Is all that we see or seem just a dream within a dream?

On topic: I agree that, so far, the feel of the original Crystal Desert is not really there. Of course, this is not only an issue of design, but also of the GW2 core. There just aren’t any really desolate and empty places left in the world. Unfortunately this and some other design choices removed the ‘adventure’ feeling the original game had, especially in the Crystal Desert.
Maybe wait until the expansion is actually out?
I agree that the original feel of the Crystal Desert isn’t there but I’m pretty sure we’re going to get that feel once we’ve seen other parts of the map
It seriously baffles me how people always start judging a whole game or expansion after they’ve played a tiny tiny fraction of a demo …
250 years have passed; Elder Dragons rose; Palawa Joko diverted the Elon river; and mankind left it’s mark upon the environment. So of course things look different.

I feel the same way. I also rarely if ever post here.
I was one of those vocal players against mounts, and to be honest, I am still against them in Guild Wars. Never needed them in GW1, nor in GW2.
But this? These mounts are amazing. They feel like beasts you ride, they serve a function and have personality. (As a dog person…that raptor is absolutely fantastic)
You dismount them for interaction and the way the raptor winds up to throttle into full speed, then slides a bit when stopping…absolutely fantastic, and this is what I think is mounts done right. Better than any MMO.
I really hope the Anet team doesn’t change the above mentioned things about the mounts. People just need to get used to something different, same as I had to do with these mounts in my beloved GW.
I never post on the forum, but it saddened me to see such negative feedback on mounts. I can’t understand you guys. I, personally, never liked mounts in mmorpgs and I never wanted them in guild wars. I always told people “mounts have nothing to do in guild wars” and here I am, loving my experience on the raptor. It’s fast, smooth, and most of all, it feels special. Some of you guys were upset about the way the raptor turns, I on the contrary love this. I love the way this feels like I’m riding a beast and not incarnating it. I love the animations, they are awesome and so smooth I’d like to thank the guys that worked on it. I’m still a bit scared that everyone I see will always be on a mount when Path of Fire will be out, and that’s one of the things I never liked about mounts : why move on foot if you have a mount ? But that’s another debate (and contrary to one of the posts here, I really believe that dismounting when interracting is a great way to reduce mount-overcrowding). Right now I can say that I love riding the raptor. I’m not even playing the beta because I want to experience it further with the new elite specs, so I’m just running around on my mount, then log out and play with my regular characters, and then log back in just to run around with the raptor a bit again.
So, just a post to say kuddos to the teams that worked on it. I know it’s often the negative feedback that are loud and visible because when you like something you don’t necessarily need to talk about it, but I really hope you guys at Arena Net still believe the way you made mounts move was the right one. The only thing concerning I admit is the motion sickness issue some of the players brought up already on the forum. I don’t have an opinion about that because I don’t experience motion sickness, but I really hope it won’t change too much the current experience.
I’d agree the dogs as just veterans are a bit hard. With a ping over 400 it was a bit hard to dodge and i was downed as an Ele.
The rest was a bit hard but better than some of the LS2 I’m going through now.
I think mounts in the home instance are a WONDERFUL idea. I don’t know about the buff mechanic…I’d probably avoid that (lest it become a daily chore)…but definitely like the idea in general. +1 here.
After playing the PoF beta, I am very attached to my new Raptor mount.
When I got to the Firefly heart, my new Yoshi friend turned absolutely adorable, and I want to shower it with love.
The recent new cat technology™ made me think about the potential ability to visit the Raptor in our home instance, and play with it a little.
When I think of home instance, I think of dailies. What if we had the ability to feed it in the home instance? Perhaps it can give them a very modest buff for the next 24hours? (+10% tail swipe damage?)
I really want to get more use out of the home instance, and giving our new friends a home sounds like the perfect opportunity!
Yes:
Junundu Wurms; specifically for the sulphurous wastes
Golems; slow, meant to carry heavy stuff
Arachnea; has a single shot of that Druids Touch
Devourer; just looks cool
Dolyak; traverse rough terrain
Absolutely not:
Aurene: she’s special, no one wants 50 Aurenes in every city. Plus she’s gonna be huge in the future
Horses: no, just no
thanks to an amazing community and a dedicated developer team iv just had an amazing time with this game. its helped me greatly in this difficult time of the passing of my father
its nice to just log on and grind it out with some fellow gamers.
Balthazar attacked the datacenter in frankfurt yesterday he allmost managed to destroy the whole city but Arenanet sent their strongest heroes to defend the datacenter there were many casulties but just when all hope was lost balthazar weakend retreated so the heroes started working as hard as they could to repair the damage Balthazar caused.
If GW2 devs stripped and copied every feature in WoW and introduced it in their own game, it still wouldn’t be WoW.
If they completely destroy the entire leveling process because ‘hurr endgame durr’, THEN it will be like WoW.
Introducing mounts with no restriction in cities and whatnot would also not make it WoW. That would be ‘making the same mistake as the WoW devs’.
In my humble opinion of course.
ANet said years ago that they tried to get working capes in, but apparently they clashed with Charr animations.
So you can cross that one off your list.
They could always do a cape that splits in half for charr much like how the fabric on the wvw backpiece is.
Being unique and diff for the sake of being unique and did isnt always amazing or oraise worthy. If there are systems in other games that have been proven to work you need to take inspiration from them and improve upon those systems. Like Colin said “Innovate”.
Both mounts and ra9ds in gw2 are vastly diff from their ff14 or wow counter parts.
Saying is bad that the game has its take on sucessful ideas and needs to be unique is just stupid.

Id like capes actually, as for voice channels i dnt think that would benefit the game that much really. At least in open world. I could seeit be cool for pvp.
Actually we’ve been pining for guild capes since the start.

Personally im afraid i wont get another 6k+ hours out of the new expansion (not even 2k+). I would really buy this expansion for about 30 euro’s and find out but im not gonna risc that for an outrageous 45 euro’s for each familymember. HoT is not a new game so i might aswell buy another new released game. I wont complain about the game became F2P or whatever, i had lots of fun for 60 euro’s those 3 years. The expansion is just overpriced so i wont pre-order nor buy it when it gets released unless the price goes down within 2 weeks after release. Chance that happens is unlikely so by that time i probably moved on to the next game. Thanks for 3 great years before this mess up in marketting tho.

I have to agree, I was hoping to have the ability to run spirit builds in WvW after the patch, but now it seems like the entire set of spirit skills is almost useless. The only time i can really picture using them is in PvE and even then its only frost spirit.
