Gaslov, that would help in stabilizing a capping method although I would still not like the increase in que time :\ Ques are already a nightmare at times on SBI but I understand the benefit to having a cap as well. Oh well I guess we just wait and see on what Arenanet plans to do or if they will have to do anything. I’m assuming they will be able to match up servers pretty well once everything settles down. Interesting point though.

Still interested to see what someone thinks WvW would be like using my “radical” idea lol.

I’m not complaining, I just wanted to read a few ideas, like I said I find this whole topic interesting. I 100% agree with letting the game play out. In my opinion it will work in the end. I have no grudge against the current system. I’m only analyzing other ideas. :\

I did type this up kinda quick, sorry if comes off like I’m complaining. I really was just interested in what people think about the whole situation.

Dynamic population limit.

The current system in place could just need more time to seem balanced on every server. Currently in our SBI, HoD, JQ matchup it seems to be working quite well. I really do not like the idea of the dynamic capping system. It essentially just decreases the amount of players in WvW and increases que times. Which… on SBI are a little high at times.

Yeah like I said the system in place now could still work but I’d still like to hear other opinions and discussions. For some reason I’m very interested in this topic lol.

Edit and it hasn’t seem to hurt us much on Stormbluff Isle so I have no real grudge just trying to have some discussion.

I’ve been reading a lot of scattered complaints on various sites about how the current population distribution within WvW is handled. I did some thinking and wanted to hear more on the subject.

(As I understand it) Current Method-

I have no real grudge against the current state. In fact I think it will probably balance out and it is the best choice for the game. At the moment the only restriction is a population cap. Let’s say the population cap is at 100 per server. In the current system numbers such as these could appear at anytime during a WvW match, Server A 50/100, Server B 95/100, and lastly Server C 43/100. These numbers are clearly messed up at that time. However, every server has its peak times and down times so in theory A and C will have their turn at some point. This is not always the case. B could be at 50/100 but A and C could end up in a stalemate at 87 to 90 players. They would fight to no gain and B would eventually own all during their unopposed peak time. There are a million other factors one could come up with when looking at the system. So the system works in a perfect world however this is not a perfect world. Things might even out as they go on or they might not.

Dynamic Capping Method-

This is another idea that simply sounds good but would not apply to the game very well. The main idea behind this method is that there will always be an equal or similar amount of players. This sounds good right or does it? Let’s say Server A, B, and C have 100/100. All three decline, the new numbers end up being A: 80/100, B: 70/100, C: 55/100. C is once again still at a disadvantage. And since A and B are still at high populations no new players can join significantly increasing que time. Further on there is a major Decline. Now all three servers have 20 people. Neither server can acquire more people because it’s capped to stay equal. Que times are hugely increased once more. It would also take much longer to reach max population on all 3 servers. So once again the idea has its benefits but even more negatives. I personally do not like this idea.

Little radical idea of mine-

What if it were possible to have the worlds filled on every server without actually having to have any players even being around? Sounds like crazy talk at first but I think this idea is pretty practical. Some people on here may have played the Star Wars Battlefront games in the past. Remember how each side was equal in the massively scaled battles? This is because of the use of Npcs. Some of you might groan at the fact of adding npcs but what if they were made viable to command and control. So lets go back to servers A, B, C all 3 are now capped due to AI players. It’s during peak time for B so 100/100 of the players are alive not Npcs. A and C however, will still be at 100/100 even though only about 50% are actually human players. I really believe that if this were to work it would really help balance the worlds and make battles more interesting. There are no disadvantages that I can see other than the AI might be terrible, but I think terrible is a lot better than being outnumbered 2 to 1. At least with this it would be more like 2 to 1.4.

Really though, what other ideas do you guys have to help A, B, and C be balanced? And what do you think of my radical idea that will probably never happen? lol

(Stormbluff Isle) Pvx Guild "East Coast Enclave" is recruiting!

Hi!

Welcome to the recruitment thread for the East Coast Enclave! This is a relatively new guild on the Stormbluff Isle server, so I posted on here to help get some attention. I’ve been having some success recruiting from map chat and figured a forum post might aid in developing the guild I’d like to see someday.

We will be a casual guild with a main focus on Chat, PvE, and WvW. My time zone is EST but I welcome all timezones into the guild. As guild leader I will try to create a good environment that all players will enjoy. It’s been one of my goals to have my own clan or guild in a game and I really hope it does not fail.

At the moment there are only 5 members but considering as I wrote this post the guild was only 3 hours old I’d say its going good.

I could use all the help I can get in creating a successful guild so please join

Please respond here or message me on this site for more details on how to get you into the guild! If easier you can also use my guild email Eastcoastenclave@gmail.com

Thanks for considering the East Coast Enclave!

Quick Overview:
Home Server: Stormbluff Isle
Focus: Casual Pvx with some emphasis on WvW
Member Goal: More than 15
Community goal: Friendly and helpful
Contact: This site’s messaging, https://twitter.com/EC_Enclave , or the other 2 I listed in the QA.
Requirements: Nothing strict but being active would help!

Questions and Answers-

I will add questions and answers here.

Q: Is the name of the guild relative to the Fallout series?

A: Yes the name is a play on the Enclave faction from Fallout 3

Q: How do the ranks work?

A: Ranks go in descending order starting with President, Vice President, Enclave General, Enclave Captain, Enclave Soldier, Enclave Recruit. As for how the ranks will be assigned, they will at first be appointed but will switch to an election system if the guild expands.

Q: Are there any requirements?

A: There will be no strict requirements although I do wish to have an active player base. It is possible that there will be a formal application in the future but at this point it would only hurt my chances of success.

Q: Will you be in charge of WvW or will command be split among the ranks?

A: I really like WvW but I’m not sure if If I can command. The general ranks will be in charge of WvW and will be appointed/elected based on their experience, strategies, and intelligence. Captains will also aid in keeping order during PvP.

Q: Are you on other sites?

A: I’m on the Storm Bluff Isle Community site- http://Stormbluffisle.com. My user name on there is also Mr X. I have also made a guild page on http://www.Gw2guilds.org. I made a Twitter account for the guild as well. EC_Enclave is the user.

Q: Will this guild have a website?

A: If this guild exceeds my expectations by a lot and grows large enough I may create a free forum for us just to let you know I am willing to do such things. I am not willing to host a website although if someone who joins is able to, we end up a large guild, and there is a potential reason to having a website I will allow creation of a guild website in that case only. Also they would be given a special rank.
