Running Guild Wars 2 at max settings.

So I just returned to the game, I want to complete the map but I get bored every time I try to.

Yesterday I saw a video of GW2 running at max settings, and it looked wonderful. I think it will be easier to get stuck to the game if I can make my game look like that.

I’m running gw2 at min. settings, for sake of FPS. (I like wvw too, in high settings is impossible to play).

My PC.
Processor/CPU: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo CPU E7300 @ 2.66 Hz (2CPUs)
GPU: AMD Radeon R7 200 Series 2GB DDR3 ->http://www.gigabyte.com/fileupload/product/3/4794/9016_big.jpg
RAM: 5 Gb DDR1
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
OS: Windows 8 64bits
Resolution I use (Max in the monitor ) 1680×1050

It’s an old Desktop HP Pavilion but with the years I bought 1 more gb of RAM and changed the GPU to the Radeon R7

At min graphic settings, I run the game at (approx) 25-30 FPS.
At max graphic settings, I run the game at (approx) 8-11 FPS.
(In a city like Lion’s Arch, I didn’t try it at wvw)

So, what do you guys think? Where is the main weakness? I feel like it’s the RAM, it’s not a bad quantity of gb but it really is very slow.

Should I buy new RAM, faster one?

What should I upgrade in my pc?

Thanks for any single answer you give to me, even if it’s : " this computer s_cks " I’ll apreciate.

Sorry for the long post (and the bad english), here is your link to a potato

For future reference it’s actually a good idea to unlock new pets whenever you get the opportunity.

Different pets have different stats and abilities which means they’re suited to different situations. For example bears and birds are pretty much opposites – bears have a lot of health and armour which makes them good tanks. Whereas birds have low health and armour but higher power and precision so they do more damage and can apply conditions with their abilities.

You may not want to use a particular pet right away, you might even think you’re not going to use them at all but if you tame them at least you have the option to simply switch to them instead of having to find out where they spawn and run all the way out there to get them.

And in some situations knowing what pet/s to choose and switching to them as needed can make a big difference.

Yeah, after I could change again my pet, I saw they had different stats, so … well, gotta catch’em all!
Thanks for the free teaching mate

Yes, the problem is that until lvl 5 I can’t open “Pet management” menu, so I was so confused

The funny thing is .. we could do that at level 1 in the original version, but then ANet
thought it was too confusing for new players ..

Btw.: directly in Hoelbrak you can also get a Wolf, Raven and Snow Leopard near
the Buildings that have them in their name, and there is an Ice Bear at the frozen
Lake.

It was too confusing … oh, THE IRONY

WoW, thanks man, I just arrived to Hoelbrak, I’ll check it out . Thanks!

This made me giggle

U can change all U want between the pets U find around the world. If U press on the picture of your current pet, “pet management”, U can then press on the arrow above your pet picture and change between the ones U got. (if U only got 2, U can prob press f4)

Ofc, I dont know if these options are not available to U at a low level after the new player experience system, then I guess U might have to wait.

Well, at least you had a good time! haha :P

Problem solved, thank you

Here’s the wiki article about Pets – http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Pet

Short answer – Rangers have 2 terrestrial and 2 aquatic pets that you can swap between. Pet management is unlocked at level 5.

You just save my life, Pet management is unlocked at level 5, that’s why I couldn’t do anything.

Lots of thanks, my friend.

OP is probably low level and doesn’t have pet swap yet. I don’t know if there is a way to get around it at the low level. Even going to PvP and resetting pets won’t make the original switch back in PvE. He’ll just have to level high enough to unlock pet swap.

Edit: He can try the k key and see if that shows the pet panel. If so he should be able to switch the pets there.

Yeah, that’s it, apparently until lvl 5 I can’t open pet management, that’s what was so confusing to me. Thanks!

So, I left the game for some months, and I was already a noob back then, you imagine now…

I just created a Norn Ranger (or is it hunter?). I chose bear as animal companion and started my adventure.

In one of the first missions, where you have to take crow’s eggs and put them into their nests, I missclicked something and “accepted” to change my bear for a crow.

Idk if this changes any stat from the animal, but I don’t really care, I want my bear back.
How can I do this? Is it possible or I’ll have to create a new character?

Thanks to everybody that answers and be kind, it’s my first post in this forum also, sorry for the bad english.

See ya! Thanks
