population wise to the point where temple events, and perhaps more importantly the events leading to the gates of Arah are near impossible. Arah is MUCH more often than not closed due to this, and the level of players needed to open the gates only happens at peak hours. This would be acceptable if the rewards for Arah were greater, however as it remains it is the toughest explore mode dungeon I have come across, that does not offer rewards any different from other dungeons, and it is rarely open.
Possible solutions?
Increase rewards for completing Arah paths. (or just high tier crafting mat drop rate increase)
Increase rewards for completing events across the board in Orr, the temples offering the best of which.
Decrease the rate at which Orrians retake the gates of Arah.
These are just some on-the-spot ideas, they would all be easy to implement with little effect to the economy, and no real incentive to bring farmers back to Orr.
While I agree, this missing stat option is a problem for certain classes, I think I can see why it does not exist. Imagine a Dagger/Dagger Thief with a larger health pool…I would hate to see that happen. There is a serious balance issue with this, but some sort of attention should be given to certain classes like glass cannon Elementalists. You don’t see them out there for a reason, their health pool would be somewhere around 14k. That amount of health can be taken away in under 2 seconds by some classes, I would know, my first 80 was an Ele spec’d as a glass cannon. I now play a Mesmer, who can achieve the same amount of dps, but with the benefit of higher health, illusions for distracting, AND the ability to stealth.
Let’s try and keep these forums productive and troll free please. This is currently the only form of providing suggestions to the devs, they don’t need to waste their time reading senseless comments.
With that said, I agree 100% with the original poster. In the sense of the term “solution”, that website fits. However it’s a terrible solution, you do not have the entire community using it, it has a whole lot of flaws, and will likely never give us what we’re looking for.
ANet…Whether you like this idea or not, Orr does need a population bolster. In the attempt to eliminate “farming” Orr, that patch also dramatically reduced the healthy population in Orr (and by healthy I mean those completing events or anything else that can be productive). Not only is it near impossible to complete temple events these days, but Arah is rarely open for business. I personally enjoyed Arah on explore mode, but have not had the chance to even touch that dungeon since the patch.
Just posting to support this. Every MMO I’ve been a part of that added an LFG tool sometime after release dramatically changed the pace of the game for the better. Dungeons are fun, they always have been and always will be, but spending time where people congregate (capital cities) just to spam for a group is absolutely NO fun, and turns many people away from dungeons completely.
