My boyfriend’s account appears to have been hacked and his account’s email address was changed without his notification or permission. He uses Gmail which shows no unauthorized activity on that account and changes his password regularly. You have a whole security team and people are still getting accounts stolen without being given a chance to do anything about it.

Here is a solution: require a change in email address to take one week to take effect. Notify players of the pending change at every opportunity (via both email and launcher) and give them every opportunity to cancel the operation during that time with a single mouse click.

Now when an account is compromised, hackers cannot remove access to it. A simple password reset will easily give the original owner access again. To prevent a back and forth password reset battle between a hacker and account owner, give players the ability to flag their own account as compromised by logging into it on the Guild Wars 2 website. Doing so locks the account out of the game entirely until it is cleared by support.

No matter how careful players are, they are human and will make mistakes that can lead to an account being compromised, but there are things that can be done to make accounts very much harder to steal.

Why not just make the timer more lenient? Having to hold the W key the entire time you do this puzzle is the only thing that makes it so obnoxious. If there was even 5 seconds of breathing room it would be a lot nicer.

No Real Reason to WvW? Try “Because it’s fun.” That’s the same reason play most games in the universe.

Lack of Community Building? I don’t see it. I server hopped for a while. Even at just a glance I noticed great, budding communities on many servers.

Too Hard to Kill People? I kill people all the time, both in group fights and solo. Sometimes the loser escapes death. Sometimes they don’t. The balance here is just right.

As for your concluding minor issues, they are either differences in taste or problems that will be resolved.

I also find it quite ironic that you complain about there being too much deception coming from a game where there were entire packs of people who were permanently invisible.

And please please please please no realm ranks. For the love of all that is beautiful in the universe, please not this. I will cut off my toe and mail it to Arena.net if that’s what it takes to avoid this kind of garbage in GW2.

After reaching level 80 on my thief, I’ve finally come to the horrible realization that there are no other medium armor hoods than the one I started with. I didn’t pay attention because I was having fun, but now that I’m at the point where I’m thinking about my character’s appearance. Obviously rerolling at this point is out of the question, and ArenaNet didn’t make it at all clear that the starter item was actually completely unique in its appearance. I’m very disappointed and would like for some way to get that piece of gear back on my thief.

Email authentication was not working correctly at launch, resulting in many players being unable to verify their login. One of my friends was hacked without the hacker being required to verify the login, even though he thought he had this two-factor authentication in place. His email account was not breached according to Google’s list of recent logins.

Players need better access to information about their account security. How can we confirm that our account is verified? How can we see which access points are verified and revoke access? “Current Logins” is sparse and uninformative. If a third of players haven’t verified their email addresses yet, I’m going to bet it’s because a large percentage either think it is verified, because they aren’t being prompted (with annoying frequency!) to verify it, or because they do not know about it or how to access it.

Oh please, please, please, not “Alternate Advancement.” Please not that. Anything but that. You should go grind AAs in another game. We already have 80 levels instead of 20 (or 0), and you continue to earn XP at level 80 for skill points which can be spent on things.

Meanwhile, I’m playing WvW because it’s fun.

I guess Counter-Strike and StarCraft II are complete wastes of time because you don’t earn or unlock anything.

Gail, there is no mandatory confirmation for changing the account email being sent to the ORIGINAL email address, which means accounts can be stolen without the hackers having access to the email address the account is tied to. This is a serious oversight.

I agree that there needs to be more ways for “defeated” servers to feel like they have a chance to get back into the game. It’s hard to think of fair ways to do this, but reducing or removing repair costs when killed by an enemy player would definitely help combat the discouragement.

Armor doesn’t take damage when you jump off a cliff and die right now, so I’ll often use that as a weird “out” if I’m obviously about to get overwhelmed by a huge zerg.

This happened to my friend the other day. I’m the biggest GW2 fanboy but Arena.net’s security is the absolute worst I’ve ever seen.

Email authentication was down at release and isn’t helping because of the terrible flaw mentioned in the OP.

Passwords can’t be reset… but the entire account email can be changed. Really? That’s a massive oversight that as far as I’m aware of has not been fixed, even before talking about the confirmation system.

There’s no phone support, even for hacked accounts, so it takes many days of slow back-and-forth messaging between service staff and customers to get anything resolved.

I got a lot of friends excited about this game and a couple have been hacked, though in both cases those hacks probably would have been defeated by more competent security precautions on Arena.net’s part.

My small guild is missing. One guild officer reports that it exists and they are the only listed member. I myself was the creator and leader of the guild. We were going to get the Guild Stash today too. :<
