I quite like Orr tbh..it reminds me of what the Eastern Plaguelands used to be like in Vanilla WoW before they nerfed the game into the ground.

Its just endlessly frustrating that there never seems to be any players around in such an epic zone though. I wish they would incentivise it somehow..would be nice to take back some of those perma-contested waypoints lol.

Im relatively new to GW2 so i dont know if Orr once had a golden age a couple of months back and if they somehow ruined it. Ive heard its something to do with fractals but im still exploring all that so i dont actually know.

Either way,its certainly disappointing that the end-game zone is so empty whereas starter areas like Queensdale or Wayfarer Foothills always seem to be jammed.

Is Guild Wars 2 worthy?

Im surprised to hear some people say that GW2 is considered unoptimised. Ive had the exact opposite experience..and a rather surprising one at that. Im playing on a PC i bought in 2009 with no issues.

However, when i bought GW2 i was expecting the absolute worst of trouble in all regards..for me,buying the game and expecting it to run properly was a huge gamble. But i guess i got lucky as it runs fine on medium-high settings across the board..except for extreme WvWvW situations with tons of things going on at the same time.

Even then though, its still playable. My point being..the last thing i would call the GW2 engine is unoptimised. I hopped on the hype-wagon for SWTOR leading up to its release, bought the CE and everything..and my comp could barely run it lol.

That MMO has one of kittentiest engines ive ever experienced in a game to be honest. Talk about unoptimised lol But i digress..personally,from a pure player perspective on an outdated machine,i find GW2 to be well optimised.

But thats just me and this subject is naturally divisive anyways.

Nah i made sure to do all that before i even began installing, pretty much kept an eye on this forum during the week leading up to buying the game just to make sure i knew what to expect.

It all ended well anyways,i found a fix posted by someone on another forum. It basically involved deleting the “fake” game directory that gets created after the failed disc install. Then,re-installing from the discs a second time…and it actually worked. I have no idea why,but it did.

Got around 13.5GB from the discs and the rest from the client. To be precise..when i encountered the problem the first time, the client asked me to download 225,000 game files. However, when i managed to successfully install from the discs,it dropped down to 75,000 files.

So yeah, all ready to go now . Cheers for replying all the same =)

Thanks for the reply mate. I managed to fix the error in the meantime, found a solution on a differant forum and got around 13gb of data installed from the discs.

However, ive now run into a new problem facepalm. After hours of downloading the patch, which is around 5gb instead of the original 15-20gb..it froze at 95%,my monitor went black for a second and nothing more is happening. The client is sitting there at 95% and 3,643 more files to go.

Unbelievable lol. Never had this much trouble actually installing an MMO..i was expecting the trouble to come when trying to run it and tweaking settings lol. Infuriating stuff tbh.

EDIT – Restarted my comp and the download has resumed. Almost there lol. Quite the install adventure.

Heys guys and gals. I bought the retail version of GW2 today and during the installation process i recieved the following error when installing from disc 2.

“There was an error copying installation data. If you press ‘Ignore’ Guild Wars 2 will still run correctly, but may require a very long initial patch time. If you press ‘Abort’ Guild Wars 2 will be uinstalled.”

So after retrying a couple of times and getting the same error again,i Ignored and let the installation finish. And of course,im now faced with a rather hefty patch download that seems to be roughly around 15gb-20gb in size (using dodgy napkin math). Im not even sure if its a patch or actually the entire game.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? I dont mind waiting over night for the download to finish. But if there was some way to fix the install error and get a chunk of the data off of the discs (as was intended i assume) and significantly decrease the download size,id love to know.

Ive read in various forums that a successful disc install is perhaps possible and reduces the patch size down to 3-5gb. But finding exact information is proving difficult.

Thanks for your time =)
