Lvl 80 Classes: Ranger, Warrior, Guardian, Engineer, Thief
Has anyone actually tried earning hall of monument points from GW1 in 2014?
They removed the ranger PvP combat testing NPC months ago and never bothered to fix it. It’s a very clear message to the ranger community, the message isn’t one of forgetfulness- it’s one of intentional and deliberate negligence.
If I had to take a stab in the dark I would say someone who loved the ranger class kittened off a dev sometime a few months after the public release. Would explain the deliberate and heavy nerfs we get everytime the ranger gets a new skill or anything nice. Would also explain the shortbow 40% dps nerf we got a year or so ago, they lied and called it an “animation bug fix”.
[TACR] is disbanded until further notice for support reasons. No merger will occur as I have heard nothing from [WIND] leadership elements. All members except coordinators have been kicked.
I may continue [TACR] in the future when I have the time and patience to do so. Without NA officers to help with managing the guild I simply cannot dedicate enough time to the guild.
If I have inconvenienced you in any way I apologize.
I’m currently contemplating disbanding [TACR].

Pet’s do no need a nerf, in fact just the opposite! There are two very simple sollutions they need to make pets viable in PvE, and that is the following…
1) The option to permanently dismiss and recall your pet incobat WITHOUT a cooldown! This cannot work on ‘downed’ pets for obvious reasons, however swapping to 2nd pet can then be dismissed, but that’ll cost you the usual cooldown.
2) Make pets immune to AoE! This sounds overpowered, but it’s really not. you can still single-target a pet in PvP (that’s not different than having to tab onto mesmer phantasms etc) and in PvE means that pets are acutally useful and not dead 24/7 in combat coz you cannot dismiss them to avoid damage.
A perfect example of this is the Fractal boss “Mai Trin” with her turret phase. My pet ALWAYS dies on that phase because it cannot avoid AoE and is useless. If I could dismiss my pet for that phase, it’d be great, then recall it when the boss returns. Not forced to waste a 60sec cooldown just to have a pet all the time, because you’ll need that when her bleeds kill the pet!
I’m currently fighting Boom-Boom in the Pavilion and my cat is one-shot by any one of the multiple bomb aoe’s on the floor! One bomb takes at least 3/4 my pet hp, meaning if I want to use it’s F2 skill, it needs to be at my side, and even then still manages to die because it cannot avoid stuff.
Let’s not forgot the fractal with the mad asura, on the stairs your pet literally exists to get you killed. One hit aggros you popping your pet out and right into another of the moving traps triggering a second explosion killing you and your team mates. Then there’s arrow carts in wvw, all other classes can trudge through ac fire and not have their dps affected…rangers on the other hand lose their pet and a major source of dps.
A simple option over the stow pet tab to “lock” it from popping out when aggroed would save everyone so much grief. I’m not suggesting to get rid of pets, just give us more control over the kitten things.
I haven’t had much time to play lately, and I have my own guilds to rep, but if you ever need help theorycrafting, hit me up.
- I’ve played ranger since launch
– Commanded (no tag) for a zergbusting guild and created most of the builds used
– Know my way around tPvP :]
– All I do (literally) is duel in-game
– I am very experienced with all types of builds and know how to play them well, this does not only apply to ranger. (The only classes I don’t play as much are engi, necro, and guard, though I’ve fought and still played them long enough to know how they all work.)
– And I very strongly dislike PvE. hahaThe only thing is I won’t rep much. I don’t really PvE so I won’t have a reason to guest, and I have my own guilds to take care of. Also, it might be awhile before I can accept the invite depending on how long until I return. But again, if you ever need any help training the new guys or anything, let me know and I’ll free up some time.
I’ve actually set aside ranks for people who want to contribute to the ranger community but can’t because of obligations elsewhere. I have several people occupying the Guild Ally role from [Wind] and we do sPvP match-ups occasionally, and I have someone occupying a Guild Advisor Rank. Both ranks are exempt from the rep requirement and any other guild requirements. The difference is that the Guild Advisor rank reflects the experience of the individual with ranger game-play and you may get the occasional whisper from someone with questions.
