I’m a commander in a T1 server. I know there are many commanders that only aim for the “perfect” setup. They seem to believe that this will give them a major advantage in pug blob fights. The advantage is small, there are other factors that will help more in winning fights. But that means the commander need to improve him/herself and they do not want to face that.

Lucky for you. There are plenty of commanders that do not have the same view. They will accept any player that is pulling their weight, regardless the class.

When I tag up I do not mind having thieves and rangers in the squad. If you play your best I want you in. If you need a small break cuz you have kids and you just say you need a small break I will not kick you.

My only advice is to find the commanders that suit you and follow them. Maybe even join a guild that has this mentality.

Elitism is happening in any part of the game. My advice is to join the non elite groups as there are options.

Im a commander in the game and I ask people to join TS as much as possible.

I often do guild raids that are open to people that join TS. Only if you join TS you get to be in the squad.

Open raids are different, I want many on TS but if that wont work then so be it. (let me tell you that winning a 30vs30 blob fight with 1 team on TS and the other is not.. the ones not on TS lose most of the time)

But to come to the raids where I tell people to join TS or they wont get a spot in the squad. Im not running open. People can chose to make a new squad and run like that (I run max 15 people so plenty of room for an actual open tag). The beauty of WvW is that there is something for everyone. If you dont like to join TS for a commander… how badly do you want to be with that person….? If that style does not favor you then find someone else that will accept you in the group. Or even make your own group, tag up.

There is nothing stopping you to make your own tag and run with people that wont be on TS.

The fact I experience is that when you have a team that is on TS of equal skill of another team that is not on TS. The TS team will win most of the fights. Most commanders dont want to lose and therefore ask for people to join TS and at least have a way to win.

Im a commander that will do this most of the times.
Sometimes when I know the person and know what they run as a engi druid or mesmer I will put them in a melee group (ditching the condi necro for instance, imo they dont need dem stabs… but they say they need the stab, ah well cant please everybody).

The point is that the vast majority of guardians warriors (necros less and less) run the correct builds to support the group they are in.

The majority of ranger engi and mesmer builds I seem to find in my squads are roaming, 1v1 and niche builds. If I find one that runs proper and I know that Ill help them out. Its just that the majority I find are running for themselves and not for the group. Most people I find with these classes run: Pew Pew Ranger, Condi Scrapper and Shatter stunlock etc mesmers. They bring less to the table than others…

Im sorry I dont have the time when commanding to evaluate all random people that join. I need to make a judgement call and make the groups as workable as possible.

Start running proper builds and I will notice and put you in stab groups (if they are available, when running 30+ people I might have 3 to 4 guards in total most of the time)

Would it be a good idea to remove rewards from ranked and let ranked be pride only?
Put all the rewards on unranked and lose any reward on ranked.

Your PVE players play for rewards. That is why they go to ranked. Remove the rewards and put them on unranked. I would gladly queue for unranked when I play for rewards and let the “pro” players trash it out in ranked.

(just dont complain that queue times will be long again… we had that last season)

It will be fine. Lower the settings and dont expect to run ultra high settings, GW2 is CPU heavy but your i5 will be all right.

Yes you can.

I run GW2 on multiple PC’s of various ages. Way worse than you have.
They run fine. Just need different settings but in general. They all run fine even in big blobs of people. Dont worry too much about it.

OP:
Would you take 9 people that run nomad signet reapers with dual staves?
Wont do any damage. Wont do a lot of healing. Wont do a lot of group support.
BUT
get to play how they want because they like their non meta build more than some meta build that others are forcing on then.

Do note that we wont be able to finish the raid but will have a fun time doing it. We wont use TS or something but type funny stories while we try to kite the boss around.

I hope you do want to finish the content. Otherwise I respect you that you chose to have fun over finishing the content. Bravo, but then you wont mix with lots of the people that actually want to clear the content as that is the fun part for them.

Sometimes running that is fun for you just does not work that well… I can tell you that this setup will end up on MANY wipes and will never clear the boss.

