This latest implementation of the living story has, if not soon corrected (doubtful), left me with a stain on my once perfect track record; one that I will not soon forget or forgive. Lazily overpowered (anyone can add x more units and + hp) and repeated content that came about as a “fix” after the fact leaves a really bad aftertaste. Not to mention the rate at which these events cycle there is no reasonable way to comfortably attempt it. We didn’t all roll the golden boy classes (for those that say they can solo it), unfortunately.

The fast pace of it all will produce burnout sooner rather than later. I for one am beginning to feel worn out by it all; crushing failure is not a good motivator either, lol. Also, is it just me or the “kill 10 rats” achievements have been increasing in size over each release? As far as time required is concerned at least. 2,500 points anyone?

Why Skin Wardrobe should be a high-priority

People still need the right stat combinations, so it’s not right to say that nobody will ever need new armor. I can’t pretend to know how many people spend any money or gold on transmute stones past their first set of armor, I know there must be people actually willing to do that, but how many, really?

You can even prepare your first skin set with in-game rewarded transmute stones through the story, so it’s unlikely they’re actually making money from all players (guilty). Once a person has that one set they wanted on each character, is there really any drive to get any other skin? A piece or another might change, but is that it?

I couldn’t agree more with you. The problem with skin buildup is something that will soon reach critical mass. I haven’t changed my look since the moment I completed my first one, several months ago. Why? A new look involves sacrificing something I already worked for, either by losing multiple precious bank slots or the item itself (either stat or skin).

The problem is exacerbated with each living story where they keep pumping out multiple skins; which is fantastic as far as choices are concerned, but with the current system pose a problem with collecting them or using them freely, seeing as each time you change your look is a cumulative monetary loss. Perhaps their intention is that we are eventually forced to delete skins we aren’t wearing? In truth, it doesn’t seem like they want us to collect anything, this is true for skins, dyes (char bound), and prohibitive minis.

The beach strips you down to underwear, not the beach outfit. Even if it did, it’d be ideal to be able to use it elsewhere… There’s another thread discussing this already. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/southsun/Consortium-Swimwear-GemStore/

OP isn’t asking about people putting low sell orders. He’s asking about people putting low BUY orders, so this clearly has nothing to do with freeing up inventory space at a crucial moment. I also don’t know why people do this, as they’re clearly just losing the listing fee on an order that can never be fulfilled given the TP forced limit on vendor price. I don’t know why it allows it to be listed to begin with, but I guess it does delete some money from the economy anyway.

As was said in another thread similar to this one, you shouldn’t dismiss the fact that the Wintersday gem skins were quite unappealing in comparison to the RNG ones.

Edit: Beat to it, lol.

Obviously neither of us have the supporting data, but I would bet that the total money received would be greater if they gave a definite skin at a low price. My guesses would be something more along the lines of for every 1 person spending $100 now you would have 100 spending $5 on a $5 skin that is guaranteed.

That might be possible, yes. But again, would you be surprised if I told you that some people will dare go to the thousands of dollars for it? Not the same, is it? In any case, this is just what I think is the most likely reason for them to stick with their current approach.

I agree with you, but I feel no sympathy for your story. ANet clearly stated that the items were a rare chance. Previous content definitely suggested that spending a lot of money != getting what you want. Finally there were PSA about not doing this very thing.

However, I agree that these skins should be directly purchasable, and not in chests. Spend a few dollars and get the skin you want. If it worked like that, waaaay more people would do it. It’d be happier for players and increased revenue for ANet. This system hurts both, and I am unsure why they continue to use it.

They continue to use it because as it is, 1 person will spend 100$ gambling to MAYBE get a skin, as opposed to say 5 people paying 10$ to get it for sure. As a conservative example, of course.

The principle is the same though. You’ve seen what appears to be the ending so far, not what’s happened in between. The Skyrim example is what happens when you already know the progression of the story itself, and has little to do with the ending itself. This is what happens when you read a book twice, not when you flip to the last page from the get-go. The same is true for a dungeon you run multiple times, not if you kill the final boss and then go back to the beginning of the dungeon.