This might be a little off-topic but I need a bit of help setting up my ts3 server. I bought my guild a 15 slot server but haven’t the foggeist idea how to set it up. If you could point me to an easy to understand guide or walk me through it that would be great.
[TACR] is now hosting public missions on YOUR schedule rather than on ours!
Why are we doing this? Because we lack the sheer number of bodies for missions, and we’re offering this service to guilds that lack the infrastructure to do missions or just a group of friends wanting guild coms for ascended trinkets.
What’s the catch? In order to grow further we need Influence and guild merits. So we require a mandatory training bounty mission which nets [TACR] 3,000 influence on completion, and this let’s us see your group/guild’s capability and ability to coordinate with us. Alternatively you can pay us 6 gold[please don’t pay in advance, only right before the main mission] so we can buy the same amount of influence but really doing a training bounty doesn’t take very long and is actually quite easy.
Important!
Hunting down all targets or completing a mission 100% is NOT required unless you want to establish a long term relationship with [TACR]. Just collect your guild comms/rewards and you’re free to go! Now there are some rules…..or actually alot…
Rules:
-You assume responsibility to read ALL of the rules, the rules are subject to change if someone finds a way to abuse them.
-Missions must be scheduled in advance, I will then give my guildies a 24 hour notice prior to starting the mission(s). Send mail to akaelae in-game or post here, I respond to in-game mail quicker. I don’t always have whisper chat active so use mail, leading a ranger guild tends to attract trolls.
-You can reschedule if you need too, as we understand the real world tends to infringe on gw2 whenever it pleases. However no-call no shows will not be tolerated.
-Training bounty MUST be completed if you want to do the real bounty that nets guild comms. If you screw it up you and your group will be barred from our missions permanently, training bounties are REALLY hard to fail with a good group. If you have a friendship/alliance/relationship with us you will not be required to do training bounties.
-Must have a MINIMUM of 5 lvl 80 players for bounties, and a minimum of 15 for everything else. Though you should bring more in case I cannot provide additional bodies from my guild.
-Must be willing to listen to [TACR] orders during mission, unless you plan to lead the mission yourself. If you listen, missions are actually quite easy
-[TACR] members may or may not be present during mission, we may only show up to activate the event and observe the results. Hence the mandatory minimum body count requirement and educating yourself on missions.
-Must be willing to accept complete responsibility for a failed mission regardless of who is in charge. The definition of “failed” depends on if you’re doing missions for comms or trying to establish a long-term relationship with us. For example you only need to kill one bounty target if you just want comms, two target kills is required to complete the mission though you don’t need to unless you want to establish a relationship with us.
-Reading the guide to missions is mandatory, ignorance is not an excuse
http://dulfy.net/2013/02/27/gw2-guild-bounty-guide/
http://dulfy.net/category/gw2/guild-missions/
-Must have bounty wander path open and gw2 in window mode. Unless you have a photographic memory which I doubt.
-Teamspeak is mandatory, download client prior to missions. Don’t worry, [TACR]‘s guild teamspeak server will be available to your group during missions.
-After your group has collected your rewards, you will be kicked from the guild and must re-apply next time you want to do missions. Again, if you have a relationship with us you won’t get kicked and you will have a permanent slot which is only voided by a month of afk or if you’re jerk to [TACR]guildies. Guild allies(people who have a relationship with us) will not be expected to rep outside of active mission.
Last rule:
Fill out the relevant information prior to applying.
Amount of players attending:
Doing for either A[guild comms/rewards] ~or~ B[Guild ally application]:
and when offer more than bounties include this in the application
Type of mission(s) wanted:
Right now we’re only offering Guild bounties to the public but we intend to offer all mission types to the public once we get them unlocked. This isn’t permanent, once we have 40-60 guild allies we will be pulling public missions. First come first serve.

