hey all thief has been my main since lauch love the class had lots of fun with but then nerfs came and i still enjoy it but its gotten to hard to play with in pvp/1v1 which is what i do the most so now i barely touch my touch my thief which is sad cuz i had so much fun with it (i main ranger now ) but i wanted to know how do you guys find the daredevil in a spvp/1v1 situation ? and how do you fare vs classes like guard , ele and engi ? thanks

I’ve been liking the different sides you can go with Dare devil. The utility skills let you either pick and choose those for a zerk build, or condi build, or even pick one new skill and pick old ones your comfortable with. The elite skill makes it so that 1v1’s are easy if you have a way of taking an enemy down with your build.
1v2 I’ve found I can survive pretty well with the 3 dodges + if I’m able to take one down and time the elite quick, I can move on to the next one asap without the other enemy having time to revive their friend.

Overall its different, but I’ve very much enjoyed my time in PvP with it. My suggestion is to play with a build you enjoy and incorporate daredevil spec line and a utility skill in as well. Very fun!

My Feedback:
(I played a Dire set Thief for this Beta)

Dodges are where they should be. They feel like normal dodges.
The traits have been interesting, and just awesome to play with.
Each staff skill feels like its timed and doesn’t take too long, I really enjoyed BWE3 with the daredevil, and if it stays the same, then I am really looking forward to becoming one on my main.

Great job devs! Keep up the great work.

Everytime I try to log in it says “Network Error”

Anyone else can’t log in? Made time to play, and now I can’t.

Has Anyone Made Their P/P Work?

P/p is great fun, and can only be used if based on a single target. I love messing around by adding Haste, venoms, along with unload on a condi build with stealing do already condi damage. I also switch to P/D to stealth with stealth and dagger, and switching back to do the single unload with revealing adding more power.

Yes its great fun but very very hard to enjoy when it’s not the best thief weapons.

Did it not occour to you that Reaper is primarily direct damage-based? Having a ton of condi clears doesn’t help as much to prevent their damage.

I’ve played against Reaper’s with other classes and different builds but it just seems that I can’t find a way to go about any of their burst reaper skills completely draining my health on not just one, but several characters with my different builds. Thats all.

I’ve got one move that’s garunteed to work against all Reaper builds: stay further than 600 range away. Reaper’s got nothing he can do then.

Probably will work. Been using a lot of close attacks with Revenant and Thief recently so that might be why. Thanks to the few with kind replys back.

Dodge's are a bit too Slow, + Daredevil Lack?

Hey!

I’ve been trying my best to enjoy the daredevil but I find that some of the dodges I try to perform are a bit too slow. I feel as if I’m playing a ballerina who takes his time to dodge, when I should be doing them quick and swiftly, not slow and steady.

Also, I feel as if the staff itself is weighing my character down. Why? Non of these skills can pop swiftness, and feeling the urge to steal really wastes my burst of might. Should the 3 skill of the staff add at least some element of swiftness? Or maybe a different skill.

My other concern is skill 2 feels as if I turn into a robot. I know I need to loose control of my character in order for me to do that skill but I feel as if its just a little odd, since I just move forward in an odd amount of time.

More damage overall? I’ve talked to a few guildies and they say they’d rather stick to their 10k backstabs then a staff that can’t push out enough damage.

Keep it up Dev Team, really liking where this is going.

:)

As I run a build that clears condi’s, even that can’t stand a Reaper’s shroud skills, my characters just are no match to the pure damage a reaper is doing and I find the reaper being just a little bit too much over powered.

HoT Beta Feedback: Good, Bad, & The Expected

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Working 60 hours with 2 jobs, I’m afraid to say I spent little time playing the Beta, but from what I experienced, here’s what I think.

Good:
-Adding Shiro to Revenant. It now finally feels like a class!

-The first chapter of the story was very different, because I felt like I was making the decisions. If these moments where I get to choose what my team does happen often in the story, it will be wayyy different then the personal story.

-Masteries Take Time: I figured out that I needed to glide in order to get places and already that was a driving point to experience that I need to train up mastery points. Very nice addition that it takes a bit of time to get.

Bad:
-Reaper, just feels slow and not efficient enough to think about switching to a greatsword.

-Few in game bugs during events (E.X: Boss’s health not falling) but I expected that to be in the game.

-Very small new area to explore. I know it’s held up to hold back that expansion experience but I feel as if every time we play the same small area we will just want to rush out in the world because we have already dived and explored that beginning part in the beta’s. However I’m glad your holding back the rest of content for us to see in the future!

-I was slightly confused on some of the events in game. Some enemies health didn’t get bogged down at all even with a large group attacking it, and when I completed these long time events, I found little to no experience for my mastery track.

