One addition: was playing in Snowden Drifts few minutes ago (ok, ok, not too crowded there, but still). Had FPS between 80 and 120. Very smooth.

Since last week the new client runs rocksolid, no crashes or whatsoever. FPS is decent, round 40. I haven’t had the keyboard bug.

Kudos to the devs!

Same here, last days the client is crashing more than often and it is not only during crowded events (ofc it crashes at Teq, but what’s new) but also during walking in, for instance LA, with not much action around.

Running the new client on my brand new iMac (see picture below).
FPS around 30, not too high really.
Having same issues as other people in this thread, for instance:
Texture issues (armor not displaying properly), but later this was ok.
Some stuttering whilst turning around

But the positive side of it. The client is WAY more stable for me than the 32-bit version. I haven’t had a single crash.
Load times are also much shorter.

Keep up the good work, this client is promising.

Bags in Bags in Bags...?

BTW, when you are lvl80 and you are all in exotics, what is the use of opening all the bags in bags in bags and then clicking all the stuff to oblivion?

It would to be nice to receive something to be happy with, not just stuff to salvage into mats.

Though there are other threads about this topic, I am glad another one pops up. This weekend I tried to do some metas in HoT and couldn’t finish just one! Reason: game crashes when many folks come along for the final battles in a meta. The Mac client can’t handle it. And indeed the game works in Bootcamp-mode, but I don’t want to switch OS several times per day. And btw: HoT WAS sold as a PC/Mac-game remember?

Me too, I am stoked to hear more about the status of the native Mac client that should be in the works.

iMac Retina 5K for GW2?

in Account & Technical Support

Did I mention 5K?

What is say is that it is rather strange that Ambroze bought a new Mac and that GW2 crashes after login.

That said, GW2 crashes on LOTS of Macs nowadays. On my Mac, it is the ONLY game that crashes all the time.

Still a bit odd.

A brand new iMac… lower the resolution… This is odd…

Of course I totally agree with you, GW2 is one of the greatest games I have ever played. I simply wish I could play the game on my platform of choice too…

This morning I tried to play GW2: five crashes in 30 minutes.

Don’t we think it is about time that Arenanet acknowledges that they don’t deliver sufficient support for the Apple productfamily and refunds ALL Mac-users who purchased the HoT-expansion? No offense, no harm done.

And it is NOT an incident (several times per day), it is NOT my Mac (all other games perform like a charm)

But to be more specific: I love to play GW2. So I login, play for a while and then the game suddenly crashes. No error message, nothing. The usual drill: login, play, sudden crash. Then I get fed up with it and stop playing for a few days. Then I get tempted to play again, login, play, sudden crash, rinse and repeat.

GW2 is the ONLY game on my mac that crashes often and unexpectedly. Just saying.

Yesterday the State of the Game Update was posted on the website. A lot of things to get excited about.

It makes me sad that there wasn’t one single word about the problems with the Mac client.

What is the use of all these great new features when the game crashes unexpectedly and often?

Is was very excited when they anounced HoT and prepurchased it. I if had only known that after launch the Mac client was sooo buggy that it crashed every ten minutes. I am very disappointed and did not play much since then.

When you sell a product it has to work, simple as that!

Are people moving away from MMOs?

PC gaming has been dying for <insert number> of years, so says the press. Of course the “press” are all Apple people and are just jealous that all the really cool games are on PCs.

Which is odd since Apple controls the hardware, has a limited number of configurations and whose hardware ecosystem has more in common with game consoles than Windows PCs. It should be easier to develop games for that platform.

Until you realize that Apple insists you should use the version of the C language with objects that isn’t the popular one (very hipster). That their desktop hardware concept is sticking a MacBook inside of a giant monitor, with all the limitations a laptop has in terms of performance including lower end GPUs with no path for upgrading. Heck they are actively hostile with the concept of upgrading since they use custom screws that use special drivers as well as glue to keep people out.

But that’s okay, gaming is what iPads and iPhones are for. SUGAR RUSH

You just have to look at the success of Steam to see that PC gaming isn’t dead. Now yes, maybe there’s some MMO fatigue. MMOs are time consuming and for some people they finally look up and realize years have past and maybe its time to take a break.

I don’t see what Apple has to do with this.

And you know that most MMO’s have a mac client? Do you?