Upgrades/Ts3 are now complete, we are live again!
With some modifications(remove the traits that buff pet) you can make it work, but should you step out of a garrison your butt is toast. I find glass lb ranger works extremely well in garrison due to the high number of choke and vantage points. Less effective in keeps and towers due to the fact people can shoot back or just pull you off the wall. Practically worthless in 1v1 or small scale fights.
With extreme tactical micromanaging you can use it in a zerg and can actually be quite useful in downing wall defenders before they pop back into safety. However there are better options for zerg fights and glass cannon lbs is not one of those options.
Ideally you should keep a zerk set in your inventory as a 2ND SET and re-trait when you find yourself in a garrison. You’ll have waay more than the 30 seconds required to swap sets and re-trait as garrison battles tend to get drawn out(at least in the upper tier servers) for long periods of time.
Right now I’m torn between the sigil of earth or the sigil of bursting on my bleed ranger’s shortbow. Correct me if I’m wrong but on a rabid set bursting would provide more overall damage?
Pretty much why Black Desert is looking more appealing by the day, despite the fact it’s probably going to be another korean mmo grindfest. Then again, GW2 end-gamecontent is the same but with the benefit of being optional.
Defense: Rangers make good bay defenders, plenty of choke points and high ledges for a zerk ranger to rain death on targets freely.
Roaming: Ranger make excellent condition roamers, 25 stacks of bleed in 5 seconds and a high bleed stack upkeep make killing necros and bunker wars with conditions a reality. That, and the ranger has the highest poison damage of any class along with decent mobility. Plenty of condition sources with low cool-downs that can be further complemented with sigils.
Direct zerg combat: I’ve seen ranger commanders before and they usually have an easy time staying up. On HoD the commander guy(some guy with aragorn in his name) was usually the last the go down. Getting a free evade every 3rd attack on your one skill is extremely useful in avoiding damage altogether. Not many sources of stability causes serious problems though, better off rolling a warrior here.

