I’d suggest bringing it up to 80 then maxing out druid 1st. Ranger as a core class isn’t much of a threat when compared to druid due to how annoying ancient seeds can be coupled with their increased suitability brought on by the access to ca form, which brings with it a full condi clear, decent healing bursts, additional cc, and additional access to stealth. In addition to these, they get access to staff which brings with it a new mobility skill.
I mean, that’s the whole idea of this thread – to bring him to 80 as fast as possible. Won’t need to powerlevel if he’s already 80. :P
You zerg or you roam in wvw. If you zerg, you’ll have to have a build that synergizes others in your zerg . Current meta comp is 2 guardis for stab 1 rev for resist 1 necro for boon removal 1 healer ele and 1 war, and the other classes just tail and get used as cannon fodder.
Roaming gives you more freedom with your build as you basically just have to have a build good enough to survive npcs to cap camps, and sentries, while at the same time able to handle the occasional player or 20 that you’ll run into. PVE BUILDS WILL NOT WORK. (Exception being if you have god-like skills.)
Side note progress will be slow depending on both you and your server. Also WvW is the best place to farm transmutation shards thanks to the pip system. ( I get around 20-30 of them over the course of a week for doing random things.)
Any suggestions for a Ranger build? He’s level like, 68 or so.
Tomes of knowledge are a common drop from the wvw reward track/participation award. Idk if you get that in eotm or not but in regular wvw maps it works out quite nicely. If wvw makes you anxious then aside from crafting idk. Sorry if that’s not very helpful. ^^;;
I don’t think I’ve really delved into standard WvW, if it drops books like candy then I might be interested. What exactly do you do? I imagine it’s nothing like EotM.
I double click then I double click some more …
Gonna assume you’re talking about burning through Tomes of Knowledge – how do you get them, aside from the occasional daily login reward?
I got two of my 80s through doing the mindless Champion slaughterfest that was Edge of the Mists, but after popping in several times after a 2-year absence and never finding a commander or even much of a soul running around the battlefields, I suppose that method won’t work anymore. What are people doing now to power through their levels? Methods not involving PvP would be preferred, as I’m not great at it and it makes me anxious.
Dang, that sucks.
Could you perhaps use the Box, but quickly start the match before it finishes petrifying you? Or is it removing the effect as soon as you start?
Late reply whoops
It removes the effect as the match starts, so I think I’m just gonna have to get lucky during a match.
- Outright cheat by using a Box O’ Fun. Put it down next to you, set it to Petrify mode, start the match, then immediately petrify yourself. You are invulnerable while petrified, and so you can just sit there and laugh at Adnul as he slowly drinks himself to death against a statue.
Not sure if this is either fixed, or I’m doing it wrong, but I can’t seem to petrify myself once the match starts.
EDIT: Yeah, they fixed the Box o’ Fun, as well as the rejuvenation boosters, but not his damage-to-health ratio. Thanks, Anet!

What do I do for him? I’ve been attempting him for a good three hours total, I’ve lost count of how many attempts I’ve made – the few times I almost won were swiftly taken from me with a Critique or an unlucky coin flip. Is there any sort of strategy for him? He doesn’t follow any pattern that I’ve noticed so I can’t effectively block his water or drink when he belches. This mini-game has been part of the game for a while now, surely this can’t all boil down to luck?