The Metabattle builds are a safe way for pug groups to have a shot at clearing the most challenging things in the game. Yes you can clear it with different builds. But pug groups just dont want the risk of picking someone up that will not contribute at all. At least the Meta build will contribute a bit.

You get to test different builds and setups with things like guild runs. (but in my experience you can only do that for a few weeks till people get annoyed)

I have seen this question popping up some times.
The issue is that people can join different guilds. Probably gonna take a lot of work to get this to function like we would want it to work. Potentially it will open lots of options for abuse.

I would guess Anet has other priorities than a complete overhaul of how guilds work.
Best option is to either transfer (if you guys really want to wvw together and go low pop that is merged with some high pop server) or join a wvw guild in your server (thats a reason you can be in multiple guilds, to have a PVE a PVP and maybe some WVW guild to join to)..

Could I get a slider or an option to make non shiny armors, weapons, backpacks to be really big and shiny. I like that style. The bigger and more particles the better (for me).

I see some people running around that look like they made their character 5 seconds ago. I dont like that, they offend me. Give me a slider to make them more like my taste and more like me

I had to show some people how ridiculous this request is. People have different opinions. The game has a certain style. You like it or you dont. There are already options to turn down character looks but “I dont want to lower my settings cuz I can play on max so I will play on max”. The whole argument is annoying. Let people dress how they want. Some people hate how I dress my char. Some love it. You can never make all people happy.

You can get the reward track in 1 day. You do not need to run with the zerg. Taking camps and other small objectives will give you max participation as well. Plus that is something WvW needs as well.

The whole argument of having to do WvW to get your legendary is getting old. WvW players have to do PVE aswell. I myself am a pure WvW player with some PVP on the side. I dont have any character with over 20% map completion…. If I wanted the legendary I will need to do PVE in order to get the stuff for it.

You know. I can live with that. A legendary is something you need to work for and do all the modes that this game has to offer. Even if you dont 100% like it. Some people went to WvW to get their gift and ended up only doing WvW cuz they saw how much fun it is. Same for WvW players that went to PVE and stuck around there.

Face it. A legendary is something that is showing others how epic you are (even if they are common ^^). Its not meant to be easy to get. I would start complaining a lot if PVE people get their way and have the gift of battle easier accessible for them. In that case there might be many posts coming about required PVE to get the legendary. 100% map completion was already removed from WvW (nerf) but 100% in WvW is a lot easier than 100% in PVE. Might be something for the WvW players to complain about…..

Live with it. Work for it. Find other ways to get your fun out of the game. There is no need to get lags by running with a zerg. Solo camp or join with 1-2 others to roam around and take objectives that way. It can be done easy cuz thats what I do every evening ^^

I would just not play ranked. But I want some pixels. I worked many hours in the previous seasons to get the achievs for the backpiece. I am so close that I only need some daily pvp matches. The fact that I do not need the wins does count. I know people play ranked to win. Same here. I would like to win. But if my team is toxic to me or even others in the team I do not want to help them at all and will try to avoid them….

Its a game and it should be meant for fun. Yes winning is fun but not at any cost….

Its difficult sometimes.
I know I will just not play and tab out if people are really toxic in teamchat.
I really dont like playing with hatefull people that rage the second they see something they dont like.

example: I play a thief and 1 person doesnt like a thief in his team and will say in mapchat “GG we got thief this game is lost go reroll or we all lose because of you”.

I seriously do not want to play this game with toxic people like that and chose to spend my time better. I know the rest of the team will not like it and might want to report me for not participating anymore.

But I play for fun. I log in and want to do some PVP matches and work on my backpiece. I do not want to play with people that take this game so serious like its their real life (I dont even take my real life all that serious why would I do that with a game). I rather lose fast and go to the next round and maybe have some teammates that will actually be supportive and not yell at you for doing something they do not approve of.

So I am sorry to all those people that do play the game fair for waiting a match out and maybe jumping around aimless but sometimes I just dont want to play with toxic teammates…. I really dont…