I don’t understand all the paranoid and xenophobic reactions to the megaserver.
Use your server’s community website to retain that sense of community.
And when all else fails you can always ask the individual(s) “What server are you from?”
They can lie about it and guest to your server so nobody can tell the difference. You’d have to drag every person you recruited into WvW to verify them, the same pain in the kitten process used on Ts3, and honestly guildies deserve better than to be scrutinized.
Honestly a single server traitor can cause more damage in WvW than the largest zerg, Running stored golems off cliffs, refacing balista in keeps, reporting on positions, the list goes on all of it utterly devastating. This isn’t exclusive to top tier servers, this is apparently going on in alot of servers.
I’m not talking about finger pointing witch-hunts, I’m talking about the stuff we(the players) can prove with video recording. Have a section of the forums dedicated for this so anet isn’t overloaded with false reports with no evidence. Less than an hour out of a staff member’s week to stop unnecessary griefing that can be easily prevented to ensure fair game play. Just pop in watch a few videos, and help players enjoy a fair decent fight in WvW without people abusing the system.
I think the Terms of Service should be updated to reflect this. For additional effect make this public in announcements to deter and scare people strait who are pulling this nonsense.
This is also a problem in fractals as-well, an unstowed pet can get you killed and your team mates killed in FoTM. Such as in the one with the raving asura. In the solid ocean fractal pets draw aggro from the boss and make charging crystals take longer and draw the boss fight out way longer than it should be. You’re forced to keep your pet dead and stay in combat 24/7 lest your pet respawn and screw everything up.
You can tell alot about a ranger by what pet they have, in PvP a bearbow is an obvious squishy and I do love wailing on them. Great-sword and offhand axe, such great counter bow weapons.
I’m not an npc, I’m smart enough to know the bear is a meat-shield…not a bruiser. The ranger is the obvious source of dps.
Probably meta-trash anyway, as such they’re as only good as whatever flavor-of-the-month builds they’re running. In short don’t expect much from them should those exploits ever get patched.
Currently running SB(condition) and need some clarification on what stat(s) should I be stacking for maximum pvp damage. I am currently focusing on and I will put it in numerical order to emphasize from greatest to least. 1: Precision 2: Condition Damage3: Ferocity.
Now my question is this am I stacking the correct stats for a condition build and if not please tell me. Also does power play a factor in say bleed damage etc.
Thanks for your help
Crystlviper
The shortbow’s physical damage hits like a wet noodle even on zerker gear, it’s a condition weapon. You’ll want rabid gear with a sigil of earth and make sure you spec for sharpened edges and keen edge. The more crits you land the more bleed stacks you put on a target.
I often end up swapping things around, but this is the basic make-up of what I use for WvW roaming. 25 stacks of bleed can be achieved in about 4-7 seconds with a consistent 10-12 bleeds stacks on your target provided they notice you and they have heavy condition removal. It’s not the perfect build and you can be easily ganked by thiefs but it’s easy to use.
On an off-note, the traited sharpening stone is also affected by survival skill cd trait even if the website doesn’t show it.
I’m a PvX blackgate player that is looking for a guild that does guild missions, I work every Saturday and Sunday so Ideally I’d like a guild that does missions during the week or past 9:00pm server time on weekends.
I have done missions before and have Ts3 with a working mike.
I am willing to use any of my characters for missions.
Thanks for the invite, joined!
However, reading the MOTD, I have a question:What happens when I am leveling an alt which is not my Ranger main?
Am I still required to rep this guild or face being kicked?I ask because when I’m not on my Ranger, I will not rep. I feel it doesn’t make sense for a [non-Ranger] to rep a Ranger guild, RP wise.
We honestly don’t have a problem with that, in fact the guild actually benefits from having people who see things from the perspective of the other classes. Not to mention it will make you more effective in PvP and WvW knowing where the few weak-points of whatever flavor-of-the-month meta build warriors and such are running. Not to mention I’d be the biggest hypocrite for placing class restrictions in a guild that recruits people denied access to many areas of GW2
In short playing ranger is more of a preference and helps with the appeal of a supportive ranger guild. The one thing that is mandatory is being supportive of the guild and not creating a hostile environment for ranger players. Still it is strongly encouraged you roll ranger during guild events and we may ask you to do so though we wont force it. Not as big of a deal when you roll another class on your time, but when you roll a class on the guild’s time it’s common curtsy to roll ranger.
So don’t get surprised seeing a [TACR] mesmer offering to port guildies to the end of a jumping puzzle in guild chat.

A consistent hoser such chill actually sounds pretty promising.
This is something that must be shown, rather than explained with text. I lied when I said I’d upload a video tonight, and honestly it was a dumb idea to try to add a long PvP video(to show its not a fluke) with commentary on a work night.
It was a terrible mistake on my part to present a controversial build half-baked without irrefutable evidence of it’s practicality.

