I think I may have figured it out on my end. I never thought it was my hardware, but it appears that my RAM is the culprit.
I took out two sticks of it and tried the downloader again. I got blue screened faster than I did with all my RAM in. So I picked one of the sticks and swapped it with one that I had just taken out. Launched the downloader again and around the same timeframe as the other I got blue screened. I swapped out the other stick and now my download is going farther than it has before.
Even though I ran the Windows Memory Diagnostic and it came back fine, it just has to be my RAM. I got it in late July from either Newegg or Tigerdirect, so I hopefully have a warranty on it still. Makes me pretty mad though, I spent 120 bucks on that 16GB set and in less than 2 months is poops out on me. Let’s hope that my Corsair power supply doesn’t crap out on me too. I’d hate to go through that situation again.
I don’t know if this will help you guys out or not, but just try removing/swapping out your RAM and give it a go.

So as the title says it: I keep getting the blue screen of death whenever I try to install the game. It goes fine for a while, but once it reaches 30-45% completion I get a BSOD and I have to restart my machine. I reinstalled once before to try and fix corrupted file crashes and such, and even then I was getting BSOD during the download. It happened like twice and then when I went to bed it managed to get through the entire download when I checked back on it in the morning. I recently did a system restore and have to download the game all over again, but this time around I can’t even do it. I’ve been trying for over 15 hours now to install the game but I keep getting BSOD during the download. I’ve rarely gotten it outside of this instance and it gets me thinking that it has something to do with the launcher. I could be wrong but it keeps happening around the same percent of download and makes me think something else is going on.
I run Windows 7 64bit SP1
AMD FX-8150 Eight-Core Processor at 3.61GHz
Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR3 1866MHz
Nvidia GTX670 (evga)
Asus Sabertooth AMD 990FX motherboard
(ALL of these components are 1 month or less old)
It’s getting to the point where I don’t want anything to do with the game anymore. I really enjoy it, but between the corrupt file crashes and the subsequent inability to repair or reinstall, I just don’t want to stress myself out and put up with it. Every time I crashed, and now get BSOD I just want to lose my mind and break something. I just spent an assload of money upgrading my computer and I feel like I’m getting shafted, because GW2 and Borderlands 2 were gonna be the only things I’d be playing. And right now I can’t even install Guild Wars. I’m so frustrated.

I’m currently running a GTX 670 and I’ve been getting this problem since a few days after the headstart launch. I’ll sit there for hours on end running the repair over and over and over and over while it does nothing. SOMETIMES a box with the guild wars logo appears over my launcher when I run the repair that has a progress bar saying that it’s actually repairing something, or it’ll download a few files then actually allow me to play, but then anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour or so I’ll crash out again from the corrupted MainCli.cpp. I put in a support ticket about this over 5 days ago and I have yet to hear anything. Hopefully now that these forums are up, things might get done. Let’s hope for the best.