What I expect in the next beta:
-Testing out the other 5 specializations.
-Exploring hard end game content that was stated/or an example of it.
-Another small part of the story to play?
-Seeing perhaps a different area to play in a new area or totally different map.

What I’m excited for:
-FREAKEN THIEF SPECIALIZATION AH!

-The story and what happened to our beloved characters, such as Destiny’s Edge…..maybe not so much Trahearne (x

-I expect new gear and weapons. I know we aren’t getting too many legendaries, but I’m one to like new armor sets, and weapons that can just be found in game as normal, that are just added from Heart Of Thorns. I know there will be some specific items that will be hard to obtain, but I hope to see normal kind of easy armor and weapon sets that will be dropped by mobs or found through the expansion.

-Seeing more new enemy types appear, as well as different NPC types too!

-Trying out Leagues in PvP!

-Trading. Enough said with that one.

Overall, really impressed with what the team at Arenanet is doing, hopefully we see more (but not all) of what you guys have in store for us in Heart of Thorns!

What your good/bad list of what you saw and experienced in the beta?

Jormag's Breath (Fire)?

The effect on kill should be expanded to all applicable weapons, not just Legendaries.

I’m not quite sure giving the burn enemy affect on every weapon was what I was hoping for. That would be odd. I hope for Jormag’s Breath to have the affect to kill enemy’s with the flame death due to his effect showing 24/7 on the weapon, be in wielded or in player hands.

Well, Jormag’s Breath is an ice sword.

As you can see here It’s not a blue flame, but an icy cloud. And given the hilt looks like Jormag’s mouth, it literally is Jormag’s Breath

Thats a good point! To me it looks as if its HoM’s Fiery Sword (Fire) but a blue version of it. The fact that its a Dragon makes me think its breathing fire, so I still think that Blue Flame isn’t wrong to add.

However, with the perspective of taking it as Ice Breath, should’t there be at least an effect on kills to resemble and show that the fiery effect isn’t being ignored and that your not using a regular sword?

Jormag's Breath (Fire)?

Moodrich.1093

For awhile I played Guild Wars 2 as a thief with The Hall of Monuments skinned sword weapon “Fiery Sword (Fire)” as my weapon for about a year.

As of recently, I ended up switching to Jormag’s Breath for a condition damage set.

I love how it looks and everything except the follow, Wheres the fire?
I would always run around hitting rabbits and killing Moas (shame on me, I know) with the HoM Fiery Sword and a fire effect would come up as the character kill emote. (The way the enemy died when I sent a finishing blow with the sword)

Jormag’s Breath doesn’t actually give that affect to anyone I have killed with it.
Not only do I miss Bandits dancing around in flames once I killed them, but its as if the Fire effect on my sword is being ignored, as if it has no effect (or proves it) when I kill an enemy. This makes me rethink “Was it really worth 94 Gold to have a sword that is totally being ignored by enemy’s to what is actually hitting them? A sword on fire doesn’t make them go up in flames?”

Don’t misunderstand me thinking I’m upset of using my gold this way. I love the weapon, but this minor detail is something I hope gets changed. Thats all!

I believe Jormag’s Breath work this way due to the weapon not being set to an effect tied with the weapon. The HoM skin, Fiery Sword, is named “Fiery Sword (Fire)” where as “Jormag’s Breath” doesn’t have that effect (Fire) tied into it. As a player, I have no idea what causes that fire effect to be applied to deaths on enemies, but I assume the (Fire) written at the end of the weapon determines weather or not the enemy’s death may be different.

I know its a small thing, but little things like these do get noticed and do make a huge impact to me as a player! Some may argue that “Jormag’s Breath has blue flame, thus it doesn’t deserve the flame effect on enemies when killed”, well I know there can be an alternate way by just using the blue flame kill effect (Guardian’s use it).

My request is to hopefully have “Jormag’s Breath” have the (Fire) effect on it, so that when I kill enemies, they breathe their last breath on Tyria while their skin melts as they fall!

Thank you for the read!

ranger or thief?

It all comes down to this.
Daggers, Shortbows, and swords OR
Swords, Greatsword, Longbow, and short bow?

Hooded masks, or Arrow Quivers.

Pet companion, or Stealth?

Start picking at those, see which class you come up with/ want to go for.

Dungeons/instances start at Level 30, 40, etc.

Theres is WvW you can do (Tower button on top left corner) for big raids and massive fights.

Jump to another zone, it seems you completed all of the first zone’s hearts/activities hence your level 17, move on to a nearby zone and you can start doing hearts there.

This game isn’t Anti Social. Head on over to Lions Arch, lots of Guilds hire there, and you can join a community today!

pVp is also something you may wanna try (two swords at top left)

Good luck with your Guild Wars 2 Journey, and just enjoy all new aspects of the game! (:

Hope this made your mood.