Finally, that ranger in Hotm was so outdated that it was laughable. It was a mess, like many others.
They probably removed it because they need to update it.
So they removed the ranger to update it last? I feel so special.
Oh hey, cool though guy, think a little before posting.
Nice ad hominem there. Look, you can ether refute my point….or you can’t. Ad hominems make for poor critique, poor form, and quite frankly won’t get you anywhere. Keep in mind that just because someone disagrees with you, doesn’t mean that they hate you.
If the ranger was mess, like so many of the others as you plainly stated in your post.. then why was only the ranger removed?
This is a quickness build that uses axes while using your pet as a heavy unavoidable bruiser and meat-shield if need be. You will be using 4 axes, yes four and not because I have a fetish for axes. Read it again, four axes. Why four axes or an axe at all? Axes because the axe yields the highest amount of physical ranged damage besides the longbow. Not to mention the axe has a 1/4th second cast time instead of the 3/4th second cast time lb arrows have, damage isn’t hampered by distance, and requires virtually no micromanagement. As for 2 sets of axes you’ll be needing those to swap between them for 5 seconds of fury every 9 seconds when you swap weapons. You’ll also be bursting your enemy with constant lightning bolts and flame aoes from your sigils. Which you must place your sigils in your 2nd set of axes opposite of the first set’s sigil slots or they wont trigger, it’s just how the sigils work.
Weapon 1 skill: You’ll be using this skill the most, it bounces off 3 targets allowing you hit stealthed targets(I think) in groups. If two targets it hits the first bounces to back to first after hitting the second.
Weapon 2 skill: Ignore this, it’s a condition skill that’s only effective when you’re close to a target which you don’t want. Also has a higher skill cast time and is a waste of your dps.
Weapon 3 skill: Purely situational, use on a running target if 4 is on cd
Weapon 4 skill: A control skill, only use on running targets or if you need to interrupt someone trying to stomp one of your team mates.
Weapon 5 skill: Excellent defensive skill, will ruin any longbow ranger’s day. Melee opponents are punished with retaliation and ranged enemies are devastated by their own attacks while you don’t take a single point of damage. Use when you can’t break out of melee combat, pop quickness for a melee slaughter fest. Even without quickness most melee attackers will step away from your whirling axes. This is one of your major trump cards, use wisely. Note: You will be tempted to use your 4 skill so you can follow it up with your 5 skill, just don’t.
Heal : Use to remove conditions and heal yourself. Combos up nicely with whirling axes.
Utility 1: 6 seconds of Quickness, use this with sic em as it ensures you get the maximum amount of burst out your pet.
Utility 2: 40+Dmg and 40+movement speed, Combined with your pets F2 leap and quickness it hits like an unavoidable train.
Utility 3: Use when severely pressed in melee combat, if at all possible use after a pet swap to give you the maximum amount of hp to soak up damage.
Elite: Use as often as you can, pop this prior to using your utility 2 skill so you get the maximum amount of dps out of your elite and utilities.
Your pet, swap soon as you possible can and pop your pet’s F2 immediately for a hard hitting nearly unavoidable leap that bleeds or chills your foe. Keep in mind felines are not like birds, they stop to attack(instead of sticking with a moving target) and have less than half of a bird’s basic attack range. So the feline’s F2 is a mandatory distance closer, and you need that 30%+ traited speed boost so your pet doesn’t waste dps chasing a target instead of hitting it. IMPORTANT: swapping pets will remove any buff on your pet, so if you pop your elite+utilities then swap….ALL of those buffs go poof on your primary source of dps.
I will upload a video after I get back from work today. Probably late night.

No really they did. We’ve always got a backseat when it’s come to updates and now they remove the ranger combat testing NPC in the heart of the mists. It’s pretty much a declaration of how little they think of us and Anet is pretty much stating that nobody should role ranger in PvP. Honestly, when is the last time you saw an Anet guy playing ranger in WvW? I’m told there are Anet devs that play as ranger but I’ve yet to see any, anywhere. I’ve seen the occasional neer and necro but 9 times out of 10 it’s a warrior with the Anet symbol hovering over his nameplate…
Anyhow before I veer anymore off-topic, I will say this doesn’t surprise me since it took them well over a year to fix the kitten pet’s responsiveness and they still slam us with nerfs every major patch.

