Ahhh I see. Glad we finally came to a set conclusion to the mystery of Norn relations, haha. Thanks Moonyeti and Konig Des Todes for clearing that up for me!

Norn Relationships?

I realize this thread was discussed 4 years ago, but I’m rather surprised no one mentioned Eir Stegalkin’s relationship with Borje the Sunchaser (unless that relationship was written into GW2 after this discussion took place ( I only recently started playing GW2)), since one of the key points of this discussion is that Norn’s pick their mates based on each other’s social status (their legend) is pretty much universally established here. In Borje’s wiki, it says he is the husband of Eir Stegalkin and father of Braham, and that he “was once a legendary hero”. Since Eir Stegalkin was also a legendary hero, that only increases the likelihood that Norns pick their mates based on social status. But when it comes to children, however, the story of Braham obviously makes that discussion evermore vague. How did Borje have possession of Braham as a baby and Eir not have much involvement in his life? Did he like, take Braham from Eir after labor so that she would not have to raise Braham while continuing her heroic path? If Norns are so bent on keeping each other’s social statues equal while in a relationship, then Borje would not have just simply settled down in Cragstead with Braham, and let himself die without telling Eir just so she could become a hero. Was Eir not a hero at the time they met, and that’s why Borje wanted Eir to focus on her building her heroic path? Very puzzling!

I’m terrible at Socratic discussions but I love them so I just wanted to add Eir’s and Borje’s backround as another example for these discussions.

There’s 518 dyes in the game. You get a starter set at character creation and after that you buy or craft any others. The gear you get will have a standard, basic dye job. You’re supposed to dye it to your satisfaction after you get it.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dye

Ah, I see. Is there a way to find out which specific dyes are on the preview outfit? For example, is there a way to find out which blue dye is on the Armageddon outfit? Because I’d really like to use those colors for it.

I don’t know. Sorry. I don’t think it’s a standard thing. Those pictures in wiki are often submitted by other players or fan sites and the colors chosen are what the fansite or player choose that they think looks good or that shows what the different dye channels cover. Maybe someone else can post and say what the colors in the pictures are.

What you can do is go to your dye panel, use the option to have the dyes arranged by color (the gear icon on top right of the dye panel) and then try out the different dyes on your armor. You can see what the different dyes look like even if you don’t own the dyes. They simply won’t actually allow you to accept the final stage.

Alrighty. I appreciate all of your help!

Hello, newbie player here. I recently bought some items from this set: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Armageddon_armor#Set_pieces and was wondering why when I put it on, the colors were very dull. I believe the dye is Olive Silk. How come the colors aren’t as they’re shown (a metallic blue)? Do I have to unlock a specific dye and then apply it in order for it to have the colors that it shows? I think that’s pretty unfair if that’s the case. I spent over 100,000 karma on it and it gives me dull colors…

As already mentioned, make sure your gear is, atleast fairly ok. I made a build with cheap armor/weapons/runes. Notice that its a solo player build. As a warrior, you will be expected to bring certain things if you do group content, like dungeons. Thats build nr. 2

Solo: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vJAQFARjMdQfHW3BWeAnIGKCqbM6gk3GgHIA0uo1zCA-TRCBABA8AAkQJIEXAAH3HwIlfRugAOq/47CBpoDAA-e

notice its the same gear. Just different skills and traits.
I kept the runes cheap. But as you get better and want better stuff, going 6 superior runes and not the major will also give you a good dmg boost

Even with this, you will get almust 2400 power though. And even more importent, close to 60% crit chance, and 204% crit dmg.

In total this will prob make you do about 10 times the dmg you do now

Thanks a lot for your help! But the links just send me to the basic build editor, aha. Do you know of any easy way to get karma and gold? I know events are a way to easily get karma, but how about gold? So I can actually buy all of these things.

Jewelry is the 6 items below your stats in the equipment panel. There is a backpiece, 2 rings, an amulet, and 2 accessories.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Temple_armor

The cavalier’s, soldier’s and berserker’s stuff is all power damage-focused. Berserker’s is the one focused entirely on damage.

Another longer term option you have is doing dungeons. Each time you do a dungeon, you get some tokens, and you can trade them in for exotic weapons and armor.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dungeon_merchant

The Citadel of Flame path one is really fast (like 20 minutes on a terrible group) and pretty easy even for newbies. Nicely, it also rewards you with berserker stat items.
gw2dungeons.net explains how to do all the dungeons.

Thanks so much. I appreciate all of the help and information. I’ll follow your suggestions the best I can!

I am wearing exotic armor, but they’re just obtained from missions/leveling.

Make sure your jewelry is up to snuff as well.

A well geared level 80 character may have a power attribute (on the upper right side of the equipment tab where your stats are listed) well over 2000, even pushing 3000. I’m guessing yours is like… 1000? You need to up the power stat, and after that ferocity and precision.

I’m not sure what jewelry is.
And yes my power’s only around 1000. Do you have any recommendations on armor or karma merchants that I could buy from?

Your damage is the accumulation of all your gear, and based on your tanky low-quality greatsword (it’s masterwork rather than rare or exotic), all of your gear is really bad.

There are a lot of ways to gear up for endgame exotics, but you can do a quick check at all the karma merchants for better gear (make sure it’s all at least level 80) and you can also buy level 80 stuff of the trading post.

Next, the cleric’s stat is a tanky one. If you want more damage, aim for power, precision, and ferocity (since you’re presumably not playing a condition damage based greatsword warrior.) This may make you less durable than your used to, but if you upgrade all your gear I suspect you’re actually going to be a lot more durable, plus fights will end sooner.

Finally, the traits you’ve chosen and the utilities you’ve assigned should work with your build. For example, you may want the trait Forceful Greatsword which will right off the bat increase your damage well over 10% if you don’t have it. You can use other people’s builds as a base at metabattle.com if you want, or just making your own should get you through the story.

This all sounds really helpful, I’ll try out all of it. Thanks!

This may be helpful: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Marching_Orders

You might, also, consider upgrading your weapon or Sigils (and Armor, perhaps, no idea what you are wearing; Exotic, hopefully). Major Sigils are inexpensive.

Good luck.

That wiki page tells me what to do in the mission, but I already know how to perform the mission. I just can’t kill any enemies.
I am wearing exotic armor, but they’re just obtained from missions/leveling. I didn’t craft them. I’ll try different sigils, but why should I upgrade my weapon/how do I? My weapon strength is really high already, at least I believe 810 is high.

Hey, I’m fairly new to the game but recently got to lvl 80. This issue, I’ve noticed, has been in place a little bit before or after I reached lvl 80. Currently I’m trying to do the Marching Orders mission under the Victory or Death story part, but I cannot beat it because I do around 1 damage to the giants. I watched another player’s playthrough of the mission and they do half its health in 5 seconds. So what the heck is going on?? My weapon, Cleric’s Iron Greatsword of Blood, supposedly has 810-906 weapon strength. I also have Minor Sigil of Blood and Minor Sigil of Hobbling on it. Again, I’m a new player, so if this weapon and these sigils are stupid, go ahead and roast me. But why do I do so little damage? What am I doing wrong? I tried looking all over for anyone that went through a similar issue but found nothing…
