Thanks for all the feedback guys. Just trying to get back into the game and catch up on everything I have missed in the past year or so. It sounds like the block to conditions being viable is the condition cap at the moment (though the time to build up damage may be a problem as well). Hopefully something can be done about that to make conditions better, as I love playing that build with the staff. I will keep my condition damage gear + staff around just in case.
Thanks again!
So that was it ASP! I just tried it again. Works fine outside on some deer with the swapping. Come back into the golems in mist and it does not work.
Open up my pvp build screen (which I just now realize exists) and see some other runes on my gear that I did not put on there (maybe they came with the weapons?).
So then I guess the question is…how is my staff/sword+focus combo procing battle when I Swap, but not my sword+focus/sword+pistol?
Just to confirm (not trying to be condescending, just want to avoid a lot of headache):
Testing in Heart of the Mists, you are setting these in your PvP build, not your normal equipment screen, right?
Good question: Did not know there were separate equipment screens for that.
However: I think whichever way I did it, was the proper way, since I Can get battle to proc when using Staff/Sword+focus. But it will not proc when using Sword+focus/Sword+pistol (with battle in both pistol and focus)
I was actually testing out on the golems in mists.
On the indestructible ones.
I will test my first scenario again (the top one with battle on both weapon set offhands), but I Was definitely in combat, and I was definitely not seeing that proc come up when I swapped.
Having some problems with my sigils and I think it is some core mechanic of them that I a missing.
I originally tried:
WS1 MH : Bloodlust
WS1OH : Battle
WS2 MH : Force
WS2 OH : Battle
That stopped proc’ing battle.
So I went back to using staff in the one hand with bloodlust/battle in the other…battle started proc’ing on switch.
Now I have gone to:
WS1 MH : Bloodlust
WS1 OH : Battle
WS2 MH : Force
WS2 OH : Force
No procs on battle during the swap.
Am I missing something inherent about the sigils?
I am coming back to the game after a year or more and looking to play my Mesmer. I have always liked the Staff for the mesmer and before I left I (apparently) had a full suit of Rampager things, so I am starting to remember liking condition damage.
I have read through the guides posted here a few times, and the consensus seems to be “If you are doing pve, take a sword or be worthless”. I also see that the guides are roughly 1+year old at this point. I am wondering if anything has changed since then? Have their been changes to condition dmg that would make the staff viable in dungeon/fractals (I am mostly interested in pve). I am not a huge fan of melee mesmer.
Along with that, if I was to invest in staff/condition dmg pve’ing, is rampager the way to go? I read something somewhere about not really needing to stack of condition dmg gear.
When I was fooling around on the golems today it looked like I was getting some reasonable damage out of my current build with the iLocks up. I am hoping there has been a change recently (since I have been gone) that has made it better now a days.
Thank you for any input you can provide. I have been looking around the forums/sites all day trying to find a solid answer. All I have seen is “lol use a sword”. Hoping that is not necessarily the case.

FAQ:
Another guild huh?
Haptic was recently formed by two close friends. We’ve been playing Guild Wars 2 since beta. Prior to that we ran a WoW raiding guild together that formed in 2008. We’ve been pubbing around since we started playing, but have been unable to find the type of community we’re looking for, so have decided to try to build it from the ground up.
What kind of people are you looking for?
Ideally we’re just looking for like-minded people who enjoy the game. We’re very easy going, so you don’t need to mirror our likes and tastes. We don’t treat gaming like a job, and play to unwind after a busy day. The best fit would be working adults who enjoy forum posting while out of game — talking GW2 shop as well as about other games, movies, etc. We have only two rules: 1. No racism. 2. No homophobic talk. In short, be excellent to each other.
Ok, sounds good. What do I need to do?
If you are interested in joining the guild stop by our website and fill out an application. http://hapticguild.com/
Application? Who do you think you are some kind of pr0 e-sport e-raiding clan?
The application is the first impression we have about you and the only way for us to judge whether or not you will fit in our group. It’s as much as a chance for you to evaluate us, and to make sure you’d enjoy hanging out with us. We’re looking for like-minded people over excellent gw2-players, so just be yourself.
Hold on a second, this looks like a really new guild? Why should I even waste my time if you’re gonna be gone in a month?
We agree that’s a valid concern. In the end all that we can ask is for people who are looking to build a community with us. We’re looking to form friendships, not just add numbers to a guild panel. You won’t see us shout recruitment all over Lion’s Arch or just shoot random unguilded people invites. That doesn’t mean we won’t work to keep new blood coming into the guild, but we care more about who is behind the character than just piling people in.

Monday Bump!
Come apply to the guild. Plenty of forum chatter to distract you from “working” while at work, and always guild events going on during the evenings (and day time). Whether it be dungeon runs, WvW, alt leveling, or just farming…something for everyone to do in [Lion]
Can someone help me out with how a few guildies of mine received the karka chest mail, without even logging in that weekend? Whereas I played the opening event, did some of the second event, missed the finale…and get no mail?
Was there some glitch that sent chests out to random people? Was the script broken?
I saw the survey and a few other posts about the box but I am just trying to understand if it’s a bug on Anet’s part or what.
I attended the first two days, wasn’t able to attend the last. Have not received mail.
Couple of guildies did not attend at all on the weekend, did not log in at all. Receive the mail.
While I understand that I did not attend the final event and, whether I like it or not, therefore I did not get loot. I am trying to understand why I did not receive the karka box in the mail, but other guildies who did not even login for the event, were given the loot.
Is that a bug on Anet side? Should I be expecting a box at some point?
Thanks