Effective immediately all new members will be transitioned into the “stay” rank.
Hello lovers! (and friends /awkward silence)
I am thinking of, someday, making an ascended set for my ranger. I run a hybrid spirits/damage build for dungeons and am really enjoying playing support. Plus, spirits are friggin adorable and I love my walking forest.
What is a good armor set that compliments using spirits defensively? I’m a little confused as to how spirits work in terms of stats. I know Stone Spirit and Storm Spirit both give boons while Frost Spirit and Sun Spirit put on conditions. My utilities are USUALLY Water Spirit, Stone Spirit (for protection), Frost Spirit (bonus damage), third slot as needed depending on the situation, and finally Spirit of Nature. So what’s a good set that compliments a hybrid build and plays to the strengths Spirits provide?
Thank you! =D
Alot of rangers run bunker when using spirits, so Soldiers, Knights, or Cavalier set should serve you well. Since you’ll have to spec down nature magic tree which is considered a vital aspect of the ranger bunker so you might as well grab something that complements that.
Never ever use cleric’s as the benefit is simply too marginal to be of use with our water spirit, and the other spirits are not really affected that much by gear.
(edited by MuchWaffle.2579)
Still in the market for guild missions.
Disadvantages:
-No free cakeDeal braker for me sorry!
Jokes aside, best of luck with the guild. Hopefully we see less and less of the old hostile ranger mentality.
Always good to see support from other rangers even if they have interest in joining
I’m sorry but with this patch bearbow became extremely overpowered. The bear hit me for 7k and knocked me back. The ranger was triple signet shooting arrows from almost 2000 range. This is absolutely ridiculous. Triple signet bearbow ranger needs a Nerf
First, rangers don’t have 2000 range on ANY of their weapons. The longest is 1,200 with a total of 1,500 if you trait. Secondly, bears have the lowest offense of any of the ranger pets, they’re basically a piece of meat we use as shields. With signet of the hunt popped(150+ damage for one hit) a GLASS CANNON bird pet(raven) with the most hard hitting F2 skill hits x2 for around 2,500k per hit for around 5k. That’s if BOTH hits crit.
Please get your facts strait before screaming for a nerf for one of the most nerfed and undervalued classes in the game. If you REALLY hate rangers roll thief and smack one us with a backstab.
I get it MuchWaffle, but the bias is something that will take longer to dissapear. I think that, for now the best thing that can be done, is to grow the community itself in a positive and constructive manner. Find rangers who have free time to play within different time zones (I think there are 3 in general), who are experienced and want to run events in the guild. 24 hours / 3 = 8 hours a piece, you can make it so that every 8 hours events regarding PvP, WvW, PvE are done by people who are consistently active during those times. With such a big ranger community, in the long run it shouldn’t be too difficult to find volunteers for this purpose. The events should be scheduled daily even if people won’t do them, but they will begin to slowly but surely until it becomes a near daily basis thing.
I like Winds and I am a member there, but the main problem I find is that nothing happens when I am online and no one is repping. The guild has been running for some time now so I’d expect a little more from it. When I log in and I don’t want to roam with the people I know in game in other guilds, I want to play with rangers. Be it in WvW or in PvE or in PvP, but it’s hard to do that with how things are now. So I think a structure should be set, so that goals can be accomplished by the ranger community. If you really are interested (as you say above) in the future of rangers as a profession, a well structured guild should be your first step; think of how the [TTS] guild organized so well server wide when the Tequatl event came out, you could almost always log in at a specific push time and the guild would be running acccross in multiple servers, across the 10+ expansions of the guild, across most overflows.
Ideally I wanted to have guild missions to be the pivotal point, but you make a valid point on having regular events whether or not people show up or not. Having events is something I need to start now rather than later and me waiting on upgrades to finish will drive a knife into this guild before it gets anywhere.

Just started publicly recruiting outside of forums, and I’ve discovered a few things. First being is the large number of people telling me off for starting a ranger guild and generally being a rude kitten to me. “Rangers are all mouth breathers” “all rangers must die” are some examples, usually followed by a block.
Second thing I’ve discovered from the first, is that this tells me what people really think and act like when not bound by forum or guild rules of etiquette. Basically they wrap up their ranger bias in nice little box with a pretty bow that is presented in the form of critique.
The third comes from the second, an active ranger community is MANDATORY if we plan to do ANYTHING without getting barred from playing the game by other classes who base kicking us out of instances upon a premeditated bias. Once we([TACR]) hit our 500 member cap we’ll start by referring and sending people to [Wind], once [Wind] is filled we’ll branch out even further one server at a time all run by anyone willing to take up the mantle(We’ll offer support). Eventually we may even be able to have guild missions, dungeons, fractals, living world content, map completion, team pvp, and living world content completion running every single day of the week for rangers wanting to play Guild Wars without being sh** on.
I’ve received alot of support along with the flaming for starting a ranger guild. It’s that “I get it. I know what it feels like to be devalued” feeling from other rangers that has motivated me to help make this colossal undertaking a reality. Even though expanding [TACR] and [Wind] will take at least 2-3 months at the current rate of recruitment. By the beginning of 2015 I want a community so massive in scope that it will make all the meta classes want to re-roll THEIR class and join our massive multi-server family.
I once saw a guy named “ranger reroll”, and people we’re constantly complimenting him on his username. I want things like that to go poof by 2015.

