You know whats awesome? Almost capturing a keep while undermanned, only to have JQ be a bro and defend the HoD garrison.
Theres a difference. HoD insults are playful banter at best, the insults coming from other servers are pretty much hate filled and degrading indicating that players are worthless.
It’s easy to be a good sport when you’re winning.
Guardian is the best “Jack of All Trades”. How are you having problems? What is your spec?
Engineer, like Mesmer, has some class-specific problems that contribute to their poor performance in certain situations.
A lot of people seem to underestimate Take Root’s ability to deal damage. While the individual seedlings aren’t very strong, each one of them puts on one stack of bleed. When they’re focused on a single target, these add up quickly to a lot of damage. I generally drop them vs those big bosses, especially those with a lot of natural regen.
Take Root’s invulnerability is great as well. Used correctly, you can dodge a lot of damage as well as bridge the time to your next heal. It’s also really good in dungeons against enemies with big windup attacks. If you can’t get out of the area for whatever reason, casting Take Root nullifies all effects of the attack.
Take Root has the same problem Engineer turrets have:
They don’t scale with gear.
They have low health.
You can’t control what they target.
It’d be nice if they gave it back to us, there is little visible difference between Sylvari and Human’s once they’re enclosed in armour.
Sylvari cannot be corrupted by the Dragons, they simply die and rot away if they’re infected by it. That doesn’t sound like something an Elder dragon would want in his minions, I do suspect Sylvari emergence is linked to the Dragons. I like the idea of Tyria creating natural defenders, and hope they don’t deviate from that.

People seem to think the Engineer is a long range offensive class, when they’re more of a mid-range defense class. If you’re having trouble in PvP, try altering your play style.
The grenade tool kit goes a long way towards carrying the class in WvW, and a tanky-healy trait allocation will allow you to survive all but the most brutal of focus fire.
The mortar is also incredibly useful for attacking entrenched enemies, or simply holding off a large force at choke points. A well positioned Mortar barrage can make or break a defensive position.
yeah engineer is so bad, is that why you see one in every competetive spvp team? is that why my engineer 3 shots 3+ people at once from 1500 range in WvW, is that why i 3 shot packs of mobs with a bomb spec, dont see any of my other bretheron doing such things on there rangers and guardians
maybe its just that this class takes alot of skill to play, isent a dodo brain class like the warrior or guardian, and actually requires you to be more than a monkey hiting buttons on a keyboard randomly
the only problem i have is with clunky rifle abilities and abilities that miss if someone isent standing directly infront of you and you decide to strafe at the last minute and you get “miss”
Ah yes, the “you suck if you disagree with me” argument, very helpful. Even with a glass cannon build, and decent gear, you shouldn’t be “3 shotting 3+ people” unless you’re fighting naked level-matched players.
I will, however, agree that the buggy ranged abilities being obstructed by seemingly nothing is quite annoying.
