Gaile, the easiest (from the player view) way to fix this would be to make it so if you have already got characters with traits unlocked, make them, at the appropriate level, be account unlocks. Then, the new players get introduced properly, and the existing players get the traits the way they are used to. Is this not feasable?

If not, then make either an npc where you can buy scrolls of knowledge (for skill unlocking) for a small amount of karma, or give us enough skill points, early enough, to unlock the utilities and skills as we want them.

Yea, the most offending part is locking the core traits, the master and grandmaster traits are cool but honestly less important to a rounded build then the bottom two tiers.
Making everyone “grind” (imho it is a grind because I’m locked into paying or playing specific events just to unlock what was never locked before) just because a few people are not using their traits properly is ridiculous. I love the idea of new traits being unlock-able though events, this would make trait hunting fun especially for completionists but ALL the traits being lock especially the old ones is very very frustrating, how are players supposed to learn about traits if they can’t even use them?
I would say lock just the master and grandmaster ones, this would let players work on their builds and get some satisfaction from hunting down those awesome leets they need.

I think they are trying to get people to spend more time in the game by making it more grindy, some new players I know say they have been playing for a couple months with a lvl 80 that doesn’t even have all their traits, that is just sad, the big part of a character is experimenting with traits. Having to run around tyria with a kitten toon for a couple months is utterly absurd.

I like the idea of having a few new special traits you have to work for but locking the entire line? To be blunt Anet you failed hard with this one.

This new trait locking system is absolutely hideous, its one thing to lock a few traits or charge a little to unlock them but now it costs 45g (13g + 15g for the old ones and another 15g for the new ones) to unlock them all.

Sure you can run around doing stuff to unlock them too but these are TRAITS you need them to play your character, thus we are now grinding for our characters.

Its not to bad for me since I have nearly all the professions and have been playing for a while but imagine starting from scratch? Also to get the skill points to buy those traits guess what people are going to NEED to do, grind champ trains, grind karma trains or maybe grind event trains.

Anet this a very stupid move on your part and completely out of sync with your stated goals for this game at launch.

There is definitely something screwy with the drop rate, aside from the pointlessness of fotm now over some other much much faster easier dungions, as stated, I am getting vials of mist essences past lvl 26 now, this was changed not to long ago before this resent patch so that 10+ no more vials, 20+ no more globs only shards. A lot of very problematic bugs are still in place and all the “tricks” are always patched out. I’m fine with fixing exploits but they ALWAYS seem to take priority over real play level bugs. I would like to think play quality would be a priority for anet, but it seems they only care about fixing exploits and banning gold farmers.

Small rage on my part, I loved fotm until the drop rate went to zip, no amulates in the fractals store (the only place one needs ar) and nothing to do with tokens. Plus since all the “tricks” are being removed there isn’t any point to fotm since the reward/difficulty(time) is way out of wack.

I mean come on since when is pulling a boss away from his minions an exploit? This whole game is about kiting/dodging…..