Title: Celestial Ruined for 5 classes
Body: Celestial ferocity update effectively destroyed it’s appeal and effectiveness for 5 classes out of the 6. Critical damage has been reduced from 62%+ to 31%+, that’s isn’t just bigger hit than any of the Zerk nerfs got-it’s a utter train wreck of a nerf(50% reduction) .
Extreme patience* was rewarded with mediocre stats with respectable dps if you traited+food around precision. Now extreme patience is punished with mediocrity across the board, everyone except for eles can better achieve their goals by mixing other equipment to achieve better results for less time, money, and effort.
For the sake of build diversity and fairness, please give us back our dps.
*Prior to ascended equips celestial equips were the only equips in the game that had a time-gate(32 days in total, insignias+unique material account bound) on making the necessary materials for the armor and weapons. Ascended celestial insignias follow the same rules.
Actually, if I’m not mistaken, you can even transfer ascended trinkets (rings, amulets, backpack) on heavy and light professions since they are common. Can you confirm?
Yup, all ascended trinkets follow the same set of rules. Swapped some stuff from warrior onto my ranger.

So WIND is back, sortof. However TACR is still recruiting out of Blackgate. I still want to see a ranger zerg sometime in the near future.

Marksmanship: Read the Wind: Longbow and Harpoon Gun projectile velocity is increased by 100%.
Skirmishing: Strider’s Defense – You have a 15% chance to block ranged attacks while in melee.
Wilderness Survival : Poison Master – Poison you apply deals 50% extra damage. Poison your pet’s first attack when they are swapped to.
Nature Magic: Survival of the fittest – Remove two conditions and gain fury when using a survival skill.
Beast Mastery: Invigorating Bond- Your pet heals in an area when executing command abilities (i.e. your F2 skill now heals in an area)
Well, that killed my kitten of hope for the ranger class.
so it spreads a random condition the target is suffering from, to other targets it passes through? if so, It would have to have an decent ICD to not be incredibly OP. Cool concept though.
It would grab 1, 3 or all conditions(balance issues) from the first target, then distribute those condition(s) to any other target it passes through.
If it was 1 condition per arrow, it could probably get away with an ICD of like 5 seconds, otherwise it would be way too good with short bow.
if it was all conditions, it would probably have something like a 15 second ICD.
If it was all conditions and all stacks, it would be completely OP.Not really, other classes can freely move conditions/boons around from allies/enemies, and considering rangers are constantly b***hed at for not being able to do anything better than other classes this would be a good change. Ideally you can have the shortbow penetrate less than the big a** longbow and since the range is already short that would balance it out further.
Not to mention you can’t pierce targets from let’s say a keep(due to the angle), you have to be on the ground in slaughter range of the enemy zerg to pull this off. That and if this ever does go live rangers will start getting Ctrl+Ted alot more often making this task even more dangerous.
If it only spreads on condition, and there was Condition Priority programmed in and had set condition durations instead of outright copying the condition, then it wouldn’t need an internal cooldown.
For example, Bleeding gets priority over all other conditions, and If you shot an arrow through a bleeding enemy, it would only transfer 1 stack of bleeding for 5 seconds, and scaling is based on your condition damage and duration. Multiple arrows will copy the same condition stack (a point-blank ranged poison volley could copy that 1 stack of confusion, and possibly apply 5 stacks to an enemy immediately behing your target)
Next on the list would be Vulnerability, then Poison, then Burning, Torment, Confusion, Cripple, Chill, Immobilize, and Fear. This way, the more powerful conditions are very rare to spread around, making it more balanced. Another balancing factor is that you have to line up targets for this to work anyways.
So basically give the ranger another role to suck at more than other classes?
Take whatever range you want to pierce a target, divide it by 2 and that is where you’ll have to stand to effectively hit targets behind your first. That is assuming you’re fighting an army of training golems. Since you’re not, in order to be effective you be ineffective by bring a longbow to large zerg melee brawl. The ranger has been beaten to death by nerfs, we need something like this to put us in the meta department with warriors and well…almost every other class.