Look at it like this, everybody knew that we’d have to kill Zhaitan in the last dungeon, it’s obvious from the beginning, but that doesn’t mean the whole personal story was ruined. How is this any different?

I really hope it’s just a matter of content they haven’t added yet, and not that they won’t. Even though I feel that town clothes in their current incarnation are incredibly off-putting to own -storage hogs, no speed in town, need to remember to change, 1-character at a time. Even with ALL that, these would likely…

If it’s any consolation, as far as movies are concerned it’s been proven that, contrary to people’s repeated complaints, they subconsciously get more enjoyment from them with spoilers given before-hand. Perhaps the same can be applied here? The idea is to enjoy the story as a whole, since you’re less worried about what the ending might be. Basically, what LanfearShadowflame.3189 said.

why are you so slow with patch's/content?

…….
When you upgraded to 110 slots did you buy specific types of bags? There are bags with all sort of functionality and compacting follows the rules of the bags. If you are using all standard bags then I would report that as a bug, though not one I have experienced.

This is exactly what I was going to point out. Invisible bags in particular completely prevent you from depositing any collectible in that bag, and if all of them are invisible…

As far as slow patching goes, I don’t really agree. I admit that there are still several things that need to be fixed, and certain things that are a bit iffy, but I’m quite pleased with how things are coming along so far. Developing things isn’t as easy as some people like to make it out to be, and from the many f2p(b2p isn’t much of a distinction here) games I’ve played so far, this has been the most frequently updated. Though my easygoing perspective may be because I still feel that I have many things left to do.

During the last few rounds of patches I’d slowly began to develop doubts about going on with my ele. As it is, the class is an uphill struggle, that is not to say that I don’t enjoy the complexity and difficulty, it’s really quite fun, but that the reward for it just isn’t apparent, if it is actually there. There is nothing more depressing than spending over half a minute killing a mob in Orr, dropping down all kinds of CC’s, dps and combos (oh wait…) and then see a warrior walk up beside you and kill the same mob in two or three swings. It’s heart-breaking, I felt (un)intentionally mocked. Either way, at this point, I’m not sure I can convince myself anymore that things will improve any time soon.

Though I did and do sometimes experiment using d/d and s/d, it somehow never quite sits right with my preferences; not to mention that I’d feel silly on top of a wall in WvW while wielding them. The fact that battle mode can linger forever under certain circumstances (preventing weapon swap) unless the target dies or you run out of screen range doesn’t help in that case. Given the timing of this patch, I’ll likely complete my monthly with my ele and participate in the one-off event since it’s my only level 80 char, but after that, I believe I’ll be dabbling with my alts for a change. A breath of fresh air, perhaps.

Ele downed state

in Elementalist

Posted by: Morten.5387

Has no one else noticed that the downed mist form actually increases your downed penalty, and you can actually be defeated when it wears off if you happen to survive long enough? If you’re nearly fully healed when you hit it, when it wears off your health will be less than it was when you first entered the downed state. Speeding up the recharge on it would simply mean elementalists die that much faster on their own.

Yeah I have noticed this, in fact I have even died from it, as you well point out. At the time it was quite the surprise, lol. Regarding the ele’s downed state, I have played an ele up to 80 and gotten quite used to its play style. That is, dexterously kiting while carefully timing every skill in every attunement and then kiting until those skills come off cooldown to keep the fight going.

When this failed, naturally came the downed state, at which point I would reluctantly try to stay alive, but inside I knew my chances were nonexistent if the mob’s health wasn’t already down to a sliver, or someone wasn’t around. Skill 3 aside, for the reasons you mention, I’ve yet to find a real use for skill 2, every mob is always up close, and its cast time is so slow they will be if they aren’t already, this is more true in Orr where Risen run like athletes on steroids; that or they are ranged mobs. Skill 1 is too slow for too little damage. However, after playing a Mesmer alt last night, and getting downed, and successfully rallying while fighting a group of mobs, I was in disbelief. I’d gotten so used to dying after getting downed as an ele, that I was giddy about how this “rallying” thing was happening so easily.
