He/she needs to update their ticket to explain what really happened, and ask for assistance. Hopefully, he/she did not unlock anything that can not be destroyed.

She We have three accounts and I just happen to be playing on the one with the Mr. in the tag. Since I’m the only one playing now I wish I could change it. Hehe!

Just checked ingame on a core alt account. You bought the digital deluxe upgrade for the core game. It also lists what it contains and HoT is never mentioned. Pretty clear imo.

Guess I’m an idiot because I can see how it’s easy to make the mistake.

The only way to make things clearer in the description would be to state, “this is an upgrade to core accounts; the base Heart of Thorns expansion can only be purchased with cash”

Makes sense. I didn’t have an account without HoT to check but it’s a good thing it’s not available, thanks for the clarification. So it was just an OP error.

Yes, it shouldn’t be available. That makes much more sense. I’ve been away for a while. Maybe if I had kept up I might not have made the mistake?? Idk

Upgrade to me was an upgrade from the basic game…not an upgrade to an upgrade. :/

No, you don’t. You can reply to their response and ask for a supervisor. Update your ticket with any additional information you feel is pertinent.

If you continue to have issue, you can post your ticket number in the Account Support Sticky, ‘Tickets for Review’.

Edit: The items shown on your screenshot are very odd. A Heroic Chest only comes with an upgrade to Digital Deluxe for the Core game, and only for those players who own the Heroic Edition. I’ve never seen ‘Bag of Laurels’ or ‘Bag of Mystic Coins’ in any upgrade.

How many Gems did you spend for your upgrade?

It needs to be more clear that in the Black Lion Trading Company the Digital Deluxe Upgrade is not the HoT expansion even though it says…“welcome to Heart of Thrones.” It’s misleading. I just wasted $35… :’(

You should contact support and talk to them. It may not be too late to get a refund then buy the expansion. (And yes. An upgrade to the expansion shouldn’t be available unless you own the expansion)

Edit: dont reverse the charges. That will cause your account to be permanently banned.

I contacted them and they just said, “Well you purchased gems and all is well then.” Paraphrasing of course. I tried to explain what happened and they just said I only purchased gems and not the upgrade and when I tried to ask anything further…its crickets. Looks like I have to take the hit. :’(

It seems people are confused. It is possible to buy HoT in-game through the gem store for real money. You can also buy a deluxe upgrade for gems in the gem store, but you can only see the HoT deluxe upgrade if you already own HoT.

Assuming you purchased HoT, as shown below, it’ll take around 4 days to fully unlock. Also, exit the game and log back in.

Unfortunately…that isn’t the one I chose. I didn’t realize there was a difference. It said Digital Deluxe Upgrade so I assumed that is what it was and it was just as spendy as the on sale one.

If a dev or someone taking major suggestions is reading this, apparently this needs to be dumbed down for people coming back to the game after a long break.

Did you buy the upgrade with gems? That’s not the Heart of Thorns expansion, you need to buy the expansion (which is not available with gems) to access expansion content. What you probably bought is the digital deluxe upgrade of Heart of Thorns which offers some extras:
Additional Character Slot
Heart of Thorns Glider Skin
Miniature Revenant Rytlock
Revenant Finisher for PvP and WvW
Mordremoth’s Bane Guild Hall Decoration

That’s NOT the actual expansion. It’s weird that the gem store allows you to buy the digital deluxe upgrade when you don’t have the expansion.

I bought the HoT: Digital Deluxe Upgrade via the Black Lion Trading Company. I received a chest and a welcome to HoT but when I go to create a revenant it says I need to upgrade to HoT. Even going to “My Account” tells me I haven’t upgraded. Has anyone encountered this issue?