Against a stationary target yes felines do more damage. However targets will rarely sit there and let your pet wail on them like a training golem. A feline’s base attack range is only 130 (like most melee pets), birds on the otherhand have an attack range of 300, over twice that of a feline. Worst yet the feline stops while initiating an attack(I kite these guys all the time), birds on the other-hand stick to their target and don’t stop to attack. Also having a small annoying bird animation fly around you tends to be distracting.
Furthermore the Raven’s F2 has the highest raw damage with a free blind dumped on the target. The only advance to having felines trail behind you when fighting other players would be their F2 abilities. The Lynx’s and Leopard’s F2 leap(combo!) has a range of 600-a drastic increase in range from any of the Birds’ F2 abilities which all have a range of 130. Unfortunately long cds on feline F2 skills, dps gone to waste chasing targets and swiping at empty air is a kitten in the ranger dps punch-bowl.
There are ways to make the Felines work in PvP, they’re just not practical unless you want to spec down the Beast-mastery tree for a quickness burst build.

I’m looking to do guild missions anytime weekdays Monday through Friday or weekends after 9:00pm server time. I’m experienced in all areas of guild missions with the exception of guild puzzles. I also have a lvl 80 guardian, warrior, ranger, and engineer. I am willing to use whatever class the guild wants me to use during missions.
I am perfectly fine with doing missions on any sever, however I have no intention of transferring out of my home server Blackgate and I can only rep during missions.
Shoot me a in-game email invite if you need an extra body for guild missions and have a guild member slot to spare. Feel free to leave guild information here such as whatever builds and tactics your guild uses during missions.

so it spreads a random condition the target is suffering from, to other targets it passes through? if so, It would have to have an decent ICD to not be incredibly OP.

Good ideas, but what we really need is better synergy with other classes to remove the whole “selfish” tag that has been painted on rangers.
In short, make the ranger play a role that players would actually have to stop and think if they want the ranger instead of some other class for that last open slot in the party.
Someone suggested a bit back to have piercing arrows copy conditions from the first target into all targets that are pierced by it.
That alone would be a COMPLETE game changer in making us more useful.
Is this still a thing? Haven’t gotten invite.
Apparently the leadership elements are either temporarily incapacitated or traveling last I heard from one of their members/friend/person. So apparently they’re still active the guild leadership is just afk for a bit.
“[Wind]‘s leaders are currently occupied with outside things, I’m afraid. Sevans unfortunately injured one of his hands at work (it’s not broken, but it is unusable at the moment) and Textilian is out traveling last I heard. No, I’m not a stalker, but I am related to them outside (and sometimes inside) of [Wind]. I would update the guild message to say as such but lack the privileges so here I am. :’) Best regards to [TACR] in the meantime!”

Well, that explains alot. Little too invested at this point to turn back but at the same time I don’t want to make enemies with another ranger guild. A guild alliance would be preferable, maybe one of the guild hosts guild missions on different days/timezones to reduce the strain on the leadership elements. While having two separate WvW bases at the same time. Anyhow I’m sure we’ll figure something out.
The Allied Council of Rangers[TACR] is recruiting across all servers but we’re located on Blackgate so you won’t be able to WvW with us unless you transfer over. Ideally we’ll start doing WvW guild raids within the next few weeks.
Regardless, you should check out our recruitment page.

ooooo…..sounds nice, but I don’t play nearly enough nowadays to be much of a benefactor or beneficiary
We’re more of a community so how often you’re on isn’t really that big of deal. So I’ll shoot ya invite anyways and you can roll with us when you feel like it =)
Ranger free hate group
